An engagement is supposed to be a fun, exciting time in a girl’s life. But things are never that easy for Slash and me. Instead, someone is threatening to expose Slash’s past—a past so secret, even I know very little about it.
Before I can get used to the weight of Nonna’s antique ring on my finger, he’s on his way to Rome…and we’re farther apart than we’ve ever been. Still, I have no intention of sitting at home and letting him take on the Vatican by himself.
With a little expert-level hacking, I learn Slash is keeping secrets from me. Big ones. Dangerous ones. In fact, the more I dig into Slash’s past, the more I discover things about him I never knew—things that eventually pit us against each other.
From Rome to the Amalfi Coast to the highest levels of the Vatican, we both race to discover the truth. No matter what I find, we’re officially a team now, so I won’t let him face this alone. Even if I don’t know if our relationship can survive it.

No Stone Unturned by Julie Moffett Lexi Carmichael mysteries #11. Best read in series order. Slash is being threatened and travels to Rome to investigate. Lexi isn’t about to let him handle things alone so follows him hoping to help. The Vatican will never be the same.
Political maneuvering and conspiracy make this novel a bit more complicated than some of the past books. Who is Slash’s father and is it really that important in the upper levels of Vatican? Some expected bumbling by Lexi as usual, this time getting them publicly recognized. A bit different format than the usual in that there are actually passages from their nemesis throughout the story. Some questions answered but not all. Hints there may be more personal intrigue to come.
🎧 I alternated between both a paperback and an audiobook copy of this story. The narrator is Kristen Watson Heintz. I’ve listened and read to many of the previous books in this series by the same narrator. Maybe I didn’t notice before, or got used to is, but her lisp is very clearly heard in this performance. A bit distracting.
Love the cover on the paperback with a photo of Rome in the silhouette. Intriguing and engaging.
No Stone Unturned by Julie Moffett is number eleven in the Lexi Carmichael series and the best one yet. I think I have said that about every book in the series but this one finally let us fans get to know Slash and his past.
I was thrilled that this time Ms. Moffett wrote Slash's thoughts throughout this adventure. I have always appreciated his caring, concern and admiration of Lexie, his spy/operative skills and his super hacking skills; but to finally read his thoughts and feelings made me appreciate him so much more. Throughout the series Slash's past has been carefully edited for everyone, including Lexie, but in this one we all learn more about his work at the Vatican and his childhood. All of which made this book an engrossing read for me. Lexie, as usual, was her lovable, geeky and awkward self which made me smile. I laughed out loud at her "white knuckle ride" with Slash along the Amalfi coast. This time they face a truly Machiavellian plot from Italy that hints of Slash's dark past. This book has a plot that speeds along at breakneck speed, wonderful secondary characters that I enjoyed visiting with again and a reveal that was so satisfying that I cheered. Ms. Moffett also left us with just a small hint of what we may be seeing in the next book - at least I hope so. I cannot recommend this book highly enough for all readers who enjoy a great mystery with a touch of romance, friendship and family.
I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book. All of the above opinions are my own.
Lexi and Slash are back, this time in a more personal story. While previous books have pitted Lexi and her friends against major threats to the world with life-threatening danger involved, this one offers less mortal peril but more emotional obstacles.
Lexi and Slash recently have gotten engaged, and Lexi thinks her greatest problem will be dealing with an engagement party and pushy relatives wanting to know when the wedding—and grandchildren—are expected. But when vague threats spur Slash suddenly to leave for Italy without explanation and without Lexi, Lexi wonders just how well she knows him and how much they truly trust each other. It seems Slash’s mysterious past is coming to haunt him, but Lexi is not about to let him push her away when clearly he needs her the most.
The story offers some typical Lexi social awkwardness and tech genius. But the real treats of this tale are finding out about Slash’s mysterious past and watching Lexi and Slash come to trust and love each other even more. The ending leaves an intriguing question which may well be the subject of the next book. I’ll look forward to it.
Lexi and Slash are engaged and living together in their new house. However, a couple of incidents have Slash traveling to Italy, leaving a worried Lexi behind. Slash is confronted with a part of his past he would rather forget and not have Lexi know. But Lexi is not prepared to let Slash face his demons alone.
Slash has been a mystery for most of the series. The suave and skilled hacker and operative, constantly followed by his own security detail. We finally delve into his background! I loved the descriptions of the beautiful Italian countryside and the visit to Nonna (and her cat!). This book shows Lexi has grown so much and is willing to fight for Slash and their happiness. It has a different vibe to it, but it was a wonderful read and I can't wait for the next.
Of course I can't divulge too much as I don't want to spoil anyone before this book is published in January 2019, but I have been highlighting like crazy and I am sure Julie won't mind me giving some quotes... 'You were completely different from any other woman I'd ever met. I didn't want you to come to me the way most people did. But it also meant I wasn't sure how to go about getting you to love me." "That makes no sense. You just had to be yourself. Obviously, that was enough for me. "
'Why? Slash, do you really have to ask me that? When you gave me this ring, I understood it to mean we're a team in all parts of our lives. The good and the bad. We may not have had the wedding yet, but this ring means everything we face, we face together."
'You're the beginning of my everything," he whispered.
*** I received an ARC from the publisher via Netgalley, but this is my honest and voluntary review. There is a digital copy waiting for me on publication date as I have bought the book myself. ***
“We all have a past…The question is, are you going to remain a prisoner to yours?”
Self-proclaimed geek and expert hacker, Lexi Carmichael feels out of her element when it comes to “peopling”. Never being one to know what to say and do, she finds herself lost at her own engagement party. Slash, her fiancée and fellow hacker, is offering the back-up needed to fend off her anxiety. But when secrets from Slash’s past start to threaten Lexi, Slash does the unthinkable by leaving her behind and heading to Rome to face the threat head on…and alone.
Lexi can’t believe Slash still does not see them as a team. Not one to be left cooling her heals, Lexi instigates an investigation on her own, and what she uncovers has her hopping the first flight to Rome to track down Slash and offer assistance whether he wants it or not.
As the clues of Slash’s birth and past secret agent activities start piecing together, Lexi and Slash find themselves in the crosshairs of a powerful enemy…one that is deeply connected within the Vatican and a past Slash can no longer hide.
No Stone Unturned is the 11th installment to the Lexi Carmichael mystery series, but the first read for me. Usually when picking up in the middle of a series, I’ve found myself so lost in all the characters and back story that it was hard to enjoy the current plot. Not the case here! Julie Moffett did an excellent job in the telling of Lexi and Slash’s story without bogging down or confusing the mystery in this book. No Stone Unturned grabbed and kept my attention from beginning to end! Loved and highly recommend!
*Received ARC via NetGalley for honest review*
Fav quotes:
“…I want you to know something…I’m deeply and intentionally in love with you. You can rest assured I’m not going to let anything touch what we have. You—our life—it means everything to me.”
“Home was where your heart belonged, where the people you loved anchored you. Home was where you could be your true self with people who loved you just as you were.”
Already on my second read and loving it just as much as the first! Although I had read an ARC from NetGalley, the Lexi Carmichael Mysteries series is a must-pre-order for me. I am in awe of every book in this series and No Stone Unturned is my newest favorite. Julie Moffett proves time and again that light reading can still reflect quality writing. The intricacy of the plots she creates and the evolution of the relationships among her characters are at least a well-written those in any genre and the whole point is to provide entertainment! Ms. Moffett is by far not the only outstanding author among those who strive to entertain us but she is one of my favorites. Fans of the series don't need to be sold on each new book. In No Stone Unturned, we get a peek at Slash's background which has been a dream for most of us since we first met him. Watching Lexi in action, both in her new strong sense of self and the old Lexi-under-the-black-cloud persona, is a delight that offers fans the perfect read. I doubt that this is the perfect entry book for those new to the series, but I do believe that any reader would love it. As you can imagine, I was thrilled to be approved for an ARC from NetGalley and am more than ready to shout to all about how much I loved No Stone Unturned. It is going to be a regular reread for sure. Needless to say, I can hardly wait for the next book. #NoStoneUnTurned #NetGalley
Whoa. This book had a slightly darker feel than some of the others. Maybe it's just me. I don't know. While the earlier books had high stakes and the potential for massive (even global) destruction, this one felt more personal to Lexi. And Slash. I mean, they've finally decided to make their intertwined lives more official and suddenly this THING is popping up that threatens to derail them.
The issues aren't necessarily on a global scale, but it felt like there was more impact to them.
Huh. Apparently, it's the little things that get me. Like Lexi choosing to step back and bide her time once she realized how badly Slash didn't want her to see the thing she was trying to see. And their relationship! Oh, I like these two together. I'm big enough to admit I wasn't thrilled with their pairing when it first happened (for reasons that had nothing to do with Slash, mind you), but I am ONE HUNDRED PERCENT Team Slash and Lexi now. ONE HUNDRED PERCENT.
Maybe it was getting into Slash's head that did it. I like that guy. He's honorable and deadly and REALLY FREAKING GOOD at everything he sets his mind to do. He and Lexi make a solid team with skill sets that complement one another in the best possible way.
I fell like I'm being a little flaily and gushy, but THESE TWO. I like how they work things out when things get dicey. I like how they stand up and fight for one another when needed. I like how they're willing to take on the most powerful people in the world if it comes down to it.
This time we get to read from both Lexi and Slash's points of view, as they travel throughout Italy to uncover the reason they were sent mysterious letters. During their travels, as they speak to a lot of different people, we learn a lot about Slash's past, and Slash also learns some truths himself. Lexi seems to have matured a fair bit, and she really is a stabilising force for Slash in this one. This book was a great read!
No Stone Unturned was a wonderful read, I couldn’t rush through. I had anticipated more conflict between Lexi and Slash. I was pleasantly surprised when it delivered instead, heart and a sweet sense of what true commitment to one’s partner is all about. This book is now tied as my favorite in the series. I savored every page.
Quite loved this book. I always forget that the Lexi Carmichael books generally have some tension and often a particularly awful villain and this book was no exception. The details on the Catholic Church and life at the Vatican were especially interesting in tandem with the suspense and the deep background into Slash and his past, and Julie Moffett has added great developmental progress for Lexi who, as she always has, expressed her own fears and worries but dealt with them magnificently. And the cat always adds comic relief, especially for any reader who has ever had one. Also, as always, it is easy to see the characters - to somehow know what they look like, to feel their emotions, and to love them or hate them depending on whether they are the good guys or the evil ones. This adds to the absolute pleasure of reading a Lexi Carmichael, for sure. While one could read this as a stand-alone, it's better to have read the previous books in the series to really appreciate the character development of those who appear in all the books.
Great read. The author takes us on a grand adventure to uncover the mysterious past of our newly engaged hero's past. Slash and Lexi leave no stone unturned to defeat the threat to their future together. This story is a terrific read by itself, but if you haven't read the prior books in the series, I strongly recommend starting at the beginning: No One Lives Twice. Then continue on to books 2 - 11. You will not be disappointed!
Our favorite Geek, Lexi Carmichael is back along with her new fiancée, Slash, who has put a huge rock on her finger. Yes, she is engaged. And before you can say Congratulations, Slash is gone and Lexi is frustrated.
Feeling left out and worried she takes her hacking skills to the next level and finds out she may not know Slash and his past at all. She has questions. And she will stand by her man and fight the people threatening their lives with all she has. Typical Lexi.
From The Vatican, to the beautiful Amalfi Coast and back again, this fast-paced novel has everything a good thriller should have. Conspiracy theories, the Catholic Church, a rogue and power-hungry priest who will let nothing stand in his way of becoming the next Pope. Only the current one has his own plans and his own secret weapon in Slash.
This was a non-stop action mystery thriller! Every other chapter I was saying, "What???" which is a good thing. These two may be my favorite book couple.
I am never disappointed in Julie Moffett's books, and #11 in the Lexi Carmichael Series is fabulous! It was so exciting to finally learn more about Slash! I love how Lexi has grown too---characters drive the book for me and I have enjoyed each one in this series. I cannot wait for number 12! I loved it! If you enjoy emotion, action, quality characters, and and a fast paced plot--- this is the book for you!
Talk about a kind awkward, totally Geeky adventure through Italy wow it was mesmerising.
I have to say Julie Moffett is in my top 10 list of favourite authors, her books are just that good, they are really well written and researched to draw you in and keep you enthralled from the first page to the very last and then you immediately want more.
I loved that we got Slash's POV in this book it actually bought the book even more to life for me.
omg Italy the descriptive way Julie took us through Italy was completely amazing I was able to picture everything perfectly.
I loved all of the histories I got to learn while reading a wonderful story which just makes it even more fun to read.
I even had a few Geeky moments when I had to research points in the story just for my own curiosity.
Julie writes amazingly identifiable characters that I am completely in love with and I always look forward to her next book even before I have finished the one I am currently reading.
Wish I could give it 10 stars! I could not put it down & read it till 3:20 am! Love Lexie & how she process social interactions. Love hers & Slash’s relationship. So romantic! Nice to find out more about Slash’s history. He has been such an enigma. Talk about intrigue, danger, & suspense! And Italy was such a great backdrop for all of this. I can’t wait to read the next book to find out what will happen with wedding planning & that bit of a cliffhanger!
Mayhem and Hacking in Italy This episode of Lexi Carmichael's life is just as entertaining and riveting as the other 10 books in the series. Most of the story takes place in Italy with great descriptions of churches and dinners! The plot moves quickly with lots of action and interesting characters. Someday, I want to own the entire series in paperback! This ARC book was given to me for free and this is my honest review.
I absolutely love the Lexie series!!The books never disappoint. I love seeing how Lexie grows and becomes more confident in each book. The fact that we can see Slash’s point of view in No Stone Unturned, made me fall in love with him even more!
No Stone Unturned is Book 11 in the Lexi Carmichael Mystery Series. Lexi is back and engaged but someone is trying to expose her fiance, Slash's past, which Lexi really doesn't know too much about herself.
Slash is heading for Rome and Lexi is definitely not sitting on her hands. Lexi and Slash end up in Rome and and the Vatican for the mystery of their life! Lexi doesn't know Slash's secret, but she is determined to find out even if it costs her everything.
This is a fantastic book, I really enjoyed the mystery and the characters. Though it is book 11 in the series, I feel like this book can stand alone. Having read some of the other books in the series, some of the book made a little more sense, but I don't think its necessary to read the other ones first.
I was definitely surprised at the end. Again, fantastic story and loved the setting of Rome.
I love Lexi and Slash. In this one we get to find out more about Slash. We get to see Italy and Nonna and Nonna’s cooking. As always, looking forward to another book.
Lexi is a master hacker and director for X-Corp, an intelligence and security company. She recently got engaged to Slash, who is a government agent and fellow hacker. Slash is lured to Italy because of something he did in his past. He can't tell Lexi what it is as it's top secret. Of course, she can't stay out of it so after hacking a bit, she heads to Italy to help him deal with whatever it is. As Lexi and Slash travel across the country, they become involved with members in the Catholic church and discover that one of the priests may be Slash's father (he was found abandoned as a baby in a church).
Though this is the eleventh (and latest) in the Lexi Carmichael series, it works as a stand alone. If you want to know the background, though, you should read the others. I've like the series and have read them all.
It is written in first person perspective from Lexi's point of view. I liked the writing style and there was humour. In addition to the usual hacking, there was lots of adventure around Italy. I missed the interaction she's had in the past with her best friends Basia, Elvis and Xavier (they were barely in the story). It's been interesting to watch Lexi grow from being a geek with just one friend, no life and no social skills to not only having close friends, a fiancé with whom she is now living with, but also confidence.
A well written story. If you haven't read the previous books in the series I think it would make more sense to start at book 1. The series has a different story each book but relationships develop and grow throughout the series, esp between Lexi and Slash. Slash is a bit of an enigma and we are told small amounts of information each book. This book reveals more. Clean romance. No cheating.
Geek girl Lexi Carmichael thought getting engaged would mean calmer days ahead. But when Slash's past brings up more questions than answers, she's not going to let anything--or anyone--drive them apart.
Getting engaged is supposed to be a fun, exciting time in a girl's life. But things are never that easy for Slash and me. Instead, someone is threatening to expose Slash's past--a past so secret, even I know very little about it.
Before I can get used the weight of Nonna's antique ring on my finger, he's on his way to Rome...and we're farther apart than we've ever been. Still, I have no intention of sitting at home and letting him take on the Vatican by himself.
With a little expert-level hacking, I learn Slash is keeping secrets from me. Big ones. Dangerous ones. In fact, the more I dig into Slash's past, the more I discover things about him I never knew--things that eventually pit us against each other.
From Rome to the Amalfi coast to the highest levels of the Vatican, we both race to discover the truth. No matter what I find, we're officially a team now, so I won't let him face this alone. Even if I don't know if our relationship can survive it.

I received a free copy of NO STONE UNTURNED (Lexi Carmichael Mysteries: Book 11) by Julie Moffett in exchange for an honest review. Lexi is dreading the fanfare and brouhaha required by her upcoming nuptials. When her fiancé, Slash, receives vague threats, he flies off to Italy to deal with the situation and excludes Lexi from both the decision loop and the investigation. This causes Lexi to experience a deeper dread because Slash is now pushing her away and keeping secrets, which means Slash does not trust her. Lexi refuses to accept this and follows Slash to render assistance whether he wants it or not. The following adventure takes the engaged couple on a tour of Italy, Italy’s priests, and may even end up at the highest levels of the Vatican.
I love the Lexi Carmichael Series. The characters are likeable, there are funny moments, and the storylines are interesting. This was a good addition to the series, and I am looking forward to the next installment.
LOVED this book! In this novel, Slash finds his very secret past catching up with him and threatening Lexi. He flies to Italy to delve into who is behind the threats. Lexi, who only knows something is wrong, is left behind in Slash's efforts to protect her. Lexi doesn't like being left behind and immediately jumps in to help him, whether he wants it or not.
I found myself totally engrossed in this novel, from the very first page until the very last page. In particular, I loved learning about Slash's past - his real past, not the sanitized version he's told people. While looking into the threats, Lexi finds a way to get herself into more trouble and Slash learns painful truths about his early years.
This is a must read for fans of the genre. Each book in the series is better than the one before. This is a stand alone novel, however, you'll enjoy it so much more if you've read the prior books. The series is so good that you really owe it to yourself to read them all.
This is my 1st Lexi Carmichael book and I was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed it .
Slash's hidden past is catching up with him ……….. they are trying to hurt a member of his family ……… he needs to travel to Italy to resolve the issue ……….. BUT he must leave Lexi at home . That's what he thinks ! Lexi is not about to be left at home - she knows that together they can solve anything . She is willing to fight for Slash and their future happiness .
The descriptions ofthe Italian countryside , churches and lunches ( especially with Nonna ) make the book very appealing . I don't want to say too much and give away spoilers as the book has not yet been published . I will certainly be buying the other books in the series .
I received an ARC from the publisher via Netgalley in exchange for my honest and voluntary review.
This book had all the feels. I can't give enough praise to the author for their storytelling ability. The character development is fantastic, I am fully vested in each of them. I love the intrigue, the interesting locations and even the different foods. Now I really want a trip to the Amalfi coast. This book has all the feels, as well as a great storyline. Each of the books in this series are fascinating. In this book, Slash's past comes back to haunt him. He's trying to move forward with Lexi and their engagement, but others are trying to bring him down. He tries to shut her out at first, but she isn't having it. Together, in Italy, they come face to face with a lot of realities about each other, their relationship and themselves. Enemies come from unlikely places, as do the allies. Highly recommend.
It was the first book I read in this series and it was a great discovery. It's fun to read and entertaining, fast paced and full of twists and turns. I like the way the characters well written, tridimensional and relatable, and how their relationship evolves in the book. I loved the plot that is always easy to understand even when it becomes complex. This is not the first book in the series but I had no problems in understanding the plot and the characters. It was also the a very good introduction to this series. I look forward to reading the next installment. Highly recommended! Many thanks to Carina Press and Netgalley for this ARC
If you want to read a really good series read the Lexi Carmichael series, you won’t be disappointed. The books only get better! This is the 11th book in the series and it was so good, it was hard to put down. I loved how you really got to know Slash so much better, he is so mysterious and some of your questions about him get answered in this book. It makes him seem more like a real person, and the bond between him and Lexi only grows. I did miss their friends in this book so I am looking forward to meeting up with them next time! Julie you need to write the next book quickly because I am already sad I am going to miss my friends until next winter.
I loved this book. It dwells mostly on Slash’s background, especially around his birth and abandonment. Someone is trying to use this information to hurt one of Slash’s family. Of course he tries to keep Lexi out of it to protect her but she’s having none of that. So they go around Italy searching and finding trouble and answers. I can’t wait until the next book to is what happens. #NoStoneUnturned #NetGalley
This series has fairly complicated plot lines while retaining clarity, depth of character and progressive relationships. In this one Lexi and Slash take on corruption which could change the future of the Catholic Church handled deftly by Moffet with truth, love, evil and the sanctity of faith. Thank you Netgalley and the publisher for allowing me the arc in return for my honest review
