Chris Landrum and his friend Barbara Deanelli’s search for shark teeth abruptly changes directions when they discover a woman at water’s edge clinging to a surfboard. How she got there was a mystery—a mystery compounded when she doesn’t remember her name, her past, or who abducted her and nearly sent her to her death in the mid-December waters off the coast of Folly Beach, South Carolina. Chris and a cadre of his quirky pals are determined to learn the woman’s identity and what happened. Their search is interrupted when they, along with most everyone else on the small barrier island, halt their pre-Christmas plans to search for Pluto, Dude Sloan’s beloved Australian terrier, that was nowhere to be found. Will Chris and his pals catch whoever initiated the attempt on the mystery woman’s life before another try is made, and will Dude’s beloved pet reappear in time for Christmas? Whoever said that retirement was to be a time of peace and relaxation never spent time with Chris and his friends.
Chris did it again found the dog and the memory. The story is carefully woven to keep you worrying about Pluto and Dude while a bigger mystery is who is Joy. I love this author he knows the fans love his character s like family. What a great family to be part of. Thanks again Bill Noel the creator of this wonderful family.
I would recommend this mystery to any book lover. Folly's mysteries always turn out for the good but sometimes you are afraid they won't. Bill Noel never fails to entertain and inspire.
During an early morning beach walk, Chris and Barb find a woman clinging to life and a surfboard. Because she is suffering from amnesia, the Folly Beach gang name her Joy. Chris and "detective" Charles look for clues on both what happened to Joy and what happened to Dude's missing dog, Pluto. All the usual quirky characters make an appearance along with a few new ones. Another great mystery story by Bill Noel. Thanks for the early Christmas gift.
I love Christmas cozy mysteries. Some barely mention Christmas and just skim over the holiday. But, not this one. Bill Noel does a great job of painting the scene with his words. The story and characters were well fleshed out and the pace of the book was a nice leisurely stroll down Folly Island's beach.
One of my favorite Bill Noel novels. A double mystery unfolding right before Christmas, with of course Chris and Charles solving both. Poor Dude’s dog, Pluto disappears, along with Chris and Barb finding a lady washed ashore on a surfboard on the verge of death, to awake with amnesia. Who is this lady, who tried to kill her, and where is Pluto. Will we find out before Christmas? 🎄 🎅🏻
I am so happy to be back in Folly beach. And also to see there is a book 16. The characters in these mysteries are quirky and fun. They feel like old friends.
Good Christmas read, with a small amount of mystery thrown in. If you’re expecting an edge of your seat story with an intricate plot, you may be disappointed. If you want a quick story to get you in the Christmas spirit, you might want to consider this one.
