The new event season is on the horizon, and India can’t wait. She’s been regaining the confidence of the two FEI ponies her sister failed to ride ever since Sophia aged out of Pony Trials, and her efforts finally seem to be getting her somewhere. But before the event season can begin there’s a whole different kind of season to get through, and all of India’s free time is taken up on the Thoroughbred stud her family runs. In addition to her event ponies, the foals, and a certain chestnut mare India just cannot shake from her mind, is the tension between her and Sophia, which isn’t going away. India’s held her tongue this long, but she feels it’s only a matter of time before one of them says something they’ll regret…
I really enjoyed this trio of books. I love horse books almost more than anything (even at almost 50 years of age). Thank goodness this author not only knows horses and the horse world, but can also write. Her books do come with some catch phrases meant to inspire (hard work will always win the day), but even cynical me managed to buy into them. I found myself cheering on the characters as if they were real. Please keep writing! I look forward to more!
This is the second time reading this series and I am hoping for more. The series is great for younger and older readers alike. Pony Trials continues the series from the vantage point of Indie and her family , but Sybil, Freya and Alex also make appearances, ads do Georgia and Lockwood, from the Lockwood series.
This book gave much more information about India. I liked that she lived on a thoroughbred breeding farm and I thought that the physical descriptions and personalities of horses key to the story were portrayed wonderfully. I can see how India grew as a rider and a sister.
Interesting family dynamics . Always interesting to read British and AUS and NZ "horse fluff". In many ways, so different from U.S. And in other ways, so familiar. Who will be featured in the next book, Grace?
I really love the way India's story was told, her relationship with her sister, her work ethic and the way she loves the horses, even the broodmare matter to her. Also I love how "small" the world is in the end.
