Overall I liked the series and the strong female characters. But by book 4 I quickly became ready for the series to be finished. This book, like Noel's felt like the love story was left open ended. This book and series began to feel very drawn out. I can't quite call it a happily ever after, but it ended well enough.
The main problem, risk for human trafficking, that plagued Amanda throughout her life seems to have been mostly resolved. I like the guy Amanda will likely end up being with, but there was so much time focused on others and first loves, that it made for a confusing love story.
It seemed to me that the series became more unrealistic over time. I get it that the people of these stories are wealthy, unbelievably beautiful, extremely smart, and most of them are super badass/military/mercenary trained. But the ridiculously advanced children in the story was a major issue for me.
16 month old babies don't discuss "It's better when you here!" or "I don't like you leaving!" Yes, 16 month olds will likely be going through separation anxiety, but they do not express it in this way. Also, 3 year olds practicing how to get out of knots in case someone kidnaps them, again not realistic at all.
My favorite books in this series were book 1 and 3. Book 1, the kilted father and the deaf librarian. Book 3, the sexy grandma and her super slow burn romance with a younger retired military man.
