Our night of passion was unforgettable.
I'd have loved more time with her, but she was a city girl passing through my lonely mountain village, only here to take photos of our festival.
She had no reason to return. So when she shows up again months later, I'm stunned.
Turns out her job sent her back with some unfinished business. I'd love another taste, but she says she's done with me and plans to leave ASAP. I'm not about to argue...
Until I find out that she's pregnant from our one-night-stand.
And once I know that she's carrying my child inside of her?
I'm never going to let her go.
This novel contains a rugged mountain man who will do anything to protect his family. NO cheating, lots of kindle-melting action, and always a happily ever after!

4 stars on the sexy, smutty scale.

Penny Wylder hit the mark for me with this erotic novella. I must say, I do like how she constantly manages to "change it up" in her books with a variety of different stories and characters. She doesn't get bogged down in one particular trope and I think that is why her books always feel "fresh" for me.
Having said that, I can definitely say that I have enjoyed some of them a lot more than others.
And this was one was a really good read for me, it had plenty of insta-lust but none of the immediate "I love you's " that I find to be somewhat annoying at times with this type of erotica .
Jenna was a character I could relate to, a single professional woman (a photographer for a news publication). She was down to earth and sweet but not opposed to hooking-up with Gil (the sexy mountain man she meets while on a work assignment).
Gil was very much the bachelor with a home business building cabinets and furniture but I liked his personality a lot, not a manwhore just comfortable with occasional casual hook-ups and not really looking for a relationship or commitment - throw in an unexpected pregnancy and a murder mystery and this was very much a sexy, fun and entertaining time .

ARC received in exchange for an honest review!

I was pleasantly surprised by this one! This had some sort of mystery going on and I liked it!
Truth be told I kind of suspected the right person, but wasn't sure.
This was also very very steamy! Also a bit kind of fast but I totally get that because it's what we know with these shorties. Even though this one was a little bit longer than others, it sometimes just felt a bit to fast. But on the other side I was like come on just go with it (to the characters).

I enjoyed this one it was a fun, mysterious, Hot/steamy read!

Big Mountain reminded me why Penny Wylder was a must read author for me! Yes, it has LOTS of steamy bits, but there's also a story (with a murder mystery to boot), and real emotions. Even though we don't get a lot of character development (it's only 190 pages), there is a definite character arc and growth with both Jenna and Gil. I enjoyed the small town setting, the suspense, and the whole story from beginning to end. I'm once again super excited to see what the author has in store for us next and I plan to go through her back catalogue to see what other gems I may have missed. 4 out of 5 wine glasses.

I wasn’t sure what I was expecting from this book after reading the blurb but I was in from the beginning and enjoyed the journey with the twists and turns. Fast paced and oh so smutty perfect read.

Jenna is in town to cover the local yearly festival needing a break from her hectic city life she jumped at the chance to cover the photographs. After spending the day wandering around the stalls she spots something that catches her eye in the forest and investigates and unsure of what she has stumbled upon decides to return to the festivities where she meets Gil the local she couldn’t help but eye up on her rounds earlier. They spend a hot and steamy night together where Gil makes it obvious that is all he ever wants it to be. Finishing her assignment she gets out of town as quickly as possible but unforeseen circumstances see her having to return to the sleepy town and she’s got a secret. How will Gil feel about the news she is back in town and will he ever let her go?

Gil has lived in Bailey Village all his life and is shocked when he becomes the prime suspect in a murder, even after Jenna confirms his alibi the town residents are still giving him a wide birth. The only bright side to life is Jenna she is back in town and after he let her go after the incredible night they spent together he has done nothing but think about her and wish he had done things with her differently. But she is hiding a secret that will change both of their lives forever. Can he prove to Jenna that he is the guy for her and will do anything to make her his and will he be able to protect her from the dangers surrounding her?

What more could you want from a book romance, murder, intrigue and a secret baby? This is definitely a must read.

Big Mountain is a secret baby romance and a fairly quick paced read.

Jenna meets Gil when she goes to a small town to cover the local festival for her job as a photographer. Gil is a local carpenter who is instantly attracted to the gorgeous woman walking the stalls. The two quickly hook up and after a night of explosive passion each go their own way and Jenna goes back home. However an unfortunate incident occurred on the night which leads to Jenna going back to speak to the local police.

This was an erotic but suspenseful romance. To be fair the suspense was fairly light and I instantly guessed who the perpetrator was although there was a curve ball thrown in later to surprise me.

I liked the interaction between Jenna and Gil and could easily identify the off the charts chemistry from the start. I loved both characters and how in a relatively short read that the relationship development was fully explored.

If you love small town romances with some hot action, a secret baby and a touch of suspense thrown in then this is one I would recommend. Four stars.

Murder and mayhem oh and don't forget the secret baby..

Jenna comes to a small town to get away for the weekend and get some great pictures for her job. She never knew she would leave with a baby in her belly and have to come back to give the father to her child an alibi for a murder that happened over the weekend.

Gil becomes the prime suspect in the local murder. Even though he had nothing to do with and he has an alibi, Jenna being that alibi people are still looking at him differently. But when he finds out about the baby he knows he has to step up his game on finding a way to prove that he is the guy for Jenna.

This is a really good book and should be read!

This book was awesome. I feel like it may have been a little longer than her normal books. BUT I’m glad. Often I Her books to keep going. I love Penny’s writing.

First this book is hot.
It’s a case of a insta-lust and a hook up.
Jenna is in town for a festival. She’s there as a photographer.
Gil is local and makes furniture. He has a booth at the festival.

During the festival Jenna sees something that doesn’t sit right. Seemed off.
Goes home after the weekend and shortly later realized she was pregnant.

No more. Not spoiling anything.

If you like hot, well written, good plots, this is the book for you!!
I highly recommend!

This book read comes across as a perfect love story slash mystery. It's a bit longer than the author's other books, but it's not drawn out like books in this same genre. What an amazing book--with no cliffhangers. You won't be disappointed in reading this story. Hope there is a second book because the characters are so addictive.

Who know a trip to the mountains and a one night stand could change your life forever?

Jenna is a city girl who needs a break from all the hustle and bustle when she takes a photography job up in the mountains for a town festival.

Gil is a local mountain man. He hunts and grows his own food, builds his own furniture and just survives on what is naturally provided to him.

Jenna is photographing the festival when she notices some strange activity in the woods. Gil is also in the woods and the beautiful Jenna catches his eyes and he knows he needs to talk to this girl. They do talk and they do hook up, expecting to never see each other again after the weekend, but fate is funny and had other plans in mind for these two.

There was a murder during the festival and Jenna has to return back to the mountain town to help with the investigation, only this time she is also carrying a little something extra. She is pregnant and the father his Gil.

I enjoyed this story. I liked that we had a little drama with how the town people treated Gil and you know, a whole murder investigation. Gil's reaction and how he felt towards Jenna was sweet, especially after he found out that she was pregnant.

There were times that I felt the story kind of dragged on but I still enjoyed the story and watching the relationship between Gil and Jenna grow.

4.5 Star Review Big Mountain by Penny Wylder

A new author to me and one I will be reading again. Big Mountain was an enjoyable romance with some added suspense and intrigue. Jenna is a photographer on assignment covering a festival in a small town in the Poconos.

When Jenna bumps in to Gil, attraction sizzles between them immediately but both know that it will be for only one night as Jenna has to trutrn to the city and he is at home in his mountains.

Complications which neither of them expected means that Jenna has to return to the small town as a witness in a murder trial. Jenna has no intention of hooking up with Gil again and he has no problems with that, until he discovers she is pregnant with his child, then all bets are off.

As the story unfolds, not only are Gil and Jenna trying to weave a path together but there is the complications and danger from a killer. This is a fast paced book which kept me riveted from the first chapter. The chemistry between Gil and Jenna is off the charts and the twists and turns woven into the story had me invested as did the surprise baby story line.

Sigh, I could read books like this one all day long, I am a sucker for a oopsie baby, and add in an Alpha mountain man and my knees are quaking. Gil lives in a small town, he is pretty scheduled in his cabin in the woods building furniture, his town holds a huge festival every year, and he is there to drum up business, he notices someone checking him out behind the lense of a camera . Jenna is a successful photographer sent to take pics of a festival in a small little town. She sees Gil selling his custom furniture as is instantly clenching her legs together. A one night stand turns into a lifelong oopsie. Jenna has to return to town after a guest at the festival was found murdered and Gil needs his abili confirmed, and Jenna just might have snapped a pic of the murderer.
I really liked this story it had a bit of mystery and suspense and Gil swooning so hard for that bearded man, he is a man on a mission to change his life and include Jenna and baby in it. Very sweet, protective guy, that held all the appeal.

One Night Changed Their Lives

Jenna is a photographer. She’s on an assignment to photograph a festival taking place in a remote, small town.

It’s the perfect opportunity to getaway from the city and get some down time, while she completes her current assignment.

Bailey’s a small town. And to pass the time, Jenna find’s herself the perfect distraction...a sexy, man who’s great with his hands. Gil’s at the festival selling his custom furniture. He’s too hot to resist.

These two spend one night enjoying one another and forgetting about the outside world. The sparks fly and these two sizzle.

It’s only supposed to be one night, but everything changes. Their one night has lasting consequences. And during their night of passion, the small town is rocked by a murder and everyone becomes a suspect.

A story about finding love and family when you least expect it, with a side of murder that needs to be solved before there are any more victims.

Who knew a hot night could mean so much?

Suspense and hot romance from this author? Yes, please! What a great plot to accompany this ardent couple. I loved it.

Jenna is a photographer spending a weekend in a quaint little town for a work project. For one scorching-hot night, her life changes dramatically as a mystery puzzles the locals and she meets a Viking-look-alike hottie that impregnates her. That’s a whole lot of entertainment if you consider all the steamy times, the dangers lurking in the quiet streets and a man on a mission to convince his woman to give him a chance to be a daddy and a partner.

I enjoyed the easy flow of the chapters, the deep commitment of the furniture-builder who really knows how to please his woman, the mystery surrounding the crime and the fact that Jenna is a photographer.

It’s a pretty romance in the middle of a little suspenseful thriller. Very good and a nice surprise form the author. Thumbs up!

No doubt about it, Jenna and Gil will steam up your Kindle. A big city girl and the wild and wooly mountain man. Opposites attract, they say. Their chemistry was over the top but each thought the other only wanted one night. Suspense, a murder mystery and a surprise baby all add to the drama. Well written with developed, likable characters and an entertaining story with an HEA.

When Jenna is sent to take the perfect photos of a festival for an article, she thinks that she will end up having a relaxing weekend with no stress. She gets the relaxation in the form of a weekend of no strings attached sex with Gil, a hot mountain man she finds with snapping the pictures. But will one weekend be enough? Or is Jenna left packing with a little extra baggage? With a great setting and enjoyable characters, once again Penny Wylder does not disappoint.

This was a really good story! One night together is all they get and this changes a lot for both of them. She leaves back to the city life. Only months later she is back. She has a little surprise for him. When he knows she is having his baby he will not let her leave again. He wants her and the baby.
A very well written story with likeable characters and a great plot. Twists and emotions are mix with a bit of drama, mystery, romance, love and possessiveness.
Absolutely worth the read.

Dirty-talking H and h and WOW…so good!
Jenna is very happy with her life as a photographer for the Philadelphia Gazette covering events and festivals. Her latest assignment is photographing the Bailey Village annual Spring Festival near the Poconos, in the mountains. She’s actually looking forward to this job, a chance to get away and be in the fresh air. While Jenna is walking around the event getting candid shots, she sees one-beautiful-man in his own booth, a local handmade furniture artisan, Gil. What she doesn’t know is that Gil also noticed HER. Later they have a very wild, satisfying night together but both think the other only wants a one-night stand so they part. A murder occurs in this small sleepy town, which drags Jenna and Gil into it and back together. Will their mutual attraction continue? Who killed whom and why? What is Jenna’s secret?
There is intrigue, HOT dirty-talking scenes, secrets and a super HEA. If any of that bothers you, don’t get this book. Those scenes were fan-worthy. Believe me!
I volunteered to review an ARC of this book and it comes highly recommended.

5+ STAR Review by Jodi for Ruby Red Romance Review

I loved every single second of this amazing story. It was everything I've come to love from Penny Wylder and so, so much more. This little nugget has all the hot steamy romance that Penny is know for as well as a few twists and turns I didn't see coming. Big Mountain is a little longer than most her novella type books, but that doesn't matter, she knocked it out of the park with this story.

Gil is simply amazing. The man live on his own on a mountain. He's captivating, intriguing, and down right HOT. I loved him from the first moment he was introduced. I love how he's willing to fight for everything. Jenna, Jenna is sweet, maybe a little naive at times, and afraid. She's afraid to let her guard down, even though it may be the best thing for her in the end. The chemistry between Gil and Jenna is off the charts, there is no denying that.

I loved everything about this story. It took me on an adventure I didn't know I was looking for. Please check it out.

Holy Hotness!

This quick romance book has a lot packed into its pages, mountain beauty, a fun filled festival, a mystery, a quick fling between Gil, a hot, handsome tall mountain man and Jenna, an attractive photographer sent to Bailey Village from the city to get some fine photos of the festival’s fun and a mother load of f-bombs. Let’s not forget the sexual chemistry that ignites between the main characters, Jenna sure doesn’t a month later when she gets the surprise of her life. Good editing made me happy, I just wish wish there had been better fleshing out of the characters, especially Jenna. There were not surprises regarding the relationship that develops between the hot mountain main and Jenna and the sexual escapades were hot and heavy, possibly a bit gratuitous toward the end of the book made particularly more pronounced with all the “f” bombs. Still, I found the book a nice escape to read as are most other Penny Wylder books.

Jenna is a city girl going to Bailey to photograph a festival for work. She is enthralled with the small town and especially with a local male- Gil. She spots him and has an immediate attraction. Gil sees Jenna and knows he must meet her. The two of them hit it off immediately and have one amazing night together. A month later Jenna finds herself back in Bailey helping detectives with a murder that happened at the festival. Now she has a secret of her own.

I thought the story was written well. I liked how Gil & Jenna met and how immediate their attraction was. Then the story heated up with the mystery of the murder and who done it all the way Gil & Jenna reconnection and working through their secret and trying to build the relationship. The story had everything for me. Passion, Mystery, and Suspense. All in all another hit for me!

I love this one, by Penny Wylder! "Big Mountain," has city-girl, Jenna, traveling on assignment to the small town of Bailey. While photographing the festival activities, she can't help but notice mountain-man, Gil, displaying his highly sought after, hand-crafted furniture. Instant attraction, leads to one steamy night of passion. Jenna returns to her world, but neither of them can forget about each other. Naturally, there are unexpected twists and turns to this story, in an unusually long length for Wylder, (YAY!) When circumstances bring these two together again, Gil finds out their one-nightstand had life-long consequences, he unleashes his true mountain man, and he is like, hell-no-not-ever-letting-her-go! Written in a his/her perspective, the characters really come to life. A romantic, steamy, sexy, read. I received this book as an ARC and I volunteered this review.

Fantastic read! Perfect length with mystery and tons of hot moments. Plus, it's a small town mountainish man so that makes it even better.

Gil is the pefect hero. He's all macho and protective and when he discovers Jenna's secret he becomes a man and takes care of her. Jenna is definitely so strong and knows how to be independent. She's not obnoxious or immature like most heroines in books. When she does get into trouble Gil steps in and saves the day. I was also shocked with one of the two people involved with the murder. Wow!

Perfect ending too!

Tucked into the pages of this sexy story is a bit of suspense and intrigue that made me love it even more. With that, Penny Wylder added a fun twist to this hot and satisfying tale of insta-lust.

Jenna and Gil meet at his quaint hometown's annual festival. He's a woodworker crafting highly sought after furniture...she's photographing the event for her big city employer. While their attraction is instant, their differences are apparent. A passionate weekend that may or may not have a future.

I loved Gil and his lusty ways. On the surface, a gentle giant of a man, but behind closed doors, he's every bit of the forceful lover Jenna craves. He is the epitome of a romance hero, and made this story all the more enjoyable for me. 4.5 stars.

Big Mountain is a quick-to-read, small town murder mystery with the addition of a hot, steamy romance and a night that would change both Gil and Jenna’s lives.
I enjoyed the romance but felt we really didn’t get a lot of depth from the characters. They had an instant superficial attraction and a one night stand. Circumstances brought them back into each other’s lives, otherwise I don’t think either would have pursued the other. When they finally ended up together the second time around I felt the characters definitely had a better connection. I did like that they each were independent and talented in their fields, enjoyed each other as they developed their relationship and were willing to make the sacrifices and put in the work to make a new life together.

Gil is a hometown boy looking for a sexy one-night layover and Jenna is the city girl about to take him up on the offer. Jenna's in town to take pictures of the local fair but included she gets pictures of a murderer and they want her and her photos to disappear. So after a romp in Gil's bed and a meeting with the local detective, Jenna finds herself with a problem that only 9 months can solve. Penny started me out pretty hot and bothered but lost momentum in the middle but it didn't take but a page or two to catch up to full steam. Very much worth your time and you may need a cold shower afterwards.

Yummy

This book had mountain man yumminess!! Who doesn't love a big brawny over-powered man? Gil was so yummy. Jenna was career oriented and practical... But not at all boring! I love how in this story she was the one who kept her head on straight, while the big man was the one who was doing at her feet. There were times in this book that I thought Gil wasn't being too realistic, and Jenna's inner monologue would mimic my own thoughts. These two were so cute, and I love how the book had enough drama and suspense to keep it going. The ending was perfection.

This was probably my favorite Penny Wylder book. I have read at least three others but this one definitely had the best plot/storyline without neglecting the sexy storytelling that is Ms. Wylder’s forte. The reviews were right; the reader easily associates to these characters. Although the plot or story line was quick lived let’s face it, the real draw of these stories is the erotica. Ms. Wylder never disappoints in the respect.

Meh

I guess I had great expectations for this writer. Started off well. But, a murder plot that is completely ridiculous which could have been improved by my seventh grader? I think the sex scenes were the main excuse for this drivel. If you are looking for well developed characters and a great story line, try Emma Chase, Kristen Ashley, Corinne Michaels, Jewel Ann, Suzanne Brockman, Linda Howard, Sandra Brown. So many good ones, so little time!
