In Candid Conversations you’ll read real life stories from real Christian women, and how God has used their struggles to either refine their faith or used their faith to help them weather the storm. From struggling with doubts to dealing with the loss of a loved one, these women lay it all out. They aren’t afraid to get real, because they know God can use their struggles to inspire, encourage, and reach others all for His glory.
Heather Hart, founder of the #CandidlyChristian movement, encourages readers to be honest and look for ways they can relate to each story. Then take that mentality into their everyday lives and start having candid conversations with those around them. Because when we share our struggles, when we are real, that's when we truly point others to Jesus.
So what are you waiting for? It's time to get Candid.
Heather Hart is an internationally best-selling and award-winning author who has written and contributed to over fifty books. She has had featured articles in the Christian Women’s Voice magazine, U Matter Magazine, online newsletters, and been a guest on countless blogs and websites. Heather has also spoken to small groups in person and to thousands through podcasts, radio shows, webinars, and other online events. She has been working in ministry in one form or another for over a decade.
God has given Heather a heart for ministering to women of all ages and helping them grow in their walk with Him. Her goal isn’t to teach women how they can do more, be better, or achieve perfection, it’s to point them to Jesus. While she is an introvert by nature, she can’t contain the message God has laid on her heart.
Many Christian women believe we need to put our "best foot forward" in every situation. We hide behind the facades of perfectionism, poise, and charisma. Meanwhile, we bury our deepest struggles and hidden weaknesses.
Candid Conversations is a powerful tool for examining our struggles and taking the first step toward admitting them to ourselves and to others. The diversity of authors and their uniquely individual stories of struggle make this a book that is relevant in every Christian woman's life. This is a great book for group study and discussion or for quiet transformation individually. I highly recommend Candid Conversations!
Heartfelt, amazing, honest life stories. This is an inspirational book. I plan to read this one again and again. I received a complimentary copy of this book. This is my personal honest opinion. No review was required.
I enjoy conversation but am terrible at making small talk. Put me in a room of people and I freeze You see I would rather have a meaningful conversation with one person than have conversations with many which I will soon forget.
Candid Conversations by Heather Hart, and other contributing authors, is just like having one meaningful conversation after another. Over twenty different women have come together to share their stories – aka – struggles.
Candid Conversations is a collection of stories, testimonies, of real life women with real life struggles. These real life women are not perfect but in the midst of imperfection, they are pursuing Jesus with all their heart and might. They are not content to stay stuck in the struggle but long for transformation and to be all they were meant to be.
Each story is compelling making this book most difficult to put down. In fact, I didn't - I read all of it in one sitting on a quiet Saturday morning with several cups of coffee.
**I received a complimentary PDF of the book in exchange for my review. Candid Conversations is one beautiful and candid conversation after another. You will truly find stories of "real women, real life and real faith" in each one.
Honest and heartfelt conversations in this book! The stories from this book inspire and encourage. Many women think they are alone in their struggles, but this book unmasks that we all struggle in life.
A BOOK REVIEW BY KRISTIN'S BOOK GARDEN~CANDID CONVERSATIONS BY HEATHER Hart and contributing authors
Ihave recently finished reading Candid Conversations which is an anthology by Heather Hart and contributing authors. This is a beautifully written book that shares the experiences, feelings, thoughts and deepest emotions of Christian women. Each excerpt is fairly, easy to read and has a series of questions for reflection after each candid conversation. I quickly connected to each conversational testimony. I felt deeply touched about each heartfelt experience shared. The conversational excerpts were extremely and deeply emotional reading. The faith that each woman possessed despite their differences in their experiences were inspirational. I think this is an exceptional book for all women to read. I found it comforting to read this book for a variety of reasons. It candidly reinforces that your feelings are real, that your faith is real and that you are not the only one who experiences obstacles, trials, and struggles. No matter what our experiences are that we have to endure, we are all unified in Christ’s love for us. That he will never leave us or forsake us. That what he did on the cross is enough….Having those Candid Conversations help us to remember that. It strengthens our faith. We all experience “real life,” we all strive to strengthen our faith, and we are “real Woman.”
The stories in this book are all very inspiring. The authors of each story are all very special people. You won’t be able to stop reading this book. I had the honor to review this book for one of the authors. I would give this book a higher rating than a five star review if I could.
This is such a open an honest look into the lives and challenges of women today. It shows so many different things we face as we grow in our faith in Christ! I believe many discussions give you a validation to the struggles you are feeling or have felt. I know many of us don't feel comfortable opening ourselves up easily in groups of people however believe these conversations show how many others have truly struggled with some of the same things in their lives. For me it is natural to look at other women & from the outside it looks like they have it all "together". But if you make the effort to get to know them it will quickly show that they are not that different than you. We all have our own strengths and weaknesses as well. This book is a beautiful tool anyone can use to begin these raw, open discussions with other women to help us learn together to use God & His Word to grow and mature in our faith. I found myself consistently going back to reread different discussions. As the Bible so often does, it seems like I can see & learn new things depending on my current situations at that time! I will most certainly continue to read this book many times over. I would easily recommend this to anyone looking to grow in their spiritual life individually and even more to use as a group discussion guide!
I took this book with me to read while on vacation, and started reading it while my husband was driving. It didn't take very long before I started sharing bits and pieces out loud with him, as it was so good. Soon after that, he asked me to start reading entire chapters out loud, he was enjoying it so much! Time and again I could relate with something an author had shared, either having experienced it personally, or it helped me to understand a loved one in my life. Even Christians have struggles in their lives--but God is always there! Highly recommend!
The simple conversations in this book are inspirational, but easy to read. I found myself reading 2 or 3 in a day. A few days later, I still found myself thinking about or quoting what had been in the "conversation ".
I received a pdf copy of “Candid Conversations: Real Women. Real Life. Real Faith” by Heather Hart, in exchange for my honest review. This book is a compilation by several Christian female authors. The premise of the book is to engage with people in an open fashion. The authors openly share a part of their lives with the reader. They talk about real life situations, problems, emotions, and expectations. They are presented in a fashion that exposes the authors as human, just like the reader. The point of the book is not to come up with specific solution to problems, but to let the reader know that they are not alone in their struggles. Each section has a page of questions that allows you to dig deeper in to the topic and reflect on how it relates to you. The questions also include bible verses that go along with the selection. It would be a good page to use if the book were part a discussion group.
Because the book has several writers, different sections flow in different ways. For the most part, it was written in a way that captured my attention and drew me in. There were situations expressed that I have found myself in and some that I could never even imagine. For the most part, the stories were shared in a way that I found myself being empathetic to the writer even if I had never experienced a similar situation. There were a couple parts where I didn’t quite understand what was being addressed. Additionally, a couple of the authors wrote in a way that did not flow for me. Overall, I enjoyed the book. I would recommend it to anyone who does not have a perfect life and to those who think they do. I plan to read it again.
This book is geared to women but all can benefit from it. I appreciated each authors vulnerability and candidness. Some stories stuck with me more than others and all made me think. I can see myself using this book as a candid conversation starter as venture to know others on a deeper level.
