The author of this book, Nikhil Pradhan, is only the third fiction author from Sikkim to be published by a top traditional publisher. Due to certain unavoidable circumstances, I couldn't attend the book launch, but a few weeks later, I grabbed a signed copy from our beloved, award-winning local bookstore, Rachna Books.

I was confused when the author in the foreword insists that the book is based on a true story and nothing in it is fictional. The confusion (and hesitation) arose as I generally don't read non-fiction. Nevertheless, I began reading and the story gripped me immediately.

The narration style is unique, the author using text messages, emails, WhatsApp conversations, audio and video surveillance to knit the plot. The thrill factor and intrigue grows as the story progresses, and I was left spellbound. However, the ending felt a bit far-fetched and somewhat diluted the author's conviction of the story being entirely fact, not that it is impossible but it is quite unlikely that something like that could have happened.

There is not much emphasis on the characters as the plot is the king in this genre fiction, yet I could feel for both the lead characters at times. Due to the different style of plot construction, there is not much scope for descriptions, but wherever they are present, they are well written. The story tugged at my heart once or twice towards the beginning, but after that it failed to make me emotional, something that I consider to be the hallmark of an unforgettable book.

However, the writing style is remarkable and filled with class. The author's command over the language is admirable, and using his thorough vocabulary, he has done a stellar job of narrating this complex, unique story.

Despite the slightly implausible ending, this debut work by the author is wonderful, and I would certainly look forward to reading more from him.

4 stars from my side.

How about reading a thriller novel where the confirmations and documentation of the investigation are served instead of exclusive narration mentioning how things happened. Intriguing? Isn’t it?
Cold Truth is one such off-centre Indian thriller where the plot is developed over newspaper prints, video, and audio transcripts, WhatsApp messages, extracted email threads and much more. It’s a book which gives the vibes of pragmatic case uncovering with the gradual presentation of facts and discovered accounts of the search instigated.
Sakshi Prakash, a ten-year-old girl goes missing from East Delhi which appended to the already long list of missing children from this area. The narrator as a journalist tries to explore the concrete reason behind such abductions when even the police commissioner didn’t seem to care. This search leads from Delhi to Russia and then to Antarctica covering the cruel truth of humanity.
The thrill with which the book starts doesn’t let you take a break until you put it down willingly or tiredly. It draws you into a real adventure of knowing the story and uncovering the plot step by step. Furthermore, presenting the story in a creative way, the author was able to entice the reader’s attention thereby triggering his curiosity.
The book is promising in terms of presentation and research, the author has put in. Writing is effortless except where medical and scientific words in transcripts have been used. However, in mid of the book where constant documentation had been revealed, it got unexciting while reading and I felt that fed information was quite extended too.
I would recommend this book to the readers who want to read an observational and innovative thriller. I’m sure it will not disappoint thriller lovers. Overall, it’s a good book.

Cover has been designed well. Especially the portrait of the doll lying lonely personifies the young girl in the story.

Title is apt, catchy. It's unique & bold.

The story begins with the sudden mysterious disappearance of a little girl aged 10 named Sakshi from her Locality, located in East Delhi. Her father lodged a complaint. Apparently, the police seems to be doing nothing & shows a lackadaisical attitude towards the case. That's when a journalist steps & takes the initiative upon herself to find the leads - on the case to take the investigation forward on her own accord. The story has been presented accordingly from the perspective of the journalist. With various tactics, pursuits, aspects & also help from numerous sources like spies, she is determined to find out what exactly conspired. As things take shape & story proceeds, it was seen that a large governmental agency is involved & the conspiracy is revealed, which evidently shows that Sakshi was a mere pawn in a bigger picture - in the huge conspiracy of things. It's because corruption seeps through every fragment & has a intricate framework in all the major & minor departments.

But what does a young girl going missing from Delhi has to do with an international conspiracy? Will the girl ever be reunited with her family or is her fate already sealed? What will it cost the young journalist for taking an interest in the case?

Story is fast- paced, set up in a dark background & the reader is taken from country to continents like Delhi to Russia to Antarctica respectively, all the while keeping the readers engaged, intrigued & entertained! What makes the reading experience totally fascinating is Newspaper articles, voice notes whatsapp chats, voice transcriptions and documents are used to bring out elements of the story.

Language is good. It has been composed & presented in a sustainable suspense. And has been balanced throughout with good narration. Overall, a must read for all the thriller lovers!

Cold Truth. .
.
I was immensely lucky to bump into the author in my favourite bookstore couple of days ago. The author is a very humble man who makes time to talk to readers. And I’m so glad I bought his book because this read was something else :) .
.
When a ten year old girl Sakshi goes missing from Delhi, a journalist’s internet is piqued. The cops show no interest in the case of Sakshi and other hundreds of children who disappear everyday. When the Journalist takes the lead and digs up details surrounding the missing kids, dirty secrets start spilling out. Records show that Sakshi wasn’t the only child who disappeared without a trace but there were many children who vanished off the face of Earth. The story starts unravelling in the coming chapters. The skeletons in the closet that was carried to Delhi from Russia, the clinical involvement in Antarctica, and secret documents leaked by a trusted source, these are what made this story a mind blowing read. .
.
The plot is exceptionally well thought and has been executed flawlessly. The character of the journalist and his acquaintance who helps him in resolving the case are very well written. All the details and the research that the author must have done over the period of time are commendable. The fascinating thing about this book is the way it has been penned down. Keeping aside the usual and mundane way of writing a story, the author has been clever in interpreting the story in the form of whatsapp message, newspaper clippings and also journal entries. .
.
It’s a cold blooded story written with utmost care and perfection. Something that would rattle the nerves of a mystery lover. You will have to wait till the very last page for your answers. Is Sakshi still alive and well? What was the thing that the scientists discovered in Antarctica? What is that thing, really? .
.
I finished reading this book in a day because it made me a curious-head to find the answers. Considering how the author worships Stephen King, this book has that aura of horror and supernatural fiction to it. .
.
.
I would rate the book 4.5/5.

A ten year girl has gone missing and her concerned father has filed a police report. But the police seem to be twiddling their thumbs about the matter. It is only when a young journalist starts asking questions that people start to get concerned. But what does a young girl going missing from Delhi has to do with an international conspiracy? Will the girl ever be reunited with her family or is her fate already sealed? What will it cost the young journalist for taking an interest in the case?

The blurb of the book itself raised a lot of questions in the readers mind assuring that it would be picked up. Once I started reading, I couldn’t stop… as I just had to ‘know’. The author has woven an interesting plot that keeps the readers engaged and entertained till he is done with telling the whole story.

“When morality comes up against profit, it is seldom that profit loses.”

— Shirley Chisholm

Cold Truth is a horrifying story that lays bare the consequences of man’s greed for more–more money, more power, more control.

It follows a journalist’s search for a missing girl through emails, WhatsApp voice messages, newspaper reports, press releases, letters, diary entries, interviews and even Reddit posts. As she uses her sources to dig deeper into the case, she realizes that it is much more than a missing persons case.

The story stretches from a modest house in Delhi to the unwelcome embrace of Moscow to the freezing climes of Antarctica. Its scope is so expansive that I had to put in some mental effort to hold all the threads in place and figure out what was happening.

I hadn’t expected the pacing to be so steady since the book is basically bits of information held together by WhatsApp conversations. The author’s writing style is brilliant and his mastery over the English language makes it a pleasure to read. Even when I wasn’t reading the book, I was thinking about it.

We see corporate greed and political one-upmanship, a tug-of-war between regulation and indiscriminate research and the inner workings of intelligence agencies. It is all very exciting but it also shows how people think nothing of sacrificing innocent children to further their purpose. I don’t think even the most jaded reader will fail to be moved by the heartbreaking portrayal of the parents of the missing children.

What didn’t quite work for me was the out-there ending. The narrative changes tone in the last few pages and becomes, for lack of a better phrase, a mind-bending explanation of events. It felt like a splash of cold water to be offered a metaphysical reasoning after staying firmly realistic throughout the story.

If you like your thrillers unconventional, a bit bloodied and full of unrestrained ambition, Cold Truth is the book for you.

Plot summary:

On one unfortunate day, 10-years-old Sakshi Prakash goes missing from the East Delhi. Her parents tried hard to find her but nothing happens. Even the police authority doesn’t want to look at this case. Gradually, this case just shut down under the other bulky cases of the city.

However, there is one journalist who decided to find Sakshi. She studied this case and find out that this case is not just a normal kidnapping. Through her contacts, she managed to get help from intelligence and they provide him ex-military office, Abhay Chaudhary.

Just like the onion, the journalist removed the layer of truths with the help of media reports, archives, sources, Whatsapp messages. Abhay becomes a great helping hand for her and they both connected this case to Russia.

Soon, they find that the kidnapping is a well-planned conspiracy as Sakshi is suffered from a rare type of diabetic.

Both were chasing the cold truth, but they both are unaware that they are going deeper in the mess, from where there is no chance to come.

Will the journalist able to find Sakshi? What is the reason behind Sakshi’s disappearance? What is the cold truth? Read this book to know further.

Writing style:

The book is not written like any other book, the author has developed the story with the help of news report, conversation and archives. The narration is simply amazing and will hook you till the last.

My perception:

This is not just an ordinary crime-thriller; this is a disturbing crime-thriller, where the cold truth literally shook you. Being a common people we can’t even imagine that a girl’s disappearance links to the biggest conspiracy. The author has written this book in a unique way and I really find it hard to digest that this book has fewer reviews. This book is one of its own kinds where you will not hold yourself to know what is going to happen next. I finished this book in two sittings. The author’s hard work reflected in the book, which also showcases the dark side of humanity as well as to which extent human can go to discover something.

A beautifully written, nail-biting suspense, which is a must-read for every thriller lovers!

In the green maze, humans were searching for the miracle, lest they knew, they have encroached upon the dark Devil's land who will bleed them to death.
An epistolary novel which starts with an investigation of ten year old missing girl Sakshi Prakash by a young journalist. But as he divulge deep into the case, he unearths some bone chilling truths. The story takes the reader from dirty slums of Delhi to Secret Camps on no man's land Antarctica passing through the highly sensitive power crazy Russia. The mind boggling scenes kept me glued to the book till the end.
The author told the whole tale in a very unique style using series of documents, secret mails, detailed interviews and WhatsApp conversations.Despite the unusual approach,a readers can easily piece together the story. The thrill quotient get hyped with discovery of new links.A hair raising plot-line which adroitly exposed the fame crazed drive of the intellectuals and power thirsty lobbyist who brutally exploits the weak.
Human life ebbing away with every passing moment plagued by lies, conspiracies, life altering experiments and supremacy struggle. The plot raises some serious questions about the result of uncontrolled exploits in the name of science, the inability of system to contain crime and the vulnerability of a human life.
The subject will loom over your mind for a long time refusing to desert without giving a serious thought about all the present happenings.

I am a big fan of suspense & mystery novel especially, spy series' or books. I was expecting to read a story which gives me goosebumps & comples me to put into 'what next ' situation.
"Cold truth' did proper justice to my need.
✍️
As far as suspense is concerned, this book binded me from very first page because of unique writing style of the author,or rather would like to specify that writing style of the novel is in an epistolary format .
A missing 10years girl Sakshi Prakash from East Delhi, was carried the whole plot to Russia, to Antarctica ... eventually dirty truth was revealed by trusted source.
conveying the whole information through chats, newspaper articles, offical documents...so many different elements have made this book an intriguing plot.
Journal narration style which phase in and out have this story worthwhile.one would find cross-referencing which shared international conspiracy, negligence of government or different agencies , possibilities of the unknown, corruption in the name of science.
Author cleverly has been penned down these dirty but cold truths with perfection in an unusual way.
Characters of journalist and his associate who helps him in resolving his case are well sketched.
✍️
This book will give you a goosebumps for sure, you'll be forced to forget that this book has been written by a debutant.i'll recommend it to everyone who wants to read dark suspense.

An incredible thriller with drama.
The story of a missing girl,Sakshi. Police trying to find her but there efforts are not enough to find her. A journalist takes up the charge and unfolds an international plot.
The author has done a wonderful job in terms of plot, writing style and language.
Revealing the corruption in government agencies. The story telling by Nikhil in terms of conversations, whatsapp chats, mails is very fresh. The hopping between the places i.e Delhi, Russia, Antartica is smooth and not confusing.
I liked the book because it is fast paced, well written and researched plot, elements of thrill and Originality.

Well, you will not find this book just like any other mystery novels, neither in a narrative way. The Author has simply filled this book with proper investigation and the collective proofs and documents he has arranged for his long time research and development. This thing really made this book exceptionally wow. While reading you will find some innermost shivers which made this book unputdownable. The best part is, he has plotted this book with his investigative proof one by one and step by step. Quite fascinating and ingenious. If you observe one thing, you will find the revealed documents were presented in a natural way, as if you are reading a newspaper not a novel. That was a wow. If you are a centric suspense and thriller fan then I would like to say this book is beyond any other stereotype suspense novels. Don’t worry, you will not be disappointed at all. This is something new you should read and try to understand the Mystic faults of Governments and Police Department. In fact, this is literally subjective, which has been raised by Author Nikhil Pradhan. I really loved this book throughout till the end. Thanks Harpercollins for sending me this review copy. I would love to rate this book 4.5/5.

The hero of this book is its plotline, which compels you to ask after every chapter, "what next" - something you expect from an excellent mystery novel. There is much more to the story than what its description will lead you to believe...the kidnapping of Sakshi being a part of a wider net of conspiracies, lies and experiments, all weaved together in a seamless fashion with barely a hiccup in the flow of the story. Overall, a stunning debut by the author!

First, the book grabs your attention by its enticing blurb. Then it lives up to the expectation through its unique style of writing and an intriguing storyline. The epistolary style of writing- the narrative is ingeniously crafted in the form of WhatsApp messages, voice mails, police reports, leaked emails, and interviews- makes this book unique which deserves plaudits for its resourcefulness and research- an example of intelligent storytelling. On the other hand, a captivating plot keeps you engaged and excited with the revelation of bone-cuddling truths- you will be constantly wondering what next! what next!

Based on true events, the book narrates the story of an international conspiracy that started from the disappearance of children. The callousness of the police led a journalist in collaboration with a retired army person to investigate the case and unshroud the mystery of missing children which takes them from Delhi to Russia to Antarctica as they get entangled in a wider net of conspiracies, lies, and stratagem. The story is filled with so many shocking and thought-provoking revelations about the dark side of humanity, science, and medical experiment. It is a little creepy and gross in some places and a bit emotional and tear-inducing. The victimization of humans for scientific experiments shown in the book is striking. It begs questions on the limit of science and unethical practices for profit-making. It should be considered as a parable for the world- Misuse of science can lead to doomsday for the world.

One amazing thing about the book is that despite its complex narrative it is surprisingly an easy read. The only disappointment is the ending. The story seems to be faltering in some last pages. The climax is inadequately described. It felt a bit implausible. I had to rush through this part just to get over it once and for all. It would have been a perfect read had the ending not been so confused and far fetched. Nevertheless, the book is an off-center Indian thriller commendable for its writing style and investigative story.

Sakshi Prakash is a 10-year-old girl who goes missing from East Delhi. While the police are making zilch efforts to uncover the mystery behind her disappearance, a journalist follows the trails left behind by other such possible child kidnappings, and ends up unveiling an international conspiracy that’ll take the world by storm. Written in an epistolary format, Cold Truth packs a punch with its emphasis on corruption and the possibilities of the unknown.

While I’m always ready to devour a good mystery novel, it soon became apparent that Cold Truth was not what it looked like. It’s not a basic suspense fiction. The search for Sakshi spirals out and we come to realize how other cases, governments and agencies are involved in covering up certain life-altering mistakes. Amidst themes of conspiracy, experiments and the pursuit of truth, the plot execution has been managed splendidly. I would give brownie points to the author for thinking of such an intriguing plot.

As for the writing style and language, I’d say this book is apt for intermediate readers. Conveyed through chats, newspaper articles, voice transcripts, official documents and other different elements, the story is pieced together by the journalist’s narration. There are portions where the writing makes use of some medical jargon, but apart from that, the style is quite straightforward. If you’re not used to reading many jaw-dropping books, you should prepare yourself for the insane amounts of gaping-mouth scenarios that are inevitable once you begin reading this novel of Nikhil Pradhan’s. It is simply mind-blowing!

One issue I have with the book is that at times, I felt that the narrative would digress from the focal point of the scene/the chapter. The unnecessary bits could’ve been done away with. But on the whole, it is a spellbinding tome of 200 odd pages, which I finished in a sitting. This is one of those books (right up my alley!) that I’m not going to forget anytime soon. So highly recommend it!

Rating – 4.5 out of 5 stars

What do you get out of it? An unputdownable thriller that not only explores certain serious themes but also has a peculiar ending.

Thank you HarperCollins India for sending me a copy of this book in exchange of an honest review.

The story starts with the disappearance of ten year old Sakshi.
Things start going crazy as when the search goes deeper.
An award winning author trying to get the link; a CBI spy trying his best to crack hold of the mystery; horrifying truths getting revealed.
Why was Sakshi kidnapped?
Was it just one of those girl child kidnapping racket or is there something more?
Sakshi has got something which makes the kidnapping a lot more than it seems to be.
It goes back to the times of war; scientists fighting for patents and contracts from big companies; jealousy and murders hidden in the midst of it all.
Are the governments involved or do they trigger such unknown, dirty secret killings?
The scientists and researchers involved in the hushed up research gets something in return that demands their lives and sanity.
Even those who came to know a wee bit cannot escape once they come to know of it.
What is it that they are so afraid of?
What is the government of Russia hiding?
What is the main scientist Dr Milind Prabhakar hiding from the world?
What is this 'something' that disillusions and kills anyone that comes near it?
Is something hiding in the Antarctica that shrieks to shut down the human race?
Or is it the ultimate answer as the cure of this rare disease?
Did the scientists survive?
What happened to the research?
Does it get the so called author as well in the end?
Who will survive in the end?
Or is it the beginning of something terrifying...
👍A very engaging read!
Kudos to the author. A fast paced, thrilling, gruesome read indeed! ▪️Rating: 4/5⭐️

Highly intriguing and extremely, rather unnervingly detailed in the whole process involving different secretive departments and their patterns, Cold Truth gives an insight the whole process of it's journey towards uncovering the truth. The way the book has been presented is intelligent and something fresh. The evidential and questionable touch on non-fiction deliberately to give the fiction a more "realistic" touch is interesting and intensive. What turned out to be a bit off about the book was the gradual ending with last part to be carried on by Abhay. The suspense of the whole book ends up into something very carelessly and inadequately described, far fetched. The touch of reality is completely rubbed of with the distasteful and prolonging stench of unmanageable fiction. I highly enjoyed the book throughout the whole journey with just the final revelation and ending to be dissatisfactory. However, I also think that it is my personal opinion and may vary from reader to reader. I would differently recommend it for a short and thrilling read.

COLD TRUTH by Nikhil Pradhan is a medical thriller with surprises every corner you get sucked into the story. Fact is bitter than fiction. When a story is revolved around facts it sounds so natural and addictive. This book belongs to this category. From the beginning to the end the tale hooks me and it is deftly unputdownable read once we begin o read it.

This book talks about the medical experiment and the events associated with it are scary and sinister. It is a story of greediness and deceits trial and error method, risks, and dangers of hope and pain.

The Plot

The book starts with a big bang. The novel starts with a bang. The missing oF Saksi Prakash 10 years old. Her father Anand Dev Prakash a professor at Jawaharlal Nehru University has filed a complaint but there is no police action. There are four parts captioned The Missing, Russia, Trinity and Land's End. The tale ends with Epilogue.

The author narrates the story in his voice. It's indeed his memoir involving the investigation he makes for finding out the girl. In this mission, he gets the assistance of Abhay Chaudhary from Military Intelligence. The doctor who is treating Sakshi as she suffers from diabetes. is Dr.Sudhir Mhatre and he is found dead.

Both the title and cover go with the theme of the book. Abhay intensifies his search for the girl and he leaves for Russia as he doubts the involvement of the Soviet experiment. This leads to so many revelations about the research.Whether he could find out the girl?who is directly involved in the kidnapping of the girl? For answers you have to read it.

The blurb highlights the chilling secrets and long-deal skeletons tumble out

Book Name: Cold Truth
Author: Nikhil Pradhan
Genre: Thriller, suspense
Publisher: Harper Collins
Plot: When ten-year-old Sakshi goes missing from East Delhi, almost no one, including the police, seems too concerned. Not until a curious journalist begins to ask questions. Soon, she cracks open a can of worms, and what started as an innocuous investigation into corruption and systemic apathy begins to reek of a larger and terrifying conspiracy, as chilling secrets and long-dead skeletons tumble out. Pieced together using police reports, detailed interviews, leaked emails, WhatsApp conversations and much more, this extraordinary debut takes you from the bylanes of Delhi and the communist bunkers of Russia to the frozen grounds of Antarctica, following a trail that will leave you questioning what is real and what isn't.

My opinion: This is a debut novel by the author, I was definitely excited to read this because genre is thrill (mine favourite🙈), finally got my hands on this! I was surprised because the storyline was too amazing. I still can't believe that a debut can be so gripping! I personally love the way author tried to keep reader engaged no matter what situation was coming during the story, fantastically he has portrayed the story by taking the reader to many countries( that was the favourite part). I highly recommend this one to everyone who loves reading thrillers. The cover is so amazing & gives the actual picture of the storyline. The title does go with the storyline. This one definitely would be added in my favourites!

Pros: The book is cost effective, worth read. It was short, not elaborative. The language was easy & supple- even beginners can it a try because of so easy & outstanding language. Plot was gripping, I was always curious to know what will happen next. The climax was so amazing & unpredictable. Plot was fast paced. I am so happy to pick this up (it's worth reading). The entire story was presented in a unique form i.e., letters, mails, newspapers, etc, which was very rare & unique. I am waiting to read more books from him.

Cons: No noticeable cons.

Name- Cold Truth
Author- Nikhil Pradhan
Genre- Thriller
Pages- 220

Cold Truth by Nikhil Pradhan is a one of its kind of thriller. A fast- paced story, presented with the unique writing style is sure to keep the reader hooked from beginning to end.

The story begins when a little girl aged 10, Sakshi, disappears from her locality in East Delhi. When the police is doing nothing to take the investigation forward, a journalist takes it upon herself to find leads on the case. Taking help of various sources and even spies, she is hell bent to see the larger picture. Soon, a large governmental conspiracy is revealed which makes it clear that Sakshi was just a pawn in a big game. Every level is corrupt and not willing to work in the investigation. The fast- paced story takes you from Delhi to Russia to Antarctica, all the while keeping you intrigued.

The entire story is narrated by the journalist. Newspaper articles, whatsapp chats, voice transcriptions and documents are used to bring out elements of the story. This unique way gives the reader space to form opinions about the proceedings. Though, at times it made me feel a certain disconnection from the story. But the plot is amazing. Such an intriguing plot that you are kept pondering about the story. It sure can't be guessed. The climax left my mouth open. There are many moments which will leave you in shock. The setting of the story is in East Delhi, precisely Mayur Vihar, where I live so for me it was somewhere personal too. The mind-blowing plot and writing made me forget that it is Pradhan's debut. It is a must read by thriller lovers.

The book is really interesting, a totally new concept by the author, the novel is about incident already happened and known to the media, the book is a transcript of how that incident happened and who is responsible for that is thoroughly defined, here the documentation of investigation being presented to the readers.

Sakshi prakash a 10 year old girl went missing from Delhi, which links to already long lost of
children’s from that area. The novel describes that even police commissioner and high official doesn’t care for the missing children’s, that force’s author to further investigations which leads to Russia and then to Antarctica which unveils the cruel truth of humanity.

The story takes the readers from dirty lanes of Delhi to Russia and further to a secret camp of Antarctica. The writing style of author is unique; he uses a new technique like Whatsapp conversation, secret mails etc. I liked the novel it’s an eye opening book on how in the name of science humans are being used for experiment for their research and they create panic to use their medicine to make lot of money.

Written in innovative way, a well researched novel on a particular incident, which keeps readers hooked up till the last page. I highly recommend this book to mystery lovers and to those who want to read medical thriller.

**“I received this wonderful book from Publisher in exchange for an honest and unbiased review, a heartily thank to Harper Collins for the book.”

Cold Truth
Nikhil Pradhan
HarperCollins.
2018. Pp - 220.

There are few thrillers that keep you up and "thrill", as they're meant to. Cold Truth, is one such read.

I don't know where shod I begin from, everything from the writing style, narration, plots and plot twists, characters and storylines- the author's efforts are visible and most importantly, worth appreciating.

This is a story of 10 year old girl who goes missing without anybody much concerned. Until... A curious journalist brings out the horrifying layers of truth behind this incident. An investigation follows and thus begins the journey of unravelling truths and lies, secrets brought out in the open and the reality uncovered.

Read on to find out what turn this investigation takes, what's the author has in store for you.

The best part about the book is how close it brings the reader to the investigation. Reading through insider information, wats app chats, news reports and files, the reader connects and starts living the story himself/ herself.

I sure had to double check if this was a debut.

An all worth it 4 on 5. You won't regret :')

Cold truth is about a missing 10-year-old Sakshi and a curious journalist that just doesn't let the case close while all the other authorities don't give a lot of heed to the case. He starts to dig a simple case of missing with the help of a partner but ends up into a deeper hole conspiracy that takes us from Delhi to Russia too Antarctica. This debut of Nikhil Pradhan, in the end, leaves you questioning the reality of things and possibilities.
The title could not be more appropriate. The whole book is cold while the truth is much much colder.
The language is blunt and raw with no addition of beautiful elements to the ugly truth that is discovered from time to time. The words create its own world around you. The pieced together structure of police reports, WhatsApp conversations and interviews is different and increases the pace of reading and understanding the book.
Coming to the content, it takes you from Delhi to the stale environment of Russia and further to the cold truth in Antarctica. You can smell it. It's a little creepy and gross and some places, may make you cringe, but you would not want to keep the book down.
I do recommend it especially to the avid readers and thriller lovers for a new experience.
However, please avoid it if you don't want to creep out a little at night.

It's that time of year. When mom's filling in ghee and fruits are praying to the gods and goddesses. 💮✴️

This time, again, I am swept in a mystery so apt for the soul that you wish Winters we're reigning in already, accompanying you in the pursuit of this cold truth. 📖
Nikhil Pradhan has shared his piece of mind aptly in the excitement which the title has to my detective digs. Cracking open clues, all Perry style, if you loved #perrymason you are sure to hang on the cusps of this simple yet enthralling read. @harpercollinsin mashes out the best thrillers, and it is for that reason, we all love the books in this section! Hardly any disappoint. It's a marriage between a good story and better cliff hangers. 📖 Thank you for your love which makes my reading worth the wait! 🍁🤗

The set up is mildly technology inclined so if that interests you more than the usual traditional Agatha Christie, go for it. Be your own judge. Widen your horizons, submit yourself to the 'Cold truth'.

Do you like to get kicks out of good mysteries? Or do you like a new story? A good climax? A terrifying ending?
I rate this ✴️✴️✴️✴️/5

Cold Truth by Nikhil Pradhan is based on a true story. This is the first book that shook me completely.

A ten year old Sakshi went missing from East Delhi. No one cared about that case, even police was also not concerned about her. Her parents also left hope to found Sakshi. Then, a journalist tries to know the truth about missing girl with the help of a detective, Abhay.
This case is not as simple as it seems. The twist came when we got to know that the case starts from Delhi but its roots are from Russia.

How is it possible that a kidnapped child can reach such a horrifying state?
Will Sakshi be found or not?
Will the culprits get punished?

The author used emails, voice messages, interviews etc to make us understand the mystery. The story is written in a very unique manner. After sometime, I would like to read this book again. This book was a brilliant read for me.

I highly recommend it to everyone who wants to read something different from usual.
