Ezequiel es un médico que ha pasado regresa al pueblo durante la guerra civil española. Reflexiona sobre la guerra civil, la resistencia de Madrid y la pena de ver un país dividido y destruido.

El estilo es similar a la generación del 27 e influenciado por autores americanos como Hemingway y Walt Whitman.
