After impulsively leaving his hometown, recent college graduate Alex Beret runs out of money in a surreal, unnamed city and is forced to take on a job delivering newspapers at night. While living in a rundown tenement building, he divides his time between delivering newspapers in the suburbs and looking for anything that could potentially lead to a better future for himself. His endeavors are in vain, though, until he meets the enigmatic businessman Russell McKinley. Though he doesn’t know much about Russell at the start, what’s certain is that Russell is incredibly successful. Luckily for Alex, a different kind of delivery position has just opened up in Russell’s business, one that’s notably beguiling, but also one that Alex knows he should stay away from.
