That cliffhanger!!!!! Now I have to wait for 3 weeks for the rest of the series.
(Does this mean I have become immune for the dubious age gap?)

Hana is pressed into a marriage meeting with Takane, a scion of a business empire, impersonating her sister to save her father's job! Ready to put that fiasco behind her Hana is shocked that Takane actually seems interested in her! She is exasperated by his immaturity but intrigued despite herself at the fun she has as they try to outwit one another...

The Premise

In Takane & Hana vol 10 takes Takane to another vulnerable place and just like in vol 7 its a beautiful, beautiful thing! Okamon has been Hana's friend for years, is her age and quite popular at their school. In other words he's a catch! And he's finally worked up the nerve to share his feelings with Hana. And Takane immediately sees all the reasons that the two of them... fit. I love how we as the reader can totally see why he feels this way. If we leave our heart out of the equation our heads also tell us that Takane and Hana just aren't compatible. But we aren't make decisions of the heart with our heads... or at least we shouldn't be!!

The Buzz

In the managaka note in Takane & Hana vol 10 I was really pleased with what she shared about the series... Nikola says something the mangaka said is the theme of the manga... You don’t have to love everything about a person to be in love with them. You can dislike things, even a lot of things. The question is if you can disregard those things to be with them. GAHHHHH I love this! And Nikola always comes back into this series and injects a bit of insight that we need about Takane. His thoughts make us understand Takane in a way that would otherwise come across as tropey rather than sincere.

The Feels

I really loved how Hana sought Takane's advice in Takane & Hana vol 10 and when he seemed low sought to cheer him up. Sure, Hana is young and not considered an adult yet. And Takane has a lot of responsibility on his shoulders and a narrow view of life due to his wealth. But that doesn't mean these two can't care about one another!! Most of the time I feel like shoujo manga relies on angst to feed the conflict in the story but Takane & Hana vol 10 shows that doesn't have to be the case!! It can arise naturally from the situation and make our hearts melt. Even for poor Okamon who Hana loves just not the way he loves her...

The Visuals

There were a lot of very beautiful and touching frames in Takane & Hana vol 10. I loved on the swings when Okamon and Hana talked. I loved her reaction to his confession. I love different moments between Takane and Hana from living together. I think this more than anything has shown a light on how different the two of them are and that certainly has not been lost on Takane. I also melted at the face to face confrontations of our two potential love interests! The best manga stories are highlighted and emphasized by the art and Takane & Hana vol 10 shows that to good effect!

Takane & Hana vol 10 shows Takane isn't invulnerable to Hana and her feelings. He puts on a good show but his heart is totally committed! Our silent and sweet Okamon is just as worthy and he makes a good effort but he already knows where Hana's heart lays... Can these two, with some major differences between them still find love?! I can't wait to see more in the next volume of Takane & Hana!!

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Authenticity
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Tension
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Plot
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Art

Turns out when you want an unproblematic age gap shojo, this fits the bill. The banter is soo cute and Okamon maybe in another girl's life you'll be the main character but not in his one.

I'm frustrated but I like her retorts in all of the conversations and their dynamics is fun to read.

Well, crap, this was book 10! I am still surprised that I have hung around this long for the series. Although, I have to say that I have enjoyed these books so much! I have finally admitted that this series is my guilty pleasure, and I am anxious to read the next one!

Book 9 was not as good as I had hoped it would be, but this one sure made up for it! Lots of giggles and smiles on my part. I feel like I am Hana's age every time I read one of these, and that is a good feeling. :)

This one is lovely one. Takane and Hana are starting to realise things even if they are not being honest with one another (and we all know it's their competitiveness that is stopping them for being honest). Hana and Okamun were lovely as well.

We also see a softer side of Takane as well which is lovely.

Ah, so cute~
Takane looks like someone kicked his puppy after Hana says she's not in the mood to play with him!
And the little nosebloom is such a cute way of illustrating the kiss :3
Also, the bonus dream comic is hilarious all-around, especially the snapping flowers into existence and Hana's impersonation of Takane.

I devoured the series over the course of a couple of months. Took a little longer than I hoped because a few of them decided to take forever from Amazon. Hana ends up roped into taking her older sisters place in a marriage match never expecting that anything would come from it. Instead a we get a very sweet comical whirlwind romance between her and Takane.

I ended up reading the first one and instantly ordering the rest of them it's such a cute series kind of a enemies to lover romance between them. I loved Hana she's an adorable character and I think because of her I'm going to do bubblegum pink hair next. Each manga has the pair growing as characters. Takane had a lot of growing to do but he get's there eventually.

The artwork is as equally lovely as the story. I was captivated right from the start and fell in love with Hana and Takane's story. This is one of my favorite series that I'm so glad I purchased the set. They will always have a special place on my bookshelf and I know they will get some re-reads as I wasn't ready to say goodbye just yet. I plan to read the authors other manga as I loved this one so much. Highly recommend a perfect sweet romance.

I know Okamon had zero chance, but I SOOOOOOO wish he did have one!! *sobs endlessly*

I have not felt this conflicted in wanting a side "love interest" to win the heroine's heart since I read Strobe Edge and my poor heart is like THEY SHOULD BE A HAPPY SHOJO COUPLE!!

*sigh*

Its still a really great series (and I definitely love seeing Takane and Hana together), even if I was totally mad at Takane for a short bit. (Another winning point for Okamon there in that situation LOL). I also once again admire how Hana was so thoughtful in her responses in the beginning and how caring she is.

I LOVED the backstory with Nicola and Takane! That was a fun and interesting bit to know about how they met!

Also that moment near the end!!! Ahhhhh! Totally unexpected!! I'm debating if I want to start the next volume tonight or wait until tomorrow to start it!

Nicola is such a good character. I love his more serious moments a lot. I'm glad to see the relationships progress a bit more. I'm also glad we've kind of moved past the relationship between Nicola and the friend. I say this and it'll probably come back next volume lol.

Man Takane has come a long way since the first volume, his progression in this whole series has been Phenominal. The fact that he admitted that he wanted to know more about Hana's interests and things that she admired is so sweet. Another reason why this is the best volume so far is how Hana was able to be honest with Okamon that she didn't return his feelings was honorable and just downright honest. Let's just say that I loved this installment and will definitely read the next one.

This is honestly more like a two stars to me, but I am continuing with the series even though I'm not the biggest fan of it so I will round up. Well I did not particularly like this volume and Takane is a huge baby.

I'm grateful that this volume returned more to the normal, or new normal, of the series. Okamon gets rejected, Hana and Takane Nicola comes to visit, shares an important insight on love (you don't need to like their imperfections, or not be annoyed by them, you just have to love them despite that), and gives the backstory on how he and Takane became friends. This volume is worth it solely for that, if you ask me. We also see Hana's friend who's dating Take Jun, the idol, and a bit of their relationship, after the girls go to one of his concerts. Takane is there too, so he can see something Hana likes, since he wants to understand her interests more (I swear he puts it more romantically in the book, haha!). Takane also has a birthday (he's 27!) and Overall, this volume was really nicely done, and I enjoyed it more than the last one. Less Okamon, more smaller shifts within our main couple's understandings of each other, and the usual great humor, which I prefer. 5 stars.

If you haven't already read Takane & Hana #1 (my review here) you should really start this adorably subversive age difference shojo romance.

The antics continue in this volume, as Takane's birthday rolls around. The not-quite-a-pair celebrate in their customary style, and Shiwasu gives actually helpful perspectives on love. While their hijinks are fantastical, and the age difference still a little weird, the romance and love in this manga is still highly realistic.

I wish I had been able to have this manga when I was growing up; books and media gave me such a skewed idea of what love is like, and Shiwasu continues to show what love *really* feels like in the highs and lows. Sometimes a little melodramatically, but that's sort of the package deal for manga.

Today's manga post is on Takane & Hana, Vol. 10 by Yuki Shiwasu. It is 200 pages long and is published by Shojo Beat. The cover has Hana jumping into Takane and pushed him back. As it is the tenth in the series, you need to have read the first nine volumes to understand the story. The intended reader is someone who likes comedy, shojo manga. There is no foul language, no sex, and no violence in this manga. The story is told from third person close mostly of Hana. There Be Spoilers Ahead.
From the back of the manga- When Hana’s childhood friend Okamon confesses that he’s in love with her, Hana goes into a total panic! Can she possibly return his feelings? And once Takane finds out, all bets are off on how he’ll react to the news!

Review- Okamon's confession throws everything out of balance for Hana and Takane. She had no idea about how he felt and she has to process what she thinks and feels about him too. Takane has to think about those feelings too, as Okamon tells him too. But they fight it out and decide to continue with their relationship as it is. This volume has some serious moments but the comedy is still main focus. Hana continues to be the main force of change in this series, and she moves everything along with her. Takane is becoming more adult-like in his thinking and actions, he really considers what having this odd relationship with Hana could do to her future and he doesn't want to harm her in anyway. Good volume and I look forward to more.

I give this volume a Four out of Five stars. I get nothing for my review and I bought this manga with my own money.

Aufmachung

Better than volume 9 but still not as good as I'd hoped. Watching a 27 year old man continue to be childish and emotionally constipated is getting tiring. Someone said they are waiting for Hana to grow up. I'm waiting for Takane to grow up because she's a teenager; he has no excuse. I'll keep going because I'm more than halfway through (there are 18 volumes) but my pleasure has sadly decreased. I was hoping to get some of that back with the next volume but glancing at the reviews, looks like volume 11 will not be enjoyable. Sigh.

So finished and returned this to the library yesterday, so I can't fully remember any specific comments I want to share about this volume. It maintains status-quo with the rest of the series in terms of quality. I enjoy the characters and the plot, and I like the additional complication with the house in this volume. It's a fun series and I look forward to continuing it and seeing how it will end.

Molto bello e divertente!
Coincidenze?)
Comunque volume molto scorrevole. Si capisce che Takane prova qualcosa per Hana dove la rivelazione d’amore del migliore amico😁

Favorite Banter Moment

Hana texts Takane: Please come home as early as possible.
Takane: I can’t make any promises.
Takane: But I’ll do what I can for your sake. I know you’ve been looking forward to this.
Hana: After 7 p.m. we’ll start replacing the strawberries on your cake with cherry tomatoes, so I’d make a real effort if I were you.
Takane: Stick with “please come home early.”

I read this manga two years ago in 2019 and I never finished it. I thought I would pick it up again. Weirdly, old me skipped volume ten and read eleven instead. Why? To continue on, I obviously have to read ten. I don’t remember much. I was confused and that’s my fault. I don’t think I care for the story or couple anymore. 2.5/5.
