The Collin's house is bombed. Why has the nanny Georgie Manning taken the baby and driven to her employer's ski lodge in Mammoth Mountain? Has she kidnapped baby Grace? is she in league with the bombers? Marshall O'Hara follows her but finds others are also on her trail. Romance, suspense and crime. A chase down Mammoth Mountain and a race through the desert to protect baby Grace from her enemies.
Plenty of intrigue and suspense in this addition to the series.
I felt as if this story really gave a good insight into Georgie, Pat, Kirsten, and Josh. There is a lot of pain and anger expressed by the characters throughout the book, but I think this painted them as real characters. They really had their moments where they were affected by what happened and moments where they needed to rely on one another in order to get through their feelings to continue on with their lives.
Interesting to me that it shows that money isn’t the cure for sadness and anger. Even wealthy couples have their problems too.
This is like having two books for the price of one. The first half of the book focuses on Georgie and Pat after “the incident.” They are on the run, getting to know one another’s strengths and weaknesses. The second half of the book focuses on Kirsten and Josh and the way “the incident” tore their lives apart. While the whole story is based around a group of friends brought together by wealth and professions, it also tells the personal side of how those factors affect their relationships for the good and the bad. While this tells a great story full of action, it doesn’t show a lot of the deeper emotions other than hurt and frustration because of the many misunderstandings and miscommunications.
Loved what the author has done with this book, almost splitting it into two halves. The first is fast paced, the bomb, the 'kidnap', the marshall hot on Georgie's trail. It's all action and breathless. And then we get into the nitty gritty of the story. It's an emotional overload of connections and mystery and misunderstandings. There is some great character growth and insights into all the leading players along with fabulous scene descriptions which keep you turning the pages. Loved the writing style too. Easy to read while keeping the energy high.
"Saving Grace" is almost two stories in one, the first being much more action-packed while the second is more emotional. I'll admit, I enjoyed the action part better, but this was an interesting book and a very riveting read -- the true definition of a page-turner!
