Have you ever wondered what women in the bible would be like today? How they would act, think, talk and dress? Well, Bible Chicks is a collection of short stories depicting the lives of some courageous biblical women who had the honor of being among few women mentioned in the sacred text.
Their stories are written from today’s perspective yet they stay true to the biblical heritage.
It is our hope, by 'updating' their stories, you will get a better understanding of each of the women chosen.
Book one: Woman with the issue of blood, Rehab, Leah and Tamar.
I really enjoyed reading this quick modern day version of bible characters. I love how the author listed the scripture so that one could go back and read the original story line. Great job Khara.
I gave this a 5 star because i would definitely read this again. I love how the author made some of the woman in the Bible (who had the most interesting story) come alive. Through the writing, I was able to picture how everything was happening.
One of the main characters (Rahab) name was spelled wrong and there was a little bit of typos but it didn’t distract from the book.
Though I enjoyed that the woman are suppose to be modern day woman, I didn’t like that a cuss word was used.
Overall, a great book to read in a book club because it definitely open up dialogue to talk amongst your friends.
I enjoyed all of the characters. Most women can identify with each character. We all have something out of whack going on with the body, or as Rehab made a choice to follow Christ, or like Leah felt unattractive or unloved, or like Tamar lost loved ones and desired to make something happen.
This book was so good! I read the Bible verses first then the stories! This author was just awesome! I got a better understanding of the Bible stories I've always loved reading!
I thoroughly enjoyed this book! I love how the author took the events that happened with each woman in the Bible and made it relevant to today’s time. It made these stories more realistic and relatable. I just wish the story about Leah would have played out more. It ended abruptly.
Can't wait to be the next couple of books dedicated by the oropharynx it wasn't afraid we reading the Bible Chase it told me different characters of each Bible character it made the Bible come clear it to me about Ruth we had beronica and Leah they all were three different women with the same goal in mind just to be loved loved by God and loved by people also I will read this book as a star 5 if I had to give it 10 it will be a time may God continue to bless you and bless you richly in your Endeavor in Jesus name I pray with Thanksgiving amen
Four short stories that were from women in the bible that got modernized to fit today's time. This book contained stories about Leah, Rahab, Tamar, and the woman with the issue of blood for 12 years.
Great writing and plot, but I would have loved to read more about her life after years of bleeding and being ostracized. My family and friends will also love the book but desire more about Her future.
I really enjoyed seeing women bible characters betrayed in a modern light. I wanted to find out more about each character, however I am pleased that the writer chose to stay true to the biblical story. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and will definitely be reading Book 2 of this series.
I wish more people with the ability to write would give a contemporary review of some of our biblical women. Many of their stories resonate with times we are living in today. Your interpretation of these women gave me something to think about.
I was not impressed with the current versions of these biblical stories. They are disrespectful in their graphic nature. It was offensive to read them.
Nice quick read on modernized versions of ladies of the bible.
I found I could only relate to the story of the character Veronica, the woman with the issue of blood. I felt her pain and despair having to live as an outcast, very powerful writing to humanize her plight.
The story of Leah, no way to make that story modern in my opinion, not as a woman of the 21st century! Same with Tamar but it was interesting to read.
This was good and really gave a different viewpoint on the accounts from the Bible. Not all the stories ended in a happily every after either. Hopefully there is another after this. In giving an honest review, I gave it four stars because there were editing issues that detract from the quality of the story. Things like subject verb agreement; talking in different Points of view within the same text.
I loved the rendition of the modern spin on these stories about the women in the Bible. It bridges the gap from history to now reminding readers there is hope for our situation. It reminds us how good deeds pay off.
I found the book interesting and I think Khara Campbell did a great job in portraying the women from the Bible. Good job Khara perhaps you will do another book.
