Possession is a terrifying thing. It can happen to anyone, at any time. Some say that possession is brought on through rituals, others say that it can occur through becoming involved in the spirit world in a way that shouldn’t be done. Some believe possession can be brought on through bargaining with the devil himself, while others say that possession is random, and there truly is no way to know for sure who is going to become possessed or when.
If you are a paranormal investigator, if you are religious, if you have studied the spirit world in any way, shape, or form, you know what some of the most common signs of possession are. Some are blatant and obvious – these are the things you see taking place in the movies, and they are the things most people first associate with possession when they suspect it in a friend or loved one.
While there is a lot we can’t answer about possession, there is a lot we can learn – and that is what this book is all about. In it, we are going to go on a journey. We are going to look at ten different real-life accounts of possession and exorcisms, and get a glimpse into the terrifying dark side of the spiritual world.
By the time you have reached the end of this book, you are going to see possession in a whole new light. From understanding how some unfortunate souls were stolen by demons to seeing those who made deals with the devil, this book is going to give you a never-before-seen glimpse inside an evil that is alive and well in the world today.
Since experiencing several of his own paranormal experiences, Joseph has always been a believer of the unusual, weird, crazy and downright insane. He writes only of ‘true’ stories in history, stories that have baffled even the most committed of researchers.
Growing up in Canada but now calling Los Angeles home, Joseph continues to research, write and explain the unexplainable.
Be sure to check out all of his books on true crime, unexplained mysteries, the paranormal and all things bizarre..
While the book offers accounts of modern day exorcisms, there are some key points that ought to be considered. With Roland Doe, his toying with Ouija Boards was taken as an invitation by the demonic to enter into his young life. Unfortunately, there really is no safe use for these things; demons are fallen angels created before the earth was made. Their intelligence far outranks all human capability. Their rebellion against heaven has left them with one intent, to destroy mankind which they hate beyond measure. According to Catholic belief, possession occurs usually because somewhere, somehow, they were invited. Sometimes it is the result of a direct request from the heavenly relm, such as Annalies Michael, who then becomes a victim soul to suffer for the salvation of others. Or, as in the book of Job, where defeat of the demon gloriously shows the power of God. Sometimes people are what is called perfectly possessed, quite happy with the demon directing their lives. Mr. Exton has given us a few good examples of this spiritual phenomenon, and I applaud him. Back to Roland Doe: he was exorcised at the Alexian Brothers Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri. One of the priests present who witnessed the rite recorded it, and left the written account in the room, which was sealed and not used again for any purpose. The hospital was torn down, and while making the building ready for demolition the ledger containing the account was discovered and made public. I understand from research that the young man went on to a successful life, working for NASA until he retired. Buy this book! Amazon also has more books worth looking into by Father Gabriel Amorth, Malachi Martin and Adam Blai, to name a few. Thank You, Mr. Exton!
Though the stories were well written, they all seemed to be basically the same. By the half way point I was rather bored and struggled to finish the book.
