New York Times and USA Today Best Seller L. Wilder brings readers a new addition to the Satan's Fury Memphis series.
The club was at war, fighting an unknown enemy, and as Satan Fury's new enforcer, I was determined to do my brothers proud- no matter what the cost.
Alex Carpenter was a distraction I didn't need nor want. My focus should've been on the club and our latest adversary, but she was a temptation I couldn't resist. Her beauty and innocence captivated me, and just being near her made the shadows of my past seem less daunting. I let her in, but quickly realized that her walls were even more guarded than my own.
When our worlds collide and secrets are unveiled, will our love be strong enough to mend our broken souls or will we continue to be imprisoned by our past?
Shadow is book two of the Satan's Fury MC- Memphis Chapter. This full-length standalone novel is intended for mature audiences only due to the explicit language and violence. Contains no cheating and a swoon-worthy HEA.
Shadow was the second book in the Satan’s Fury - Memphis MC series by L Wilder. It was a spin-off of the original Satan’s Fury MC series.
We met Shadow in book one as the silent and troubled MC brother. He spoke very little and it was obvious he had demons he lived with daily. In book two, we learn he was also smart, gorgeous, well read and totally alpha.
Alex Carpenter was the smart and beautiful bookstore owner where Shadow frequented. We learned quickly that she had secretly been on the run for eight years.
Alex and Shadow didn’t have much contact with each other at first, although they saw each other daily and were very aware of the other. Once they did, there was some push and pull, but not much and I loved watching them quickly develop. Simultaneously, the MC suspenseful plot was unfolding alongside a peek into Alex’s past. Once they connected, the storylines merged and became one big suspenseful and intriguing plot.
It was well written, well developed, dark, and a fast read. It had some editing errors, but none too distracting. Otherwise, it was entertaining and I can’t wait to read Riggs next.
L . Wilder has done it once again , loved everything about this story which wasn't a surprise because I fall for every one of these books . Really liked the characters and story line that was going on with the couple I may have held my breath a few times when some shocking moments were revealed . Shadow can be read as a stand alone but I highly recommend that you start with book one while also getting every read by the author as soon as possible . copy provided for honest review **************************************** hero= `10 heroine= 10 secondary characters= 10 Chemistry= 10 steam= 6 romance= 6 humor= 3 darkness level= 4 action=4 mystery= 4 enjoyment=10 angst= 3 story line= 10 Story ending=10 character development=10 pacing= 10 cover= 10 stars= 5 would I recommend this book= yes would I re read this book= yes would I read future books by this author= yes
*I received a free copy of this book which I voluntarily chose to write an honest review for.
Shadow had one rough childhood which gives him some issues that make him feel damaged. So when he meets Alex and she felt like home he keeps her at arms length. That's fine until events force a change in the situation. Romance and suspense wrapped up in a great MC club. If you like the genre then you will like this book. I really liked it so I give it 4/5 stars.
It took me a while to read this book but after few pages I just couldn't put it down. A classic Motorcycle Club story written by my favorite L. Wilder.
I loved this story and I am loving this series as well and all the characters in it !
This was just a really cute and super sweet romance read with a little bit of drama and a tale filled with a whole lot of secrets.
Alex was a favorite of mine as she was just super sweet ,caring loving, and witty and made me laugh time and time again.
I loved Shadow as well and I loved seeing him open himself up and taking a chance on loving someone and being loved in return.Shadow was a little big broken so this was a big step for him.
Alex and Shadow were super sweet together.I loved that their romance was a little bit of a whirlwind. This couple had amazing chemistry and I love seeing them together and they we also amazing in and out of bed as we had some super sexy scenes.
I loved the plot and how it all played out.I enjoyed the fact that Alex as Shadow's Old Lady played and important part in the outcome of the story. There's a first time for everything...I found Alex to be unbelievable strong to leave it all behind to save the ones she loves. What I loved most about her was not only did she fall in love with Shadow hard and fast she did so with his MC family as well.
This story was where opposites attract and end up being just what the other needs making them perfect for one another. We loved the story from beginning to end and everything in between!
Recommended read to all! Be sure to check out the series to as it totally awesome ! 5 stars
WOW WOW WOW! The Satan’s Fury MC Memphis Chapter just keeps getting better and better and may I just add that Ms. Wilder definitely knows how to spin a MC Web. Shadow as well as the series is full of MC action, suspense, intrigue and romance. The characters are so charismatic that they will have you feeding off every word and action.
Shadow is the enforcer for his MC. He uses that position to help fight his inner demon. Yet he’s still troubled by nightmares and flashbacks. He’s given up on ever feeling total peace or any kind of tenderness in his life. That is until he walks into a bookstore downtown. Something about the place gives him a sense of calm like he hasn’t known since he was a small child. So everyday he stops in, has a cup of coffee and sits and reads for a bit. But one day, he bumps into the the owner, a shy girl named Alex that Shadow can see in her face, has secrets of her own. There is an instant pull between them. But both know inside that they can’t let it amount to anything for their own personal reasons. But sometimes the pull is stronger than one’s inner will.
This is a fast paced exciting story that will keep you on edge (both the OMG sitting on the seat of your pant edge and the hoping for any type of HEA edge). The author has done a phenomenal job with Shadow, making the series even more exciting. I can’t recommend this book and the series enough. I Highly suggest grabbing up both Blaze (book 1) and Shadow (book 2) and start the series ASAP. You won’t be sorry you did!
WOW! Shadow and Alex were perfect!!! I absolutely adored Alex, so many hidden facets to her. And Shadow, oh my, so very broken. These two were made for each other! This couple may very well be one of my favorites by this author. At least so far. We'll have to see, because each book just gets better than the last. Can't wait for more from the Memphis Chapter of the Satan's Fury MC!!!
I can usually count on L. Wilder to have a good balance between biker/MC politics and romance but this one fell heavy on the politics/drama side. It was too much. Too boring. I needed more romance between h/H for me to really enjoy this more than I did.
And what romance we did get wasn't full of chemistry or even convincing for that matter. There was a lot of past-life-info-dumping which is great and everything, but again, it was too much and too boring. It would have been nice to instead have a greater focus on Alex and Shadow and their romance. Instead, it felt rushed, forced, and totally unbelievable since they "felt" something before they had a decent conversation.
That said, it wasn't all bad and I liked that even though I wasn't too keen on the heaviness of drama and politics, it was still nice to see that part of the story progress (and not conclude since there are ends yet to be tied! Yay for foreshadowing!)
I'm sitting here and scratching my head thinking what to say. Because I feel like I will be like repeating myself, once again where Satans Fury is concerned. Each guy is able to own a piece of my heart. And Shadow isn't exception. That tormented beautiful and protective soul. I just wanted to hug him. And keep him. Shadow so deserved happiness in his life. While the club brings some of it into his life, he needed more. He needed Alex. For her to show him, that he deserves it. And that he's good enough. The story itself is catchy and I'm easily dragged into it. If you read previous book, Blaze, you know the club faced some troubles. And while you may think they took care of it, that didn't ended there. The club faced once again with more woes. And I got a feeling it will not end here too. It kinda feels like calm before a storm. And if you're calling it 'calm' I'm afraid what storm will bring.
Quick Info Standalone/Cliffhanger?: Standalone Part of a Series?: Yes ---------------------------------- Meeting the Characters Shadow Alex Carpenter ---------------------------------- What happens? Alex is in hiding. She turns up at the book store many years ago and is taken in by the kind old owner. During the time she stays with her the owner passes on and leaves the store to Alex. Alex enjoys the visits from Shadow who stops in for a coffee and reads a book without buying a book but leaves $20 every time. During one such visit Alex challenges him leaving money and it starts the ball rolling a bit faster. When Shadow realises she is unprotected with a poor security system he arranges for her to become better protected and eventually has to protect her from the unknown assailant attacking his club and seemingly focusing on her. Final thoughts This was a good read. I liked the twists and thought they were interesting. Its not so much of a mystery of who is doing what but its nice watching the romance develop. Would I read again?: Yes Would I read this author again?: Yes
This one is the first time in reading this author with the storyline being the tempter here. Enforcers are the ones sometimes that are just as intriguing as the presidents. They have a ruff exterior but hidden a heart of gold. In this one the new enforcer Shadow got a ray of light he did not expect with that taking you into this world for their story. Alex though is more than meets the eye with the intriguing tidbits that will be hidden and uncovered as you read. It would seem that these two are two pieces that could fit together if the edges don't rub the wrong way. The drama in this is catchy but you will come out of this one full too.
OK, now this is the author I know and have to come to love, lol. Anyone who read my review on the first book in this series knows how disappointed I was but this one just reminded how great her books really are:)
Shadow, aka Mason and Alex aka Alejandra, sigh......I FLOVED these two individuals!!!!!!! I mean if two people were right for each other, they were it! Both of them had heartbreaking pasts but if I am being honest, Shadow's was absolutely heart wrenching, this poor broken man had such trauma and the way Alex brought him out of his darkness was so beautiful and heartfelt. Now Alex, OMFG, this girl, this absolutely beautiful warm soul of a woman was just a breath of fresh air for me and obviously for Shadow too, lol. She was such an "old" soul, a good loving and warm hearted woman who gave her heart and trust over to Shadow, she was AHMAZING!!!! I loved that I knew without a doubt she truly loved and cared for this man, inside and out. I loved the way she straight out told him how wrong he was about himself, she made him believe that he was a good man who deserved a good woman. Their love story was great!
Now, why not 5 Stars, well, as much as I loved the Epilogue I felt like it started off too quick and I mean it jumped ahead way too quick. I personally wanted to see the ring, proposal, etc..... I wanted to experience the joy for both of them but this just sort of picked up in the middle of their HEA if that makes sense. Yes, it was still great BUT I would have preferred to savor ALL of their happy ending from the proposal straight until kids....
Now with all that being said, I loved this story and these characters!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Shadow is the newest amazing MC romance by L. Wilder. It's yet another example of what I love about her books and why I keep grabbing them as soon as they are available.
This book featured Shadow and Alex. These are two characters that had such heartbreaking pasts that I feel like they deserved all the happiness in the world for their present and futures. Their chemistry was instant but also really subtle. I loved everything about it from where they met to how they finally began actually talking to each other.
Shadow being the enforcer of the MC already had me interested in hearing his story. I have a soft spot for the enforcers. But now that I have read this book, I'm pretty crazy about him.
Alex was a fantastic leading lady. I'm actually kind of crushing on her too. She is willing to change her whole life for things that matter to her. She wasn't frivolous or flighty. And she was able hold her own and take care of herself when need be.
This was a great addition to the Satan's Fury series and I can't wait for the next one.
I really liked the characters. Especially Alex though Shadow was no slouch. I liked them together and I believed in their feelings, there was just not enough time devoted to their romance and like the last book, the club drama took up too much page time.
Also, this book and Blaze had excessively descriptive violence (mainly against the club enemies). I don't recall the previous two series having so much of it but maybe I've forgotten, it's been a while.
The way MC books are coming I'm having trouble keeping up with them. Jeez... Who would have thought that I would have so many to choose from... L. Wilder is the bomb writing this genre and Dayum her writing is hot and wild, forbidden and intense with so much hotness into the mix... Shadow is her latest release and it's the second book from the Satan's Fury MC - Memphis Chapter series. This book explores the lifes of Shadow and Alex. But I totally advise you to read book 1. Heck. Read all books and fall in love with this family. Shadow is an enforcer for the Satan's Fury MC. Being an enforcer he's used to fight and endure anything that might harm his club. He and his brothers were fighting a war and winning was the only option therefor distractions weren't in the cards for him but... When you have a life of darkness it might be hard to find the light... Alex's life might look like a walk in the park but that's not it at all. She's on the run for 8 years and now she had find her happiness with her bookstore. When an handsome biker walks into her store she can't hide the things he does to her but is she ready to give herself away? Jesus... How can I talk about this book without spoiling or being repetitive? I can't... I can't... The plot is amazing, very well written, fast paced and engaging. Each chapter made me keep reading and reading until my eyes hurt but that didn't happen. Lol There were parts of the story that I wanted to get into it and hold them. They had suffered so much and they deserved to find happiness but life sometimes has other ideas... True love is forever and deserves you to fight for it. It was amazing to have news from the other characters from this series and I want more. What's next L. Wilder? Who's the lucky brother? I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
A thrilling story. Shadow is a guy with a damaged soul. He’s lost everyone he’d ever cared for and loved...the MC and his brothers have been his saving grace but loving again, giving his heart to someone new isn’t for him. That’s until he meets the beautiful bookstore keeper, she’s a woman he can’t stop thinking about. Alex has been in hiding for eight years. She finally believes she has found her safe place with her store and Alex loves it. The visits from a handsome, strong, silent biker are welcomed, daily and he has her intrigued, he’s constantly on her mind. She’s been alone for along time, but a biker isn’t the type she should encourage right? The coming together of these two lost souls was slow and sexy. The story had lots of excitement and secrets that could bring danger if revealed for everyone. I loved catching up with all the characters and the gripping storyline had me hooked. A terrific addition to the series and a definite must read, I highly recommend it!
When he was around her she brought peace to his tortured soul, and he brought safety to her. She helps him control his inner darkness and demons. He helps her hold back the nightmares that her father caused, slowly they come together and form a deep bond with each other. He would do anything to protect those that he loves and cares for, be it the MC or her, no one messes with them , if they do they find out just what he’ll do. She is keeping secrets from him and the MC, but they find out that the threat to their world is from her father. He takes care of him and protects her. This takes care of her nightmares and the doubt about each other. They find a deep and loving relashionship together and with the MC.
Shadow lives his life for his brothers in Satan's Fury MC after his service in the military. As their new enforcer he will do anything to protect his brothers. Alex is just a quiet bookshop owner who Shadow visits every few days. Alex gets the courage to talk to him and her life is forever changed. Shadow doesn't need the distraction of Alex with his MC at war with an unknown enemy. With secrets on both side finally come out will their new found love survive? Wilder is building a fabulous world with the Satan's Fury MC in Memphis. I can't wait to see what direction she goes in next.
When I read in an argument things like: "Her beauty and innocence captivated me" And you discover that she has had more than 1 lover... But she behaves the entire book as if she were an inexperienced virgin. Or the authors need a course on sexuality or simply tease their readers.

I loved Shadow and Alex!!!! Their chemistry was amazing! And what they both went through in their pasts......I think only these two could be the one to help the other. Alex is one tough heroine and I loved that as I read! She had vulnerability when she needed it but was also tough when needed! Shadow is all man and I loved him. I honk he’s my new favorite of L. Wilders characters!!!!
Shadow absolutely rocked! The Memphis chapter of Satan’s Fury MC has got more edge to it—in this installment, Shadow, the club’s enforcer, and his love interest, Alex, have certainly gone through hell in their past. They totally get each other and are just perfect together. Great writing, action-packed storyline, and great relationships between the brothers just keep me coming back for more. I love Leslie Wilder’s books!
Shadow has had a tormented childhood which has run over into adulthood. He witnessed something horrific as a child and just can’t shake it. Now all grown up he is the Enforcer for the Satan’s Fury MC. He believes that he still walks in the shadows but the Alex comes into his life and there is light.
Alex has her own set of problems that she is running from but these two just click. When all of Alex’s dark past comes to the light Shadow is right by her side. He doesn’t abandon her when that would be advisable. They are like two tortured souls healing each other. I highly recommend this book!!
Another great story in the Satan's Fury series. Shadow is an intriguing character with a heartbreaking backstory. He and Alex are a great couple. I highly recommend this book.
I think I fell for the dark brute than has so many secrets from his past that shadow him. I can't wait for more from the Satan's Fury MC- Memphis Chapter!!!
This was a fast pace read which I loved. Shadow is so broken and Alex had her own past. I loved them together and loved all the brothers. I can't wait to start the next one.
