Weaning: What to Feed, When to Feed and How to Feed your baby by Annabel Karmel is a great book on feeding a baby from 6 to 12 months of age. It is believed that baby's milk from 6 months on will not have all the nutrients they need, especially iron. Variety is key. The book has a range of different recipes and encourages baby-led feeding over spoon-led feeding. There are a range of weekly meals. By 8-9 months babies should be having three main meals a day with feeding on demand. As they get older, you will also need to have snacks throughout the day. Also by about 10months it's encouraged for babies to have two courses - e.g., a main course and dessert or a started and a main. The extra course offers your baby a new taste and texture and another opportunity to get those critical nutrients. I would highly recommend this book for first time mums with a newborn!

Glad I borrowed from the library rather than bought! This was the revised edition, and it still felt really outdated. Better evidence based advice on the NHS Start Right website!
