A Strange and Mystifying Story, Vol. 4

Rate this book

Thanks to his grandmother’s trickery, high school student Tsumugi has been betrothed to Master Kurayori, the family’s guardian deity. Although Kurayori is rather miffed over the deception, Tsumugi is serious about his relationship with the guardian deity and about saving his home. However, as the two spend more time together, nothing seems to change. What’s an inexperienced high school student betrothed to a very reluctant fox spirit to do?

Another volume dedicated to Tsumugi and his family guardian fox spirit Master Kurayori (still nameless after all this time). Tsumugi is in love, Master Kurayori is an old man. Not much moves the plot between the two of them. The pair meet Aki and Setsuko from the first two books, and a mystery pair that seem to know who or what they are. While I love Tsuta Suzuki's art and storytelling, there just wasn't much plot movement in this volume and only one stolen kiss. A few unrecognized "thump" moments, but that seems appropriate as this pair is very clueless.

Awwww, I really want more. These two are breaking my heart with how cute they are as they develop into a couple. I'm extra happy that #4 focused on the main plot and I'm looking forward to more.

I'm not sure how I feel about this new focus relationship. It's full of misunderstandings but has potential..
