Like the Title Says

If you've ever been confused about cryptocurrency, this aptly named introduction might help you figure it out. The book describes why the author believes it is important, and he also explains how the different parts of it work (wallets, keys, crypto mining, online exchanges, etc.). If you are interested in getting into crypto yourself, he explains several ways to do so, detailing in particular how to work with an online crypto exchange. He does caution in several places to be careful, not risking more than you can afford to. At times, I felt like the book needed better organization. But if you want to know a bit more about things like Bitcoin, Ethereum, and Litecoin, this book may be a good introduction.

I think that what the author says in the introduction section of the book sums it up nicely: "I have assumed a reader with no prior knowledge, but also one who is ready to roll up their sleeves and get into the inner workings of crypto - including the tricky bits."

I was interested in this book because my husband has been talking about cryptocurrency for a while and I was tired of everything he said going over my head; even his attempts to explain it to me made my eyes glaze over in confusion. But after reading this book, I feel like I have a general understanding of what it is and how it works. So I'd say that the purpose of this book has been achieved.

If you take a look at other reviews on Goodreads, you will notice they are all 4-5 stars and from 2019. Potential readers will learn plenty picking this up, but should not refrain from skipping large chunks of reading.

This book serves as an easy to understand introduction for those who know little of cryptocurrency. If my retired parents read this, it would work for them. If you are looking for a free introduction (I accessed this on Hoopla), this is worth a take.

This is an effective intro to cryptocurrency, but is nothing special in 2021. I would still mention this to those interested in the currency, but their are countless other resources to utilize today that are obviously more up to date.

This book offers excellent information in an easy-to-read style about cryptocurrencies. I cannot seem to get a handle on the smart handling of this but this book has helped me enormously.
