It was really fun and super adorable. Excellent for a short story and so well-written. And, if I may add, I'm very happy with who Mr X turned out to be.
Well, that was an adorable little short, especially for it to be *free*.
I loved how Jacob's firm tone to Mr. X, who had taken down every single one of his "Roommate Wanted" posters, slowly changed from one of "God, I really hate you" to "Well, maybe I don't hate you quite as much as I should."
The back and forth notes on the campus notice board were thoroughly entertaining. So much banter, and I'm a complete sucker for banter.
But Jacob is in an awkward spot when he ends up with 3 roommate candidates, then finds out that one of them is Mr. X.
So as the notes get increasingly flirty, with the potential for Jacob to get something more out of the deal than a roommate, I was on pins and needles that Jacob would pick the right guy. That he would pick the real Mr. X.
The ending didn't turn out exactly as I thought it would, but it did turn out close and pretty much how I'd 'hoped' it would, with the start of something definitely more than a roommate situation.
Then we get a nice epilogue from 3 months later, with both boys happily content in their new found relationship, which I loved. So the book ends with a firm HFN, with the promise of an actual HEA.
Once again, Anyta didn't disappoint, so I'd rate this one around 4.25 stars and recommend it to anyone looking for a fun, free read.
Notice me yet? Was so adorable and sweet it all starts with an ad for a roommate and an ad thief called Mr. X. Who could it be? Love the guessing game and the notes between the MC were so sweet. Short but enjoyable read. ❤
I loved it. I wanted more. I always want more with Anyta's stories. She has a gift, she really knows how to write this kind of characters. Lovely, sexy, young and funny guys.
This short tells how Jacob (healing after a breakup) and Mr. X (anonymous and playful admirer) start a friendship and a love story through notes shared in a noticeboard at university.
"In the end love is like faith, you might not undestand it fully, but if it´s to be true you have to believe in it"
This is a really sweet story, and at the same time funny and intriguing. The plot will make you smile and sigh and the writing is gorgeous as usual.
This is a highly recommended read and it's perfect to read between darker books, when you are looking for something sweet. "Notice me yet?" Will bring to you peace and happiness. Really, you will read it smiling all the way.
I really loved this freebie. It's short, it's sweet, it's well written.
I enjoyed the writing and the mysterious Mr. X. This was a nice surprise, the whole time wondering who Mr. X was. I really enjoyed their banter through pinned messages on the campus board. I think this was unique and it really made me love this story.
Jacob wants to find a new flatmate and has to choose between 3 very different men . Mr. Shy Guy, Mr. Philosophy and Mr. Hunk.
I can't say I am a fan of Scott, Jacob's ex and I didn't really want him in this story.
All I can say is that Mr. X ended being the one I loved the most and the ending was suuuper sweet.
I decided to give this novella a quick read after one of my GR friends told me this was her favourite work by Anyta Sunday, and I am very glad I did! ;) It was short, but sweet.
Noticed Me Yet? had quite an interesting mystery plot going on, where the MC, Jacob, tries to determine who he has been exchanging anonymous notes with. This was fun and engaging, although I do have to admit that it was fairly obvious early on who this person (Mr. X) was going to be. I don't think that was particularly bothersome, though, because the fact that Jacob was still completely in the dark was what made it fun. I honestly don't think Jacob ever voices who he thinks his mystery guy will be or even who he wants it to be, which I thought was an interesting choice by the author.
I thought the overall vibe of this novella was light-hearted and cute, but I do have to admit that I was missing a bit of an emotional connection. I never quite felt a real bond with Jacob, which was a bit of a shame. I did think he was fun to read about, but he could have had more personality and depth. His relationship with Mr. X was also once again fun, but not particularly profound. They just had some light banter with the possible potential for more. I don't think this novella ever really shows us the more part, but that's okay. There's not always a need for that. I guess this novella could actually be best described as a very prolonged'meet-cute', and afterwards... who knows how it will go?
In the end, I definitely think this novella was hurt by the fact it was so short and thus, didn't have the time to properly develop certain things, but I do still think it was a very fun read and 100% worth it considering the minimal amount of time it will cost you to read this.
You know, I've yet to read a book by Anyta Sunday that I didn't absolutely adore. This was no exception.
Told for the most part through notes pinned to a notice board, the story was unique and heartwarming. There was a cute bit of mystery too. Just who is Mr. X? I hoped that who he was was who I wanted him to be and I got my wish! I may or may not have done a happy dance in my living room when I found out who it was.
2.5 stars The idea of exchanging notes on a bulletin board was fun. In the age of social media, phone texting, and instant messaging, I liked that these young kids could still write long notes to one another. Unfortunately, on a whole, I’m afraid this story is a case of BIG MEH for me.
Why didn’t it work?
1) The whole ‘notes exchange’ dragged after awhile. And could people really write notes that LONG?? Some of these notes felt like letters. Didn’t Jacob and Mr. X write the notes on the spot? How long did they stand there at the public bulletin writing the notes without being seen? For a short story, I sure ended up skimming a lot of this part.
2) I appreciated that Ms. Sunday wanted the romance to be, well, different … presenting three different people with three characteristics as Mr. X candidates; but the revelation of Mr. X became underwhelming because I seriously didn’t feel ANY chemistry between Jacob and these candidates. In fact, I felt that there was more emotion between Jacob and his ex, Scott. Granted, I didn’t particularly want Jacob and Scott reunited, but there was more emotion there – especially when they were doing the interview for their assignment.
3) So yes, I didn’t believe that Jacob could fall quickly in love with his Mr. X.
I enjoy Ms. Sunday’s writing in general, but as a story, this one is forgettable and not a favorite. Doesn't mean that I will stop reading hers though. Will look to other stories recommended by friends, that's for sure.
This was a charming little novella and a super quick read featuring college boys.
Jacob puts up an advert on the college bulletin board seeking a new flatmate. The problem is that someone keeps taking down his ads. Jacob writes a note to the perpetrator, and a conversation (which takes place solely on this bulletin board via hand-written notes) develops between him and "Mr. X."
It turns out Mr. X keeps taking down the notes because he wants Jacob all to himself. Jacob interviews three potential flatmates, one of whom, he deduces, is the mysterious Mr. X. All the potential candidates are cute boys, obviously.
Nothing about this book was complicated, but it was sweet and cute, an easy, fun read; no steam and a HFN.
3.5 stars 💫 This story is super cute and adorable. I was just curious the whole time who would be Mr.X and turn out to be he was who I really liked from the start. 🤩💕
Oh my.....I just couldn’t put this shorty down. I felt like I was a voyeur, going through someone’s notes (old school here, no texts!). For the life of me I couldn’t figure out who Mr. X was. I thought I had, but I was positively wrong. This was fun and sweet and frustratingly mysterious. Definitely a fun read over a cup of tea and some sweet pie!
3.5* Enjoyable short story with a quirky little twist. Liked the idea of communicating on the notice board but I did have a little ponder at how they didn't see each other writing some of the longer messages... I think poetic license covers that. I liked it. I guessed the right guy at the end but it didn't matter because it was fun reading the messages they bounced between them ... I was just glad he didn't fall under his exe's spell! Very nice.
