OCD is a mental disorder that causes people to have compulsions to do things repeatedly, such as washing their hands or checking to make sure that the door is locked. While some who have never experienced OCD may think of is as annoying or simply paranoia, it is actually harmful and, in extreme cases, can lead to suicide.
At the core of many cases of OCD is intense anxiety. This anxiety may be connected to a past traumatic event, ongoing stress, or even a genetic predisposition. The anxiety tends to be persistent and ongoing, with the person suffering rarely getting a break.
One of the best treatments for anxiety disorders, including OCD, is mindfulness. Mindfulness is the practice of constantly being aware of your own inner world and your environment in such a way that you are able to accept what is going on without being judgmental. Practicing mindfulness can actually alleviate some of the symptoms of OCD, helping people suffering from it get their lives back.
This book will give you 10 different ways that you can practice mindfulness, with particular information as to how each of these different ways can benefit people with OCD.
This book is very easy to follow. It will guide you through practices such as deep breathing, meditation, journaling, being conscious of your surroundings, and slowing down a lifestyle that may actually be fueling anxiety. It includes self-reflective questions that will help you become more aware of your own anxiety, how it contributes to your OCD, and what practical steps you can take. Best of luck to you as you seek to become more mindful and start to overcome your OCD.

I received this audiobook in exchange for an honest review.
Mindfulness is written by Charlie Mason and narrated by T.A. Hodgson. I don't have an obsessive-compulsive disorder, but I've seen the effects it's had on relatives and friends. Although I merely expected to gain some knowledge into the minds of those with OCD when starting Mindfulness, I was pleased to hear about various ways that I can improve my concentration and focus.
This short 38 minute audiobook does exactly as its tagline suggests: it shares ten ways that people can use mindfulness in their daily lives. I've only dabbled in mindfulness. I try to avoid things that lead to mindlessness, like excessive phone use and sleeplessness. So, although I've worked to steer clear of distractions from mindfulness, I've never actively worked to promote it. Mason's work has inspired me to put mindful habits into practice. For instance, I'm eager to start journaling on a regular basis and perform deep breathing exercises for at least two minutes per day. Mason has dedicated chapters to each of these activities. Although a few of the tips seem like common knowledge, every guide can contribute to a healthier and happier life.
This is my first encounter with T.A. Hodgson, who narrates this work. He does a great job keeping the title interesting and light-hearted. He adds a level of emotional investment that's oftentimes missed by other narrators. He seems genuinely excited in his narration, which makes this work even more engaging. He's a good choice for narrating subject matter that could come across as heavy and intricate.
I highly recommend Mindfulness. Although this title is under an hour long, it contains useful information that can be immediately applied to your daily life. Mason will open your mind to interesting ways to cope with OCD and distractedness in general, and Hodgson will keep it entertaining throughout.
This audiobook is short but is so full of great info. I am not OCD but I still learned a lot of great things I can use in my everyday life. T.A. Hodgson is the narrator for this book and does a wonderful job. I would recommend this book to everyone. I was gifted this book with the understanding that I would leave an honest review.
I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.
This book had a lot of good information on Mindfulness. It was very well presented and narrated so that it was not dry. I felt that it was a very good short, pick me up, self improvement listen. I would recommend this title.
