Some people believe love transcends time and space.
Neuropsychologist Dr. Contessa “Tess” Kenner isn’t one of them. She can explain in detail how lust and desire cause the limbic system to battle the prefrontal cortex over ethical decision making, but ask her about her aversion to relationships and she’s completely at a loss. It’s not due to lack of trying. She’s just never felt the need or the connection to put in the effort.
Free spirited artist Elena Jake, on the other hand, wants to fall in love with the woman of her dreams—quite literally. Ever since her youth, her nights have been consumed by a beautiful stranger, so much so, that no flesh and blood woman has ever been able to measure up.
When the lines between fantasy and reality begin to blur, she seeks guidance from her Native American roots. Driven by strong astrological influences, the “powers that be” attempt an intervention between the two women. Their pasts and presents merge, sending Tess and Elena on an unimaginable journey, causing them both to question their sanities.
Will these two souls rediscover an epic love? Or are they destined to forever be star-crossed lovers?
This paranormal romance is a must read for every true romantic who believes true love knows no bounds.
S.W.'s latest, "A Call To Justice," is the third book in the Sarah Sawyer gunslinger series.
From old west gunslingers to a love that transcends time and space, S.W. Andersen offers a variety of romantic adventures, including the best selling lesbian romances, "Love By Design," and "Switchback."
Having been raised by her mother, a strong female character in her own right, she has always been attracted to stories that depicted independent, determined, capable women. A romantic at heart, her characters are rooted in hope and perseverance.
She has spent a large part of her life around horses and rodeos and has always had an affinity for the cowgirl lifestyle. Her love of the mountains, westerns and stories involving strong female characters were the driving forces behind the Sarah Sawyer series.
This was a nice story. I expect some people will enjoy this. However, this just wasn’t personally for me. It’s partly my own fault. I misread and misunderstood the premise and thought this was a time traveling romance (which I like to read). This is actually a story about if it is possible for soul mates to have a second chance at love in another lifetime.
One of my biggest issues is I don’t care for romances when there is physical distance between the mains for most of the book. I like my mains together so I can see the bond of a relationship forming. There was nothing wrong with the way it was done in this book, it’s just not my preference.
My other issue was the book jumps around especially in the first half and it was a little hard not to be confused. Anderson wrote dates, but I found I had to go back to previous chapters to make sure I had the timeline correct.
When it came to the actually storyline it was perfectly nice. I did want to know how the story would end. I did wish a little more of something happened. I don’t know if I needed some angst or what, but something was missing for me.
This was not for me, but it’s not a bad read. If you like soul mate, mystical romantic stories, this might be for you. This is currently free with Kindle Unlimited.
A touching paranormal romance about a love with no time boundaries, a love that spans decades. Also a story about weird vivid dreams, emotional disturbances, soulmates and so much more. I was completely drawn into this ingenious captivating tale and I highly recommend it.
A wonderful soul-mate, reincarnation story of true love. On Kindle Unlimited.
I loved SW Andersen's Sarah Sawyer Sapphic Western novels, and their evocative writing. So I wanted to try their other works, and was not disappointed. This was a beautiful tale, featuring some Native American mysticism. Elena is of Chinook heritage and has had dreams of a woman and a deep love, that leaves her reeling each morning. Tess feels disconnected from relationships, but an accident suddenly has her hearing the voice of someone she feels like she knows, and also having visions. Both women are seeing replays of a lesbian couple from 1954 in their mind's eye, and a feeling of utter love and loss, but also a sense of destiny playing out.
The women go through a lot trying to come to terms with what is happening, and finally uniting. It's magical and deeply warming and satisfying. A real romantic squishy read!
Artist Elena Jake has been having dreams about the same woman for years and no one in real life could ever live to her expectations. Convinced that she might be real and somewhere to be found, she asks her grandmother using her Native American roots to search for her. Dr. Tess Kenner is a neuropsychologist who helps patients with severe mental problems, some of them unexplainable. She believes in science and is wary of anything spiritual but when a chain of inexplicable events shows her the path to something that transcends her lifetime, she has the choice to ignore the strong force that calls for her or to believe the unbelievable.
This is a paranormal novel with the main premise that two soulmates from a previous lifetime can find each other in the next. I’m not a fan of the genre and I’m quite a disbeliever in afterlife so please read my review considering this.
The book is written on a timeline that starts in the 1950s but mainly focuses on 2017 and 2018. As the time goes back and forth a lot, I got lost a few times even though the author states the dates at the beginning of some chapters. Written in third person from the point of view of both Elena and Tess (with a few sections told from the pov of secondary characters), it is easy to get into the story and cheer for their reunion. Their encounter is very satisfying but short for my taste, as the mains are separated for most of the book. The main characters are well-rounded, very convincing in their struggle to understand what’s going on and to search for each other. The secondary characters support the plot perfectly, specially Elena’s grandmother and her best friend. All in all, the story is engaging, romantic and entertaining if you let yourself being taken to a fantasy world.
Overall, an entertaining read if you are a paranormal fan and if you don’t mind that the mains are separated most of the story. 3.5 stars.

This was a captivating story and an interesting concept. I haven’t the faintest idea if things like this actually happen but it’s intriguing to think about. Good read.
I loved this book. If you're a hopeless romantic, you'll love it too. The story shows the POV from both Elena and Tess, and the seemingly-odd yet ever magical and otherworldly coincidences between them, half a world's away. The urge and longing between the two characters is intense, and I started to find myself screaming at my Kindle that they needed to hurry up and find each other already, lol. Thankfully, I wasn't disappointed. I loved the little note at the end... I won't say any more to avoid spoilers, but this was a lovely book. Would certainly recommend.
This story left me intrigued the entire time I was reading, which means I stayed up way later then I should because I couldn’t stop reading it. The beauty and anticipation of Tess and Elena finally finding each other, as we read about each of their journeys, made for an exciting read full of scientific and spiritual beliefs about dreams, soulmates, the unexplainable and finding the connection to the one person that can fill your heart, enlighten your soul and make you feel whole.
A very different, unique and complex read with twists to intrigue the reader with every turn of the page. Fascinating concept that really left me intrigued and wondering how possible this is because I am sure it is! What a wonderful thing to believe in and gives hope, showing true love always finds it way!
I enjoyed reading about Tess and Elena as they both came to terms with the abilities they have to hear voices and experience things almost supernatural. It is amazing how they come together and their paths cross, more than once.
Their lives are also intertwined with characters Abbie and Mary which only adds to the wonder of this story when you begin piecing all the bits together and work out how they are all connected!
If you pick up this romance you won’t be disappointed! It will have you hooked and was very difficult to put down!
I love S.W. Andersen's work, but this one is a new favorite! I had a hard time putting it down. I loved the journeys of both Tess and Elena as they found their way to each other. I can hardly wait for S.W.Andersen's next book!
This Time is a paranormal romance that will saturate your soul with the deepest longing and just when you feel you will surely break from yearning, it will fill your heart with the profoundest and purest love. Infused with aspects of Native mysticism surrounding souls and dreamscapes, this book is an emotional exploration of the perpetuity of love that neither the constructs of time nor space can constrain. Tragic events intervene, and timelines intertwine as the fates of four women are bound by mystical forces they can’t comprehend. Can they decipher what is happening to them and will they embrace the bonds drawing them together, or are their spirits destined to wander in loneliness until the end of time? The language Andersen uses is simply beautiful and conveys so much emotion. The rawness and depths of yearning are so well described I had to stop and take a breath on a couple of occasions. This book will make you really feel. It will lock you into that emotional rollercoaster through beautiful language, touching characters and a truly heartwarming story. Anyone that wants to read about the strength of love, how it is truly a force that spans across eternity, should read this book.
Two women never finding love and always feel like something is missing. The dreams of Abby and Mary who were so much in love, had a been part of Elena since she was a child. These dreams became more frequent, after an accident. She was mumbling a word they didn't understand. She can see the women in her dreams so vividly. As an artist she has been painting pictures Abby.
Tess took a vacation with her girlfriend Amy. They were in another state driving along when Tess had Amy immediately stop the car alongside the shoulder. Tess overwhelmed with a panic and relieving her stomach of contents had a vision that she didn't understand. Tess has an accident and when she first awake from her coma she believes she is someone else not recognizing her brother. She returned to her comma dreaming of things she couldn't interpret. Following the accident she began hearing a voice similar to a patient she was treating.
It was very creative and captivating. It was well done. Both character ARCs of never finding love and feeling an overwhelming sense of emptiness. Having to look at facing their sanity or believing in something you cannot see. To see the final character piece fall into place you are going to have to read the.book ;) It held my attention. I couldn't put it down and had finished it in 3 hours!
Tess is an Atlanta-based neuropsychologist who's been unable to stay in any relationship for long. She's concluded that love is just not something that interests her. After breaking up with her latest gf, she's rushing to meet a client in the rain and is hit by a truck, which lands her in the hospital with serious injuries. While in a coma, she starts to see visions of a pair of young female lovers struck by tragedy. Meanwhile, in Portland, Elena, an artist, has been having dreams about a blue-eyed woman who she is drawn to as a soulmate.
Both women are seeing the same pair of teen lovers, who lived in the 1950s. Elena is also searching for the perfect woman of her dreams. Tess is unable to explain her own visions using her usual scientific explanations.
This novel of magical realism and spirituality is highly engaging. I read it in only a few sittings. The beginning is a bit slow and it jumps around in time until we are brought back to the present and the need each MC has to be connected to the other. I'd rate the book a 4.5, but since I was so into it, I'm rounding up to a 5.
This didn't hit any of my personal taste bells, so I did judge a bit harshly. This is a book about soulmates and mystical forces bringing two specific people together. I've just read a lot of these types of books lately, and all of them seem to rely too heavily on those mystical forces as well as Native American spiritualism. There are jumps in time and a reliance on keeping track of dates in order to understand whose story you're currently in and where they are, which isn't the easiest to do on a Kindle. The main characters are apart for nearly the entire book, so when they do finally meet you have to have a lot of belief in the soulmate setup to really buy their insta-love. I found the whole story overly hokey for my taste.
Five stars because it’s really well written and clearly well researched. Also, I will always give 5 starts for lesbian romances written by LGBT authors. However, it wasn’t what I was expecting. Minor spoiler— it takes them forever to find each other, and that really set me off. I thought they were going to meet in the first third of the book, then fight against it because of their current lives. But that it not what happens. Sometimes, it gets a bit repetitive the amount of times they almost find each other, and then all the metaphysical explanations for what’s happening go on for about 80% of the book. Anyway, great story for those who enjoy carefully built plots and slow-paced stories. Not recommended for those who seek an easy romantic piece.
Oh, what a sweet romance! A lovely story, in which the angst comes more about the past story than the one happening right now.
I love that Tess and Elena are so different when it comes to their ways to face life, and I'm very happy about the way in which Tess is guided slowly to accept what's going on in her life. She even had the advantage of a previous case of her own helping her to understand the magic that is touching her.
And I ador Elena's friends and family! I love how caring and loving they all are =D
Dreams, art, voices coming from who knows where, soul-mates and second chances... c'mon! you know you want to read it *laughs*
Wasn't sure I was going to enjoy this book, but man was a wrong.I couldn't put it down & read the whole book in one day. I love a book where you can emerse yourself & get so lost in it that I needed to keep reading to see what happens, page after page. I loved the characters & the story from the first page until the last page. So well written & makes you think about soul mates & how everyone has one out there. Some of the moments were so sweet & some brought afew tears to my eyes. This is a book I can see my self re-reading again. Thankyou
As a fan of all of S.W. Andersen’s books this is most definitely her best one yet. This Time is the story of two woman longing for their one true love. Add a terrible accident, a solar eclipse, and near misses, Tess and Elena finally meet, realizing they loved in another lifetime, they embark on a journey to continue their love story in this lifetime, and many more.
I loved this book. The very different journeys separated soul mates Tess and Elena go on to find each other is interesting. I don’t always enjoy “flashbacks” in books since they often break up the flow too much, but intertwining Abbie and Mary’s story pulled everything together.
I think what I really liked was the range of emotions from all four women. This is not a fluffy read. I was sad, happy, angry, and amused throughout.
Wow! A history of repeating encounters. How many more?
Stranger things have happened before in the minds of a author. I am sure. But who are we if don't stop to listen with not our ears but with our minds. Fate has a way of making things be or not when the couple, the right couple meet. This time with Elena and Tess. An artist and a doctor. How the journey starts and ends? Maybe it doesn't. Enjoy!
4th book of SW’S I’ve read (Sarah Sawyer x 2 and Love By Design) all very different I must say that this is my favourite by far. True love will always find a way even through death and time and space.A wonderfully written love story with quirky cast of characters loved it.Would have loved to have known what happened to George though
It's good to read a book that insinuates itself into my belief system. Miss Andersen's take on love throughout time and space was a breath of fresh air. Her characters had believable depth and the supporting characters positively added to the story. I won't give the story away but will say that love is love and knows no bounds. I will read her other works.
This was such a beautiful story that illustrates the belief in soul mates and the power of true love. Although the main characters of Tess and Elena are not physically together for the majority of the book, this was such a compelling read and it truly captured my attention.
Loved reading this book. Don’t we all want there to be more than this life. This book let’s you look into that mysterious side of life in a beautiful way. The characters are likeable, sweet and original story. If I could change something about the book, there would have been more interaction in the earlier stages of the book an maybe a little more getting to know each other in the later stages.
An incredible love story! Ms. Anderson's story had an incredible description of soul mates searching and finding each other. This story is one you should definitely check out!
This is a wonderful story, full of twists and turns A story about love and life and all the ways that we think we're directing our lives but really, is it all preordained? Very thought provoking. Loved it!!
I loved this story. The writer had me on the first page. The way writer told about the near misses until The characters finally got together was frustrating. Was happy that they did. Wonderful story.
Another great story by S.W.Anderson. This one a story of a love and reincarnation. The story was definitely well written and more. There was sorrow, accidents, death and more. Definitely recommend and would read again..
One of the very best! This is not a time period piece however the journey of souls across time is amazing! Well done and LOVE that the author wove in Native American believes into this heart warming story!
Women have loved women since the beginning, whenever that was. And lovers who reincarnate at the same time again and again is a wonderful concept, one I will gladly believe in.
Lately, I've had a run of poorly written speculative wlw fiction through KU. Not this one! It's a great story, blending past lives, and the destiny of finding their true loves in the current one. I really enjoyed it.
