Julia and Anthony are friends and colleagues working as Detectives in the Serious Crimes Unit in London’s Met Police.
Both are struggling to balance a chaotic home life with the brutal demands of round the clock detective work in the waning years of their careers. Then a vicious and manipulative serial killer dubbed Jack Hall sets a deadly treasure hunt in the busy streets, seeming to know every detail of the investigation to stop him.
The pursuit of the ruthless killer will test their resolve and their friendship, and will force them to question who they can really trust.
The story-line follows the efforts of two detectives, Julia and Anthony, as they tirelessly work to track down a serial killer, dubbed Jack Hall. Each murder seems to carry clues to the next victim, but there never seems to be enough to enable them to save that life. As they face the prospect of failing yet more victims, the strains begin to show. Who can they trust when the killer seems to have access to so much of their activity and what their next move might be. Could one of their own be involved in some way? These characters are very human, with strengths and weaknesses just like the rest of us. The narrative itself draws the reader into the plot, each new clue suggests the net closing, but the ending is totally unexpected. This is a great read. Once hooked I couldn't put it down.
