You would think that every woman wants a man that works hard, pays the bills, and still manages to be a good father and take care of her needs. Right? Shonte’ had all of that, but it still wasn’t good enough for her. Being rejected by Darrell after previously doing him dirty, Shonte’s scandalous, ratchet side rears its ugly head and she uses the one thing he loves for than life as a bargaining chip; his daughter Blessing, leaving a whole in his heart. Filling that hole with frustration and hate pushes Darrell to the brink of insanity, leaving him no choice but to take drastic measures to ensure he and his Blessing can be together.

This book was really good. It played out like a real life story. First off the family was good until the father goes to jail then the baby mamma feels the grass is greener on the other side which is not. Once baby daddy gets out she wants him back all he wants is his daughter. Then the baby mamma wanna be very spiteful because she can’t have her happy family back but in the meantime she has a boyfriend. Then all the trails and tribulations start and she leaves the father to do the unthinkable and that’s where nobody wins. All I can say is the kids are innocent and parents should think about them first. God bless the child always. Great book.
Quick read! Darrell & Shonte's relationship started off so nicely, it was surprising when the tables turned. It didnt take long for Shonte's true self to appear. She was mean as well as mentally ill... Each page made me angrier as I read about Shonte' & her trifling mother Vivian. Darrell attempts were heartfelt for he truly loved Blessing & tried to do right by her. While ending was unexpected, it was also sad. Looking forward to see what happens in part 2
The misogyny is present, I'm good on this one. People giving 5 stars to a book where the father kills his kid and then himself. In today's climate this book did not age well. Fucking horrible
MAYNE I HATE LIL GIRLS LIKE SHONTE IS A BLESSING IN ITSELF FOR A GUY TO BE HANDS ON WITH THEIR KIDS... IF YOUR KIDS DAD OR MOM DON'T WON'T YOU MOVE ON BUT ALWAYS BE THERE FOR YOUR KIDS NO MATTER WHAT... I WISH WOULD COULD OF FOUND OUT HOW SHONTE FELT AFTER SEEING THAT LIVE VIDEO.....
This book was a glaring reminder of the failure of the American judicial system, as it pertains to children in unsafe homes. Darrell found himself tangled up with a woman who he thought was "the 1." Boy, was he misled and had to find out the hard way when he was sent to jail. When he was released and his daughter's mother, Shonte, learned that he wasn't feeling her "like that" anymore, she set out to make his life a living hell, with the help of her bitter and spiteful mother.
The ending hurt me down to my soul because, after repeated trips to court for updated custody arrangements and even with proof of negligence on Shonte's part and Darrell's fitness as a parent, she was STILL able to retain custody of the little girl, who was basically a pawn in her twisted emotional game.
I absolutely love that this book could be an eye opener and really make you think about todays society and see it from the fathers point of view rather than the women which we see often. This book deserves more stars I love how it’s so realistic I believe shameek doesn’t get all the credit he deserves he out does any other author just about. I wish it had a better ending but everything can’t always be sugar and rainbows. I wanna know what happened after the judge shante and Vivian find out what happened and see if they had any remorse. Never a dull book moment with this author
My heart bleeds for Darrell. Good man, good father, faithful, not running the streets chasing tail and Shontae goes and puts him through the fire!!! It's less than thots like her that make it hard for good women to find good men. Granted doing a bid with a man can be hard, it's not impossible. I hope he was daydreaming about shooting Blessing and himself. True the last judge was a monster but i'm sure he could have pushed for a different judge. This was an excellent read and true to the nature of today's youth as they are notorious for living on social media.
Custody can be hell, but in this case its muder. Donte' wanted to be agreat father and wonderful husband. of course he was with the wrong woman. one who was out for what she could get and if things didn't go as planned it was a problem, but he should have known by her mother that he had the wrong girl on his arm. Women don't understand when u use the kids a pon in a relationship no one is hurt but the kids. All he asked her was to hold him down for 12 months and when he get out its back as usual. She couldn't even do that for a man that gave her anything she wanted and needed. But she had to learn the hard way!!! or so you would think Cant wait to read book 2!
I really enjoyed this short read. Crazy what some women will do and put a man through because the relationship is over. There's to many good father's out here that put's up with these crazy situations. But let it be a father that don't do ish get to live on easy street. Women's need to wake up a allow a father to be a father if that is what he is. That ending though Shameek, damn.
My heart went out to Darrell and Blessings. Sad but true there are a lot of mothers like Shonte who spitefully keep the children away from the fathers who wants nothing to do with the mother but only to be there for their children. However, I wished Darrell bad another way to handle the situation, unfortunately his back was up against the wall and the courts weren’t helping him, he tried to run and that didn’t work I guess he felt he had no other options.
This book played out like many real life scenarios. Shonte and Darrell seemed to have the perfect relationship until he went to jail. After he was in jail for a few months, she decided that he wasn’t what she wanted. But, when he got out and didn’t want her, she was upset and took it out on the child. Instead of her embracing the fact that he loved their daughter, she made his life miserable. Poor excuse for a mother.
This was a very good story n I'm glad it was told bc there are some good men out there that want to raise their child like they sipypse to..n thn have a scandalous ass babby mama like tht bitch shonte...I wished she didn't push Darrell to tht level..n y did u kill the baby..but I understood..to a point...wish it were a different ending tho...still I enjoyed the stortlime
This was a good book sad ending but good story line. He was a good man and a good father BUT the child being hurt was to much for me. I know he was pushed but he should’ve just found a different solution which was that pest of a baby mama. These type of games women play always end badly for them and a lot of times the kids as well
Wow! This book was so good! I mean it just put me in a postion to understand a Father . We women sometimes dont get it. This book really makes me think different. It was so sad and the ending brought me to tears. He really felt that was the right thing to do.
This author continue to amaze me with his stories.
I don't know where to begin. This was truly a heart wrenching read. All Darrell wanted to do was be a good father but his bitter baby mother wouldn't let that happen. He loved his little Blessing and that should have been enough. Tae will have to live with what she caused for the rest of her life. Was it really worth it?
It is sad that stuff like this really happens, that parents both mothers and fathers will use their child as a pawn to get at each other. This was a great story of a great father who was pushed and pushed and all he wanted was his daughter... I loathe BITCH BABY MAMAS... RID THE EARTH OF THEM... Did you have to have him shoot the baby though..
I guess when a man is fed up, what he does after is usually provocative. I was so shocked with the ending. He just couldn't stand to let his baby girl go. Shonte was do trifling and s andaliyd as well as Judge Conners. Very good.
Wow this book has me so on edge..I kinda felt D pain , he tried , an she dint want it...it makes me mad at THESES kinda females!..when all he wanted to do was luv his baby!...What a Great Book! One click..TODAY.
Loved the entire story line! Great read, awesome author. 😊 This author never disappoints. Loved the entire story line! Great read, awesome author. 😊 This author never disappoints.
Shonte was a baby mama from hell. Darrel loved his little girl; Blessings unconditionally. Shonte tried to make his life a living hell, by using Blessings as a bargaining chip. This book is an eye opener of the custody system in our society.
I usually don't read urban stories but I wanted to try this because of the title. This story was a trip. I am sure plenty of couples deal with this. Shonte is a trip. The story was a page turner but it had several typos.
This book was definitely different. I've always wanted to read a book by this author but always changed my mind. I'm glad I followed through this time. This book was truly a pleasure. Although the mother is such a witch this book was great.
Just wow....is all I can say. I wasn't expecting such a tragic ending as this. I was really rooting for Darrell and Blessing! Great read, I read the complete book in one sitting.
It was a very good story. I only give three stars because after reading this booke it made me feel so sad the way it ended. Such a genuine father is hard to find. I appreciate reading his story. And, unfortunately not all women are worthy of being mothers.
Lord that baby mama was a hot mess. That wasn’t a real judge that gave the child back to her mom. I really felt bad for Darrel bc she tried. I just hate how he went out and I truly understood why…
