Imagine yourself two hundred years ago coming to the top of the highest of surrounding hills and standing as tall as the tallest pines that grow down its side to a great jagged edged plain of blue water broken only by early morning rises of hunting fish and rafts of ducks lifting into flight and gulls that float out of the sky onto the plain and blend into its splintered patches of reflected sunlight. Nothing else scars the plain but the wind.
