This is a handy, easy to read informative book for those wishing to manage their mild to moderate anxiety without relying on pharmaceuticals.. The layout is very user friendly and the descriptions are educational and easy to understand. Dr. Gustavo Kinrys describes the various reasons for heightened anxiety levels then offers expert advise on how to manage it. The nutrient-based remedies are on-the-money. The practical tips and techniques for relaxation are easy to understand. The mention of cognitive behavioral therapy was much appreciated since I have found it helps so many identify their triggers and subsequently modulate their emotional reactions to them. Five stars!

This book by Dr. Gustavo Kinrys works to help those who suffer from extreme anxiety and stress and teach how one can better manage it through natural means. Dr. Kinrys explains more behind common problems and symptoms of anxiety and stress and how you can defeat them. He provides helpful guidance and ideas as to how you can improve your mental and physical health by eating certain food, trying supplements, and meditating. The book is organized in a format to help you gradually work toward overcoming these common problems.
If you suffer from anxiety or find yourself becoming extremely stressed, this is an excellent book to read. Dr. Kinrys not only writes with a great style, but helps explain common problems and symptoms in an easy way to understand while also providing solutions. While it might be a little long of a read for some (240 pages) it’s well worth it.

In today’s world, many more people are suffering from stress and anxiety than never before. Most are unsure of the natural and pharmaceutical remedies that are readily accessible during the times of being stressed out, beyond what an individual can handle on their own. Life has so much to offer and to feel such imprisonment within your own body doesn’t equate to living. How can one constantly go through life this way, especially without seeking help from a loving ally? We must know that we are not alone at all times, there’s always someone or something available to assist us in our low moments of stress, anxiety, and fear.

In “Conquering Your Stress and Fears: A Treatment Guide for Anxiety and Trauma-Related Disorders,” author Gustavo Kinyrs, M.D. breaks down the medically scientific reasons behind why our body gives us uncomfortable signals when we’re experiencing stress or anxiety. We learn that our brain is the powerhouse at producing certain hormones and releasing them throughout our body to create some sort of defense mechanism. Certain hormones such as serotonin, dopamine, norepinephrine, are classified as neurotransmitters that communicate with the brain to spread throughout the body and develop a reaction based on the individual’s current circumstance. Not only did he explain, in-depth, just what are the possible culprits on why people have trouble sleeping, or terrible fears of certain things, or the increasing level of anxiety, he also provides options on how to care for these symptoms by getting to the root of the problems. Common and popular medications were listed to ensure that his readers would get an idea to what they are and their purpose for why people take them. The natural list of things that are considered ‘nature’s medicine’ are also provided and encouraged to give those a try because of the health benefits and overall better for you. Of course, he informs his readers that they should always speak with their physician to be sure it would work for them as everyone’s different. Aside from medicinal options, there were also lifestyle changes available to consider as well, including more exercises, meditation, keeping a peaceful way of thinking, and overall trying to have a positive outlook on life.

I enjoyed reading about the ways many people are going through life and this book has encouraged me to continue working towards an even happier life. My favorite parts were discovering that there are so much more natural things we can do to get ourselves back on track, without spending so much money or reaping side effects from medications. A well-written guide that would lead you to be happy and healthy. I highly recommend this book to everyone so that we all have a chance to be better than the current versions of ourselves we are today.

‘Virtual Reality has moved beyond the gaming or immersive 3D theater experience’

Massachusetts author Gustavo Kinrys, M.D. earned his training at Mayo Clinic and the Massachusetts General Hospital and on the faculty of Harvard Medical School where he shares his interest in treatment-resistant depression, bipolar and anxiety disorders, development of novel pharmacologic agents and diagnostic tools for mood and anxiety disorders, cross-cultural and minority issues in clinical trials, and applications of natural remedies and new technologies alone and combined with conventional pharmacologic therapies for treatment-refractory patients. He has authored many articles in his field and has published two books – CONQUERING YOUR STRESS AND FEARS and NATURAL RELIEF FOR ANXIETY AND STRESS.

In this accessible volume Dr Kinrys opens with his typical honest and straight forward approach to a subject that affects us all – ‘This book is a practical guide that focuses on managing complex psychological conditions such as fear, stress and anxiety for which conventional prescription medications may have failed to help or is undesirable since they cannot be utilized by everyone. In addition prescriptions medications have a wide range of unpleasant side effect, and on occasion carry the risk of being addictive. You will find a practical, easy to follow approach in these pages to mitigate psychological conditions using nutrition-based remedies, herbal-based remedies, and non-pharmacological treatments. Proper and consistent information is provided on the effective use of nutrition and herbal-based remedies to facilitate a quick and complete recovery form anxiety, stress and fear. Detailed sections are included on the most effective remedies; their origin, benefits, dosage, and in some cases, side effects. In the case of non-pharmacological treatments, adequate information is provided on prominent complementary therapies and productive lifestyle changes such as Meditation, Cognitive Behavior Therapy, Virtual Reality treatment, Mindfulness, Exercise and other physical activities. All this information is compiled in this book and presented in a self-help approach to make the information easy to access and adequately utilized.’

Suggestive of the fine professor Dr. Kinrys is this Preface beautifully describes what the reader will find. His sections are Anxiety/Stress/Fear (very well defined as to etiology, signs, symptoms, causes), Nutrient based remedies, Herbal based remedies, Non-pharmacological treatments – each introducing concepts not available in other resources and explained in a very practical manner.

This will soon be the go-to book on treating and healing stress and fear. Highly recommended.

The book “Conquering your Stress and Fears: A Treatment Guide for Anxiety and Trauma-Related Disorders” by Gustavo Kinrys M.D. is an outstanding read!

This book talks about conquering anxiety, fear, and stress. The first chapter talks about how to conquer anxiety. If it is a medical issue it is called an anxiety disorder. The chapter discusses how to differentiate between normal anxiety and anxiety disorder. The next part of the chapter talks about the signs and symptoms of anxiety. The chapter then goes on to list certain statistics and research studies involving anxiety.

The next section deals with stress. It states that stress is much more than mere fatigue. Stress is the body’s way to react to the demands we face. Normal stress could be a source of motivation; however, chronic stress, if left untreated, may lead to insomnia, depression, constipation, heart disease, and a myriad of other problems. The chapter discusses how to best control stress by identifying the underlying causes of the stress, perhaps through therapy, or some other support system. According to the American Psychological Association, chronic stress hampers a person’s ability to recover from heart attacks.

The following section lists factors that affect your stress level. I found this part very interesting, as it covered in detail the factors affecting stress levels.

The final section of the book covers fear. According to the author, “Fear is a response in the brain that begins with a stressful stimulus and ends with the arrival of chemicals that cause a racing heart, fast breathing, and invigorated muscles, in addition to other things.” The author explains that the fear someone feels may be based on a past experience that’s casting light on a stimulus that’s occurring in the present, or it might be based on a suspicion of a future danger that is perceived to be dangerous to the body or life itself. The next part deals with the signs and symptoms of fear, as well as the causes that surround it.

Chapter two discusses how to alleviate stress, fear, and anxiety through the use of nutrient-based remedies, such as Inositol and Lysine. Chapter 3 discusses the use of relief through herbal-based remedies, such as Chamomile and L-Theanine (Green Tea). Chapter 4 discusses non-pharmacological treatments such as cognitive behavioral therapy and exercise.

All in all, this is an amazing guide full of useful information for people to use alternative methods for alleviating stress, fear, and anxiety. The book is backed by solid medical and clinical evidence and studies.

Good introductory guide

I am always looking for books to give my clients insight into their issues and find ways to support their traditional treatment. This book is an ideal introduction to understanding both the science and neurology of anxiety and fear, as well as suggestions for alternative therapies to support self-care and healing.
The first part of the book is a clear easily understood explanation off the neurological and social causes of anxiety. The author uses accessible language to explain complicated topics. I like the distinctions he makes between fear and the different types of anxiety.
He has brought together alternative treatments from various traditions. The charts at the end of each chapter provide a quick reference guide. He makes it clear that these supplements/herbs should be used under medical advisement if you are receiving traditional Western medicine treatment, especially if you have an underlying medical issue. I would have liked to have seen more warning about side effects or risks particularly for people who are sensitive, for instance, some of the herbal remedies can stimulate depression in people with a history of that issue. Herbal remedies are not benign and can have adverse interactions with allopathic medicine.
I was glad to see the inclusion of mindfulness, meditation and other lifestyle changes and techniques that can help recovery. Especially if you have complicated health concerns which means coming off medication is not an option. However, although undoubtedly beneficial they do take practice and often years to master. In my experience, they do not provide the quick fix we expect in the West. I would have liked to see more care given to this aspect of the process, as expectation of quick results can reinforce a sense of failure and hopelessness, which can exacerbate anxiety.
All in all, this is a great introduction to anxiety, and alternative treatments for newcomers. If you have experience with these modalities, this probably isn’t the book for you. Having said that, it is a good handy reference guide and I’ll happily suggest it to clients and clients and friends in the future.

Are you fearful, stressed out and/or anxious?

If so, then read the book entitled, "Conquering your Stress and Fears: A Treatment Guide for Anxiety and Trauma-Related Disorders " by Gustavo Kinrys, M.D. for some great advice!

This informative book will give you some useful information on how to better manage your fears, stress and anxiety naturally with good nutrition, carefully selected herbs, meditation and exercise.

You can create the right treatment plan that will work best for you!

In reading this book, you will learn that productive stress is okay, but too much stress that is unmanaged might lead to "chronic stress". "Frequent and intense anxiety" which may include excessive worry and fear is anxiety disorder where treatment may be needed.

Learn how to better manage your stress. This book recommends: "Nutrient-based Remedies" like Magnesium; Inositol; Lysine; "Herbal-based Remedies" like Chamomile Tea, Green Tea; Lavender, etc. Note: Dr. Kinrys provides you with information on how to choose dietary supplements and herbs based on your current medical conditions and medications that you might be on. This is not to replace a consultation with your current physician.

Do you agree that exercise helps strengthen your mind-body connection? How about choosing a fun activity like running or jogging, hiking, yoga, dancing or Tai Chi? Learn how to change your negative thoughts into positive thoughts with Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and relaxation techniques like meditation. Do you know that there are different kinds of meditation like "Loving and Kindness" meditation which helps you to develop "love and compassion" and "Mindfulness" meditation which focuses on "observation without criticism and showing compassion to yourself?"
Do you like Virtual Reality games? You can use a similar technique to treat your phobias or anxiety and stress or even post traumatic stress disorder.

Real solid medical advice from an actual medical doctor

As a person who has suffered from varying degrees of depression and anxiety throughout my lifetime I was skeptical when I started reading this book. There is so much information out there on what to do that it seemed to me it would be impossible to read anything new.
I was very wrong.

The first part of the book is a description of natural supplements and vitamins one could take to alleviate symptoms, why they work and why they might be contraindicated. The physician who wrote this book in no way demonized needing traditional medication. He stated clearly that sometimes medication is necessary. He simply offered other options to try . I was able to have an informed discussion with both my physician and my son's counselor about things we could try.

The second half of the book discussed different traditional and non traditional therapies available to treat anxiety and depression. I appreciated his through description of each type of treatment. I tend towards skepticism and I found myself wanting to try much of what he listed. For example I was unaware that there are several types of meditation. Some are internally focused some are externally focused. I had only heard of the type that focuses inward.

The thing I loved about this book is it is written by an informed medical doctor, not some random person that likes meditation and herbs. I discovered three new things to discuss with my doctor that I wouldnt have known about otherwise. If you're a person who struggles with or live with a person wh struggles with mild anxiety and depression I suggest you give this book a read.

I LOVE this book!!

I love this book! As someone who has struggled with anxiety and depression my entire life,I have read a multitude of books on the topic in search of a better understanding of the causes and treatments for such conditions.  Most of the books out there either get bogged down in the clinical explanation of mental health disorders, delving too deeply into the medical aspects and focusing on pharmacological solutions or they skim over various alternatives to medication with little explanation of their benefit.
Conquering your Stress and Fears has struck a wonderfully harmonious balance.  It is clearly written for those already versed in the world of anxiety and depression, choosing to provide brief explanations of each condition and a list of possible symptoms, instead of long medical dictionary definitions.  Then Dr Gustavo delves right into the heart of the matter. Offering well researched alternative methods of coping with Stress and Fears in a methodical easy to follow manner. Separated by chapter into category, he covers beneficial nutrients, herbs, and behavior modifications. He provides a convenient chart at the end of each chapter listing each of the suggestions, some recommended usage and the mechanism of how it works. This list is so beneficial.  Instead of trying to remember what he mentioned or having to go back and reference the information in the chapter, you can just pull the list up. I will absolutely be referencing this list while shopping for supplements and to vary my meditation/mindfulness routine. I give Conquering Your Stress and Fears 5 stars.

Great information!

If you are someone who is into a more holistic approach to curing your ailments, this book is full of very useful information.  Each remedy has its own section in which the author describes the alternative medicine/treatment, its benefits and the results of any studies that have been done. As for the herbal remedies he talks about proper dosage, where it’s from and how to get it. He also explains the side effects, if there are any. Most of the treatments have more benefits than just helping with stress and anxiety and have an extensive variety of health advantages.

This book is definitely written like a text book, so it’s not one of those that you just can’t put down. It’s also not one of the most well-written books I’ve ever read either. A couple times I noticed an unfamiliar word or remedy that wouldn't be explained until pages later and then it would be unnecessarily defined or explained several more times.  However, I did and will continue to take advantage of the tables presented at the end of the chapters, which summarize the treatments and remedies, very convenient!

I would recommend this book to anyone who has an open mind about non-pharmacological and non-pharmaceutical treatments, whether they have anxiety or trauma-related disorders, or not. Even if the reader didn’t find anything that could benefit them themselves, I would just about guarantee they know someone who could. Before I even finished the book, I had already told several family members and friends about it, and I’m sure I will continue to share it with others.

Great read!

The book “Conquering your Stress and Fears: A Treatment Guide for Anxiety and Trauma-Related Disorders “ written by Gustavo Kinrys, M.D. is a great and informative book to read. This book listed many ailments, illness’s, fears, and stresses but along with these the book listed different ways to cure or conquer them or ways to treat them. I found that the ways to treat the ailments listed with in the pages of this book were not extremely complex or expensive a lot of the ways to treat the ailments listed were various types of vitamins and lifestyle changes. One of the most amazing things I found in the book was that when the author listed the “ cures” he also listed what other ailments a person may or may not have and when not to use said “ cure”. I personally have several autoimmune system disorders so it was very helpful to see what could help or hurt said disorder, I would and have already recommended this book to several friends who struggle with depression because the author lists ways to help “ conquer” such a struggle! I know in this world we are surrounded with such negativity in Society, and in our everyday lives that any way to positively impact our lives is a great thing. This book helps to show and explain different ways and possibilities to bring positivity to things that may have or are already making a negative impact on our lives. Once again this was a great informative read and I highly recommend anyone to read it especially some one who may struggle with depression, anxiety, or physical ailments.

Conquering Your Stress and Fears by Dr. Gustavo Kinry guides you through the signs, symptoms and various options for tackling anxiety, stress and even fear, the all-encompassing feelings that permeate every aspect of your life where you begin to wonder how you can live your life.
Dr. Kinry that all people have feelings of stress, fear and anxiety at times in there lives and that how we deal with those feelings is where problems and professional help is needed. He also states that feeling those things is natural to a point and does not necessarily mean that you have a disorder and that a disorder is a separate thing altogether. He takes the time and effort to break down a list of herbal supplements, vitamin supplements and non-pharmacological treatments that can help to gain understanding and coping with the feelings that overwhelm you. I found the book informative and helpful and I am already recommending it to several people who actively suffer from anxiety disorders. The section on meditation was very informative and helpful to understand it is nothing like the movies and it is more than that and when done properly can improve your quality of life whether you suffer from anxiety, stress, and fear or not. I think everyone should take the time to read this two hundred and thirty-eight-page book because it does more than just give you information on anxiety and fears it can change your quality of life.

Thank you to NetGalley, Boston Press Group and Gustavo Kinrys M.D. for an ARC ebook copy to review. As always, an honest review from me.

Like
- Comprehensive overview of the topics discussed with more details for each
- Easy to read and access the information: broken down into small segments with the chapters and a summary chart at the end of each chapter as well
- Herbal remedies to help reduce anxiety - common, generally safe herbs to try such as chamomile, lemon balm, valerian, lavender
- Easy to go back and review information at a later date
- Meditation and mindfulness: different types of each are introduced and discussed

Love: —

Dislike:
- Chamomile is suggested to help with IBS — Not really true. Only if it’s in an oil form, because chamomile tea is high FODMAP which is know to trigger symptoms in many people with IBS

Wish that:
- The information is more well rounded, not mainly focused on more medical based options for anxiety
- More focus on therapy and behavioral techniques to first treat anxiety
- Some of the wording was changed, as it read strangely.

Overall, the book is a good comprehensive overview of many topics. It’s great for learning but you will probably need more information and research before implementing some of the techniques. If you’re looking for more food and herbal remedy based solutions for stress and anxiety, the book will be helpful.

I can't overstate how pleased and surprised I was when I read "Conquering Your Stress & Fears.” I have suffered from anxiety, and stress for decades, but I do not want to take anti depressants, for a number of reasons. Dr. Kinrys’ book is FULL of options to help treat people's ongoing psychological struggles that may not want to seek out medicinal help.

The voice that this book is written in is approachable, light, and supportive. Many self help books are informative, but can come off as too textbook-like or overly warm and fuzzy. For me, it feels patronizing. This is not the case with this book and this author. It felt like a friend giving practical, proactive guidance. I didn't feel like I was being preached to at all.

Aside from listing and detailing specific ailments and their symptoms, the variety of non-medicinal coping mechanisms was impressive, to say the least. I was particularly interested in the use of virtual reality to help overcome certain phobias. I've tried immersive therapy before, and though it's worked with certain things (crippling fear of needles), it hasn't done anything for my height related fears. i can't even get on a step ladder without crippling vertigo. I'd never considered virtual reality as a possible tool in overcoming this.

I'll be recommending this book to several friends of mine, and honestly can't say enough good things about it.

Conquering your Stress and Fears: A Treatment Guide for Anxiety and Trauma-Related Disorders written by Gustavo Kinrys MD is a rather concise yet thorough peek into the self-help sun-genres of dealing with anxiety and overcoming trauma. The chapters are laid out linearly with a simple 'problem and optional remedies' formula. What really made me happy was that those remedies suggested were nutrient-based, herbal-based, and non-pharmacological. Notice no Big Pharma plugged chapters on the easy peasy $84 per pill wonder drug that will surely have the formerly house-bound patient diving into a placid lake full of friends and family three minutes after popping one. I think that is something to be noted, especially from a medical doctor because they are so pressured by pharmaceutical companies.

Overall, I found Conquering Your Stress and Fears a surprisingly all around approach to handling some intense issues in this modern world. Dr. Kinrys provided a no-nonsense, simple guide to assist those suffering.

My favorite part is the dedication: This book is dedicated to my family and my patients and their families from whom I learn so much everyday, and without whom this book would not have been possible.

Stress Reducing Read

I highly recommend this book for anyone looking for stress and anxiety reduction techniques. This book has an excellent flow and it’s clear that it was written with the target audience in mind. The book flows logically through explanations of what stress, fear, and anxiety are and provides good techniques for identifying and managing your stress.

I’d have to say my favorite sections were the herbal and natural supplements treatment options. I’m a huge user of essential oils and homeopathic techniques myself and I appreciate that this book has parts dedicated to the more natural ways to help with anxiety and stress. Not many people realize that drugs are not the only way to help deal with larger mental issues.

I think this book is perfect for anyone looking for a concise and clear read about issues that plague many of us. This book is no muss, no fuss and gets right to the point of how to help individuals. I will definitely be keeping this one around for further reference.

Anxiety, depression, stress, we can’t really know the limit on how much it can affect our lives, and yet there are always guidance to counter them, this one takes the spotlight for me.
The information detailed here is very easy to handle, very insightful and very practical, just to give you a few minutes each day can make a huge difference. There are several methods described here for you to get familiar and added to your routine.
As someone who’s been struggling with anxiety, I can tell you this book is just what you need, it’s efficient and practical, it won’t take you too long to read the whole book and yet the time invested will gradually become in your tools to improve your daily days. Despite me being someone who is always complaining that nowadays there are too many books as guides and self-help, I have to give the author credit and nothing but praise for this one, a true accomplishment.

I have always been on the verge of anxiety, as long as I can remember, even as a little kid. That has not changed into adulthood, but I mostly managed to keep it in somehow. Lately, I had really rough couple of weeks, both personally and at work, and I felt I just need something, some pointers, something to show me the way. This book seemed good at first glance so I skimmed it, and after that read it all the way through. It is really well written, obviously the author knows his stuff. It is mostly practical advice for tackling feelings of anxiety, like meditation, some forms of therapy and so on. Nothing to complicated, easy to read and to understand, all is left is to actually use the advice from this book. This certainly isn’t something that can be used instead of therapy or meds, if you have really serious problems. Please seek help in that case. But, it can be a nudge in the right direction and a valuable place to get some good advice and a few techniques.

Everyone suffers from stress and anxiety to some extent. For those who have been through serious traumas, like myself, or suffer from a disorder – the anxiety that remains can be almost debilitating. From being afraid of certain sounds, to having triggers related to smells, and feeling unsafe even in your home – the struggle is real.

While this book may not be for everyone, it provides a compendium of different potential aids to help your reduce, relieve, and address your anxiety. The techniques and remedies proposed in this book merit recognition. I have always preferred to address the underlying cause of my anxiety instead of medicate it. From all-natural aids to actual strategies meant to help you confront and minimize your fears, I truly appreciated what this book offered.

I would highly recommend this book to anyone who suffers from anxiety. Children and adults alike can benefit from a thorough reading of this book and application of one or more of its proposed solutions.

Very informative book full of practical non pharmaceutical options.

This is a very interesting read. As someone who has struggled with anxiety particularly strong after I had my daughter it provides practical advice and helps to pinpoint the cause of anxiety while learning to help control it. I like that it explores non pharmaceutical options of conquering anxiety, stress and fear. All too often turning to pharmaceutical “fixes” just causes more problems so I really like how this book doesn’t push them like so many seem to! I also like that the author takes the time to explain all of the ailments that that each natural solution can also alleviate on top of their calming components. It explores exercise, mediation as well as herbal options. I highly recommend this book for anyone who is struggling with finding new ways to control their anxiety, stress and fear that doesn’t involve pharmaceutical intervention.

Conquering Your Stress is a great book to read if you or anyone you know suffer from anxiety. It doesn’t matter if it’s only mild or actually severe, there is something in it that will surely help you.
As someone who suffers from mild anxiety and has someone close to me who suffers from crippling anxiety, I’m always reading about the topic. It’s a way, for me, to keep me alert and finding new ways to cope with it. This is not a revolutionary read: many of the stuff written you can find it elsewhere. But the way it is presented is useful, clear and straightforward. There are tips and exercises and it really helps to set your mind into planning and preparation and actually “conquering your stress”.
It is extremely interesting and the author presents its views, explaining how and why and presenting different ways to deal with anxiety.

What an Amazing Informative Book!

I tip my hat to author Gustavo Kinrys for such a magical little book. I love the way you explained the disorders and then gave simple meds..herbal or other techniques to assist with stress, anxiety and other disorders.
"As well as other traumatic experiences like gang rape.

You've taken your time to enlighten your readers of the many options of quelling anxiety. For this I thank you!
The counseling therapies were also useful (CBT), in assisting persons with understanding what its supposed to be.
One addition I would have like to see was a visible representation of the herbs you outlined so perfectly. This is a well written, informative book. The development of this book was written with the persons who suffer depression and fear. Now I have a "go to" guide for help. I think a 5 star is not enough of a rating.

I live a very stressful life, I am a mother of four children, I am a lawyer and a wife! So as you can imagine, I never get a break! If I am not worrying about a case, I am worrying about my children or worrying about my husband or worrying about the state of the house. From the outside in, people think I’ve got the best life ever, but that’s far from the truth. I knew something had to change, therapy was out of the question because I simply don’t have the time, so I started researching self-help books and I came across this one. It provides easy to understand explanations on the reasons and symptoms of stress, as well as practical solutions to overcome them. I have been implementing the strategies and I can definitely notice a difference in my stress levels. I highly recommend this book to anyone who feels that their life is spiraling out of control due to stress.

I thought the book read more like an article, everything was clinically laid out from defining your stress and anxiety to possible solutions for them. I prefer a more tied together book to address having stress or possible solutions. And more point of view of the author than just a clinical look at research. But I did like that the solutions were very clearly laid out (either from taking actual supplements or participating in meditation practices). Each solution chapter ended with a chart that you can easily reference with summaries of what the supplement or herb was targeting and how it works. I think relating to stress this is more of a preference of the reader, which way they want to address their problem. And I am someone that needs a little more nurturing than facts laid out.

A solid holistic approach

Kinrys takes a scientific and practical approach and writes with understanding and feeling. The beginning of this book is quite helpful. He takes the time to examine fear and anxiety, break them down, and point out where they are no longer helpful. This honesty and straightforwardness means you will more quickly identify what your struggle may specifically be and therefore be able to tackle and conquer those things faster.

I really liked that this book recommends a wide variety of herbal remedies and offers supplement/nutrient suggestions as well. There are helpful summarising charts at the end of each section that allow for quick reference.

Nice that the intervention options suggested are not just meditation based, but also look at the physical needs of the body and how they can affect the mind and our outlook. But still does take the time to examine meditation and mindfulness and the positive impact they can have on everyone's lives. Some other very interesting options Kinrys discusses include virtual reality therapy and transcranial magnetic stimulation.

How to cope naturally.

Conquering your stress is a book about how to deal with the stress you have in a positive and natural method. There are several good methods that can be used to help with the management of these feelings of anxiety. One of the best things about this book is the methods are are natural and do not involve taking narcotics to control your emotions. This is a well written book with a lot of useful information and I reccomed anyone who is struggling to try this book out and see how much it can help you.

Finishing up your Master’s diploma can always be stressfull, couple it with running around for job interviews, and you’ll have my past month in a nutshell. I’ve never been a fan of reading self help books especially on stress or fears, but when i came across this one. I gave it a try. And it helped! For real! Just reading it was calming me down and readying me to face the challenges of the next day!
It was an easy read that you can reread it anytime when fealing a bit stressed, or a lot!

Isn’t clinical based

Feel as though it was a bunch of brochures you find at your local mental health facility put into a book. Not my cup of tea. 🤷‍♀️

As an MD, author Gustavo Kinrys intricate physiological knowledge is presented straightforward and in an easily read format. Meditation is thoroughly covered listing various methods then giving step-by-step exercises.

Conquering Your Stress and Fears is a good reference book. Handy to return to over and again.

Awesome knowledge for us who suffer

I have suffered from Generalized Anxiety Disorder and obsessive compulsive Disorder my whole life. Reading this book was amazing. It gave great ways to help with dealing with anxiety at home and without having to need outside treatment, which is usually just medicine. It had been great in helping me feel not alone in my suffering and how I can stop or slow down the cycle of stress and anxiety. Will highly recommend to any.
