Nothing is more deadly than a wicked witch with a grudge.
When Georgia, the first of Tess’s sisters, finally shows up to claim the antique shop she inherits, a dead witch is discovered inside. To unmask the killer they’ll have to outsmart him. Outmaneuver him. Out-spell him. Only one problem stands in her way—Tess isn’t trained to fight like a witch.
You’ll adore this cozy mystery, watching Tess and her sisters on a magical journey to catch a killer while trying to juggle relationships and daily problems.
I write the kind of books that make you check your locks before bed and leave the lights on just in case.

I'm Kate Allenton, an author who lives in the space where paranormal suspense, supernatural thrillers, and edge of your seat crime fiction collide. My stories range from psychics and reapers in small towns that look perfectly normal until they absolutely aren't, to gripping FBI thrillers where the monsters are all too human.
You'll find me writing the Lost Souls Society series, where death is just the beginning of the mystery, and the Psychic Oversight series, where seeing the future doesn't always mean you can change it.
With over 80 books published, I've spent more than a decade perfecting the art of the cliffhanger ending and the 2 AM "just one more chapter" problem.
I enjoy this series, these short-ish, quick read (for me) witch themed cozy mysteries are perfect for my current reading mood, which is "not too heavy, my mind is over-loaded right now, so keep it light and easy". Short, but detailed and good.
Tess finally meets her sisters, Georgia and Margo, and they are hot on the trail of a painting that has a certain design on it. But they aren't the only ones. Others are dying while trying to find it, too. That's the mystery of the book.
There were some real surprises. Keep in mind, I've read all of these novels and love them. They're quick reads and entertaining. I digress. If you've been reading these all along, you know who Friday is (he's a man that was turned into a cat via a curse). He talks but he's still a cat. I loved him from the moment he was introduced into the series. Something happens to him. In addition to that, we find out the secret of Franklin's basement. It was a total surprise. I didn't see that coming at all.
The mystery mixed with a flare of romance kept me turning the pages. The characters are well-defined, amusing, serious yet fun, and I loved them all...well, maybe not Hilda, but you have to read the book to find out why.
The book is short and can be read in one sitting. You don't have to read the previous novels in the series to know what's going on, but they are great reads and you may want to just because the series is so entertaining and you can catch up with my boy Friday.
I want to give this five stars, but there are a few errors that an editor should have caught, but they really didn't affect the reading experience or slow me down. It's a fast, entertaining, fun read.
I'm looking forward to the next book in the series.
Great read. She has met her sister and like herself, she has to stay for a year and run the antique store. When they go to look at it, they find the body of the daughter of the local coven. The same coven that has been pressurising them to join. A further wrinkle is that the young woman had been searching for a specific painting. One that would allow someone to use a death hex on their victim. Then the unexpected arrival of the third sister throws everything wide open. Why is she expected to have a child? Abductions, threats, curses and hexes are all mixed into a great read that will have you wondering what had actually been planned for the three sisters. Especially as the brief encounter she has with time travel seems to bear out that the girls will actually succeed. Wonderful plot, great characters with each sister being as different as night is to day.
I love the characters of this book and the world they live in. Tess has her hands full like usual and now she has met all of her long lost sisters. There are plenty of things revealed and Tess finally makes a choice between the two men who want her. Livvy is still my one of my favorite characters, she’s something else! I really enjoyed this book and if you like a cozy with spunk and sass, you’ll love it too!
I love Tess getting to meet her sisters and the adventure they get up to together. I really enjoy how big things happen in this book, but Tess just takes it all in-stride and doesn't freak out about it. The things that are revealed in this book are pretty awesome and leave you begging for the next one. I don't know how she does it but Kate writes an awesome book that leaves you satisfied but fill of wonder for whats coming next.
I have been provided with a copy of Witch Bait by the author for an impartial review. This is the third book in the Hex Sister Cozy Mystery series and this book was just so good. It was such a quick and easy read. I really enjoyed this story and getting to meet some new characters as well as getting to see some of the previous characters that I had met in earlier books. I really enjoyed getting to see what the current mystery is and I can’t wait to read the next book in the series.
The sisters learn more about the grandmother and their bloodline. They're actually not sure if the grandmother was a good person or not. They have a run-in with a crazy coven member. And we finally learn all about what's going on with Franklin in the basement.
The Hexford Sisters are so fascinating! They have diverse backgrounds and have so much to learn about each other. I love their stories and I can’t wait for the next book!
Super cute cozy mystery. Each book is complete, but builds on the previous, definitely need to read in order. In this book Teas meets her two sisters and learn a secrets from Ryder, Livvy, Franklin and Friday.
I finished this book in one day. This series has got me hooked I started at the beginning of the week and I am fixing to start book 4 highly recommend.
A missing painting, an invitation to join a coven, and another dead body. However, Tess now has two others to help her in the big house, so things are looking up.
Just when you think you have the world, the plot and the characters figured out you learn… you know nothing! But that only makes the book even better. Fantastic read.
