Y no sabía cuánto.
Aviso.
2nd read: Reading Vlog: https://youtu.be/GCFopiHFdg8 This is my favorite cover. I adore it. And these characters. And the way they bounce of each other. They're all so wholly unique and brilliant in different ways.
Also, upon reread (where I'd previously read up to volume 7) I still stand by what I said in 2022 - I don't believe it for a second. There is no WAY! Simply no way. I'll read every damn volume just to be proven right.
1st read: FUCKOFF I refuse to believe this happened. r e f u s e .
I'm currently burying my head in the sand and pretending that I'm not crying.
Bueno, bueno, bueno... ¡PUM!
After the shocking conclusion of the last volume we have our cast in a lot of trouble. The sister wants to ship out Norman, Emma leg is broken, and Ray will never forgive himself if his friends die. This whole volume is one "escape" volume but in doing so we might lose a few people along the way. Will the kids be okay? It's not looking good!
I loved the twist and turns this series makes. The thing is that they withhold JUST enough information to make the surprises fun. Ray comes out as a much more likeable character through this volume too. Poor Emma gets screwed but I love her in this and the facial expressions are great. The ending leads to some exciting future plot. But I always say if I don't SEE a character die on page, they probably aren't dead.
Overall, can't wait to see where we go. A 4.5 out of 5.
It was distressing trying to figure out how the kids would manage to escape. And I was still believing they'd find a way to save Sometimes not everyone can be saved though. 😞 Also, the connection completely blindsided me. I audibly gasped when I figured things out. And still, Mama continued talking about harvesting I ended up reading through to chapter 38 since that's where the escape arc ended, but then I stopped and decided to wait to continue whenever volume 5 comes out.
I just really like this series a lot and I'm hoping they'll make an anime for it.
A Peter Pan retelling like you've NEVER seen before!! Emma, Norman and Ray are the brightest kids at the Grace Field House orphanage. And under the care of the woman they refer to as “Mom,” all the kids have enjoyed a comfortable life. Good food, clean clothes and the perfect environment to learn—what more could an orphan ask for? One day, though, Emma and Norman uncover the dark truth of the outside world they are forbidden from seeing.
The Premise
The Promised Neverland vol 4 totally kicks the previous 3 volumes butts!! I kid you not this series is dynamite... the one manga series that I highly suggest EVERY person on the planet try... Preferably at least 4 volumes (which is kind of a rule around here! Always try 4 before you quit.) Why is it so good...? Well with this kind of story where the mystery and learning what is going on is where the excitement is at you'd think things would get... boring. There'd be a lull. The next volume would be filler and not as exciting. NOPE!!! Even when you BELIEVE you know what's going to happen Kaiu Shirai slips in something totally unexpected.
Volume 4 is pretty dynamite because we've hit a part of the story where we know ABSOLUTELY what is going to happen. There is no escaping it. You can't always outsmart those is power. We don't always win. That would be boring. Sometimes its the how. How do we lose? How do we make the most of it? The story of our lives is about more than ourselves. And it's a beautiful thing!
The Buzz
Mom has totally killed Emma, Norman and Ray's morale. Without them there is no escape in The Promised Neverland vol 4. There is no plan. We see that Mom has been exactly where Emma has been. She had her own mom whispering in her ear. We can see exactly how Mom attained to her powerful position as Mom of a farm. We can feel how Mom became so, so cold toward the lives she takes.
She gives Emma the same opportunity she had. We see what she had to do for her position too. It's a dirty, dirty world but someone has got to survive... What would you do to survive?!
The Feels
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! NOT NORMAN! Norman is my favorite. I'm with Emma here. I totally felt everything she did. I wondered, I thought, I planned... how would they do it!!? I had nothing but Emma and Ray LOVE Norman. They will not give up! They come up with a plan. It's not perfect but surely these three can make it happen.
This is a pivotal moment here in The Promised Neverland vol 4. It's absolutely essential. And yeah I was totally snookered! I fell for it hook, line and sinker. You will too! These kids will totally crush your heart. Life is brutal but we must fight the good fight.
The Visuals
Okay... I rave about Kaiu Shirai because the story in The Promised Neverland vol 4 is so good that all I want to do is sit around and talk to others about it. But now its time to talk about Posuka Demizu!! AMAZZZZZIIIINNNNGGGGGGG ART! Absolutely amazing. The creep factor blows me away. I know when to fear, when to cry, when to exult... simply through the art. Norman's face. Emma's entire body. Mom's expression. Ray's... You get the idea. The emotion is all here. Contained in the art. We love these kids and feel their every victory, their every hurt and sorrow.
The cover of vol 4 did totally scare me. It's so white. It's whitewashed. It's the perfect feel for The Promised Neverland vol 4. Both due to the contrast it is to the more saturated previous colors full of hope and life. And now we have this cover. It told me before I started I was in for something special that will wring me out and leave me wanting and it did just that! Thank you Posuka Demizu.
The Promised Neverland vol 4 is the BEST in the Neverland universe so far. SO FAR! It's emotional, twisty, creepy, inevitable, shocking! This is an incredible journey of survival, intelligence, action and love. Really I can't rave about Emma, Ray and Norman enough. I have to get to The Promised Neverland vol 5 so I'm out, see ya!

Please like this review if you enjoyed it! *bow* *bow* It helps me out a ton!!
Chapter 26. I Want to Live My gosh. Seeing a kid like Norman get so scared about dying at such a young age. They are all scared but Norman will be shipped the next day. He is smart and he will surely find a way to help everyone escape before he get shipped. Everyone is so worried and Emma and Ray are finding a way to help Norman escape!!! OMG let it be successful.
Chapter 27. Won't Let You Die Emma and Ray are desperately trying their best for Norman's sake! No. For Norman's life! It's just so heartbreaking to ponder. I can't imagine the pain they feel for Norman. Their friendship and love for each other is moving. It is such a beautiful thing between them. Also, thank goodness they were able to convince Norman of their plan. Finally, I can't imagine how Ray felt knowing the truth all these years.
Chapter 28. Concealment, Part 1 I can't help but be amaze by Ray. His memory skills is absolutely incredible. Who remembers their life like Ray does? Well not me. I also feel glad that they are finally relieved going through their plan. It's great how they organize it and include Gilda and Don. The most awaited part is the device to disable the tracker. OMG. These kids are just incredible!
Chapter 29. Concealment, Part 2 My gosh. THE MOST HEARTBREAKING CHAPTER OF ALL. :'( This is just so painful. :'( Beyond the wall is a cliff. Then Norman is getting shipped. Emma and Ray are broken because of Norman's shipment. This is just f*cked up.
Chapter 30. Resistance I thought the last chapter was the most heartbreaking BUT IT IS THIS CHAPTER!!! OMG NORMAN! 😭 Emma and Ray are really devastated of this.
Chapter 31. Emptiness Isabella recommending Emma to be Mom is outrageous! Gosh the audacity. Thank goodness Emma is not affected at all and is still trying her best for escape even with all the pain! Then now it is Ray's last night before his birthday and shipped out.
Chapter 32. Action, Part 1 I feel sad for Ray. Like all his life his plan is just to die on his 12th day than be eaten by monster which is a better way I guess. But it is still sad. He planned everything well and took a lot of memories from the children in the house. It is very sad. 🥺 Also thank goodness Emma haven't given up.
Chapter 33. Action, Part 2 OMG FINALLY! FINALLY!!!! The fire is such a perfect distraction and destruction! Wohooo. Isabella is certainly fooled at first. She's just so desperate that she will just save Ray's brain like whatttt. So f*cked. Though thank goodness they are able to go away and Ray is able to be persuaded. And Emma's ears! Though that isn't important but her ears!!!
Chapter 34. Action, Part 3 OMG NORMAN IS JUST A GENIUS. He was able to device a plan even before he got shipped out. It is amazing. Also telling everyone who is old enough about the truth is a smart. The great thing is they cooperate! Amazing. It is also good that Ray doesn't know any of this and have not interacted with Emma for 2 months or else their plan will be busted. Omg. Smart kids!!!
Muchas veces estaba leyendo y diciendo: "ESTO NO ESTÁ PASANDO", "ESTO NO ESTÁ PASANDO".
Lloro amargamente. Bueno, no, pero casi. No me puedo puedo creer - DE VERDAD QUE NO - que haya pasado. Así, a lo bestia. A traición.
When I thought volume 3 was good and then I read this! I read this volume in one sitting and even picked up the 5th because I HAD to know what was going to happen. The emotion of this volume made me close to tears, and the end made me so full of hope. Such a tragic, yet beautiful series that I am so in love with. By far the best manga I've ever read (though I haven't read many, I still feel it's always going to be at the top for me).
The Promised Neverland just gets better and better. This was definitely the best volume I've read so far. Can sense that this is going to be just great. Need to get my hands on the other volumes ...
