A true love story with a happily ever after ending and a middle full of action, turmoil and danger. Vampire lore that was given was helpful as it explained why certain things were done. A great paranormal read by an author whose books I enjoy.

Delilah McDade has born the brunt of responsibility of her younger brother, Declan's wild lifestyle for years, until the night she learns it's come back to bite both of them in the form of vampire Ash Lockler. Delilah has a prim exterior but she dreams of hot vampires and other nocturnal creatures to give her a break from her life that, while satisfying, is lonely. Ash is tempting but she knows that she could never be a part of his life lived in the shadows. Ash Lockler lives his undead life as part of the seedy underworld with a stone cold heart. That doesn't stop him from helping damsel-in-distress, Delilah, but he's intent on keeping things all business and ending their association as soon as possible. The problem is that he can't seem to get his body - and heart - to agree with his reasoning when he and Delilah are thrown together in a deadly situation that may get her killed and cost him his freedom.

Crimson -

… and this folks is how you write Paranormal Romance! *swoon* Being a fan of vampires myself I was very intrigued after reading the description of Crimson and was pulled in even more with the sexy cover art. Forget playing it safe in this adventure as Ash Lockler is definitely not the Edward Cullen type… He is so MUCH more! Instantly likable for me, Ash is the book boyfriend you have been looking for with his devil-may-care attitude and soulful green eyes. This alpha male takes what he wants, when he wants in this dark underground world... until he meets the lovely independent, Delilah.

Starting the story I was impressed with the author’s way of bringing the two main characters together within the first few pages. There is nothing more frustrating than reading several chapters waiting for the sparks to fly. In this case, you are thrust into the world of Delilah and Ash as you experience their first interaction become something intense and much bigger. Delilah is the perfect “heroine” in that she isn’t whiny and has her own things going on. She isn’t following Ash around like a lost puppy (like in some novels I’ve read) and stands her ground when things aren’t right. The events laid out within the story were very well done and I didn’t feel like things were taking too long or cutting things too short. The antagonist, Queen Galina, does her best to come between these two star-crossed lovers but is no match for the fates at hand. Tamela writes vampires in the best way by sticking to a more conventional set of rules instead of creating a whole new complicated world that leaves me distracted and questioning situations like sunlight and turning a human into a vamp. With a lot of action, this book kept me engaged and wanting to read “just one more chapter” before bed.

All in all I was very pleased with this read and loved how everything wrapped up. Although I was sad to say goodbye to Ash and Delilah, I appreciate that the author was concise and concluded everything within this novel as a stand alone. I would recommend this book to anyone looking for a good romance, especially those who like a little paranormal mixed in. I am very excited to add this author to my new faves. Crimson, was a fantastic and quick read and I can’t wait to check out other offerings by Tamela Miles.

Don’t judge. I know. I actually read a paranormal romance and I’m actually blogging about it. What drew me into the book was Ash. I admit that I didn’t like Twilight and all the vamps but I really liked Ash. It wasn’t his coolness but his thoughtfulness, his heart that sold me on the character. I’m a sap when it comes to the hero actually having a heart and the fact that he isn’t a douche either helps. Plus, when it came time for him to be an enforcer, I was just sold. He just went about his business and it was done. Plus, knowing about his backstory just fueled my love for him.

Delilah, at first, just seemed like an afterthought to Ash. Sure, he cared about her but what I loved about her is that she dished it back just as hard. She stood up for herself to Ash, despite feeling vulnerable and unable to process his world. Plus, knowing that her dad and now brother had dealings with the vamps didn’t help with her relationship with Ash in the beginning. That aside, she is a strong heroine even if she couldn’t really her conflicted feelings about Ash.

The world that Ms. Miles has built is fascinating. I love it when authors blend the paranormal with the mortal world and here it just works. It’s plausible, realistic, if not horrifying at the same time. At times, this book is dark. One of the biggest plot points is about human trafficking in human women for male vamps to feed on until they are tired of them. A timing topic with a paranormal spin on it. It’s not pretty and trust me when the queen, Galina is involved it is just terrible. What a *itch to the 9th degree but she is the perfect villain. We don’t normally see a woman as the bad guy and she is just great. I won’t spoil the ending but I wasn’t sad at all.

Overall, I really enjoyed Crimson. It was different from the other vampire books that are out there. Plus, Ash is just a sweety. Word to the wise, this book is extra hot.

This could have been a boring romance or vampire book. But the author skillfully wove the two elements into a charming and entertaining tale of lust, love and had plenty of action tossed into the mix.

There were a few variations on the vampire genre but not enough to distract and they were used carefully to advance the plot. Can any typical vampire fan like this? I think so. Can any typical romance fan like this? Again, I think so.

I would expect follow up work from the author and look forward to reading it!

I’m not usually a fan of books in the paranormal genre but with Halloween around the corner I thought I’d give one a try. I was pleasantly surprised by Crimson which had vampires and humans intermingling and humans who change into vampires. Delilah and Ash have instant chemistry and heat although they were not communicating on the same page most of the time especially since she’s human and agreed to settle her brother’s debt with Ash who is a vampire and his life is as an undead. This was a quick read at only one-hundred and thirty two pages and I managed to read it in a few hours.

There are Vampire Councils, the queen and elders who seem to control the vampires but also have rival factions. There are a lot of evil vampires with hidden agendas and then others like Ash and his team who are trying to protect not only other vampires and their business interests but also the humans they come in contact with. There were twists and turns to the story and differences since vampires are active at night and must sleep during the day. They also feast on the blood of animals or humans rather than eat food. The flow of the story went from the present to the past through reminisces and memories. There were intimate moments that definitely heat up the sheets! There was nice closure with the epilogue and loose ends were tied up. There was an unexpected happily ever after too.

Miles is a new to me author since I don’t usually read paranormal books but would be willing to give another one of her books a try.

Favorite Quote: “I’m the same inside as I am on the outside,” she responded tightly. “What you call prim is conservative, logical-”

He shook his head, coming to stand right in front of her. “Controlled and uptight.”…

Ash and Deli have such an amazing chemistry together! Tamela has given these two are a sexy duo in her newest current release. This is the first book I have read of Tamela. It all starts with Delilah having to deal once again with her brother's problems. Her younger brother seems to always find himself in trouble. Deli always has to bail out her younger brother but this time she comes face to face with Ash Lockler a vampire who is sex and demanding. He is a sexy 100 year old Vampire who has an instant attraction between them. She believed it was only $5,000 that her brother owed but to come to find out it was a lot more. Lucky for her the younger brother made a bargain with Ash. He wants Deli to use her body on a long term basis as a blood donor. Of course Delilah refused but she had no power over Ash when he glamour her convincing her that they were longtime friends. It will keep you glue to your kindles. Great read if you like the paranormal romance.

This is a great escape read, it is set in a beautifully created paranormal world. It is exciting with a streak of danger and tension running through it. The story has layers to it, with insights into different moments in the characters lives.
Ash is swoon worthy. He’s the perfect flawed hero, devil with a heart. You can’t help but fall a bit in love with him from the beginning. Delilah is a delight of a character too. She’s strong, sassy and determined. She’s also brave and loyal. You can’t help but want her to prevail throughout the book.
This is a short, quick read but it’s also a feel good read that will make you smile.

I like both of the main characters in this story. They are a well-matched pair, she is brave and independent although I think Delilah did a lot of sacrificing for her immature brother. Ash is an enforcer, he fits that bill completely. His world quickly merges with hers and their situation is a dangerous adventure that only the strong and determined can survive. Plot engages emotions, the drama provokes anxiousness, and brings life and love to a very challenging situation.

I received a free copy of this book from Reading Alley and am voluntarily leaving a review.

I really enjoyed this story. Delilah's sense of family loyalty and protectiveness made her such a great character. She had a very forgiving heart when it came to her brother and even when Ash misspoke in order to protect her. As for Ash, he had a great sense of right and wrong even when he wallowed in his own despair and skirted the line of doing the right thing. His connection to Delilah saved him and gave him something to live for. I recommend this story.

I received a copy of this story through Goddessfish Promotions, and this is my unsolicited review.

Ash and Delilah

This was a nice read. Poor Delilah has had to get her brother out if some pretty bad messes but he’s really done it now. He’s offered his sister’s blood for 6 months to a year to clear his gambling debt. Ash, the vampire, is all to willing to accept this offer until he has one taste of Delilah. She is too good for him. So he pays off the debt but that puts Delilah in danger from the vampire queen, who wants Ash again. Things get really messy then. This book did not flow well and the dialogue was really weird at times, hence the 3 stars.

An engaging evenings read to curl up with in the cool of Autumn with a nice hot toddy... A well written combination of the paranormal, exciting bouts of action that are spiced with romantic sexiness. A bit of a different take on the Vampiric tale with some refreshing twists thrown in to freshen it up. Ash & Delilah make a spectacular interracial pairing in more ways than one. I would definitely give further writings of Tamela Miles a try to add to my ebook library.

Vampire love

This story has a good premise. Vampire “bad “ guy with hidden heart of gold meets feisty human girl; lol be ensues. At times, the story is a bit choppy and is not fully developed as it would be in a full length novel, but Miles has potential.

Crimson

Fangtastic! A romantic tale to sink your teeth into. Overall I enjoyed the story itself but the characters and their interactions felt unnatural and forced to further the story so it just wasn’t believable for me.

Crimson is an entertaining, page turning vampire love story that I devoured in one sitting. The romance between Delilah and Ash is the perfect combination of heat and sweetness. As much as I enjoyed Delilah's strong , loyal character Ash took my breath away. I loved the sexy vampire who tried to protect Delilah. The world created by this talented author thrust us into the politics of the immortal world and what happens when it collides with the mortal one. A unique story that I recommend if you're looking to escape for a few hours.

Crimson is a little bit steamy romance, a little bit gangster enforcer novel, a little bit kidnapper suspense and a whole lot vampire fun in a story told with Tamela Miles' usual comfortable narrative style and attention to detail.
If you're at all a vampire fan, this one's a worthwhile read.

Crimson had an interesting storyline. Delilah's brother runs to a gambling debt, and to pay it off, he offers to his sister's blood! Ash was a bad boy vampire with a side of softness, and he and Delilah had some good chemistry. I liked this book. It was engaging and intriguing.
