Vintage Romance with a Modern Twist - Debra J. Falasco is a Mom of one and wife of a classic MOPAR collector. She published her first novel in August of 2018 and hasn't stopped writing since. When not working, she can be found with a good book in hand, cooking, or just enjoying family time with her husband and son.
Most impressive in this intriguing Old English Royal Historical romance and mystery was the in-depth description of emotions of the main characters. From a sixteen-year-old Marchal in love with an older Lord Adrian to a young woman of nineteen, a roller coaster of emotions and behaviors were realistically portrayed throughout. The author was able to maintain one's attention via the mystery involved, despite not totally revealing the actual culprit responsible, being exposed more-than-likely in a sequel. For the reader who enjoys deep character analysis in a historical setting, this novel is recommended.
This is book one of The Tales of Chapel Hall. Having kept away for three years, Adrian Ravesnpur returns to Winston Manor to celebrate the 30th Wedding Anniversary of his best friend's parents. Here he sees Machelle, the girl he upset those three years ago in the hope of stopping her childhood infatuation, and breaking the hold she had on him. Now grown, he is forced to admit the attraction between them is real. Adrian's love brings Machelle the confidence she has always suppressed as the over-protected baby of the family, but when danger threatens her, it is Adrian who is tasked with her protection. Set in the early years of the Victorian era, there are highwaymen, kindly ghosts, a supporting cast who promise future stories and a love story which is powerful, I loved this story and cannot recommend it enough.
A super read. This book has everything. From highway robbery to kidnapping. I love the main characters and the stories around them. I cannot wait to read the next adventure with them.
I really loved this book. It is the first I have read from Debra Falasco. It is a sweet, sexy romance with complex characters, a little danger and a growing mystery.
I love that you see the characters actually change as they realize their love, work to make their relationship work, and face danger in an ongoing mystery.
I especially love how Machelle goes from a typical young, protected female to a spunky, confident woman who knows her worth and her mind in the backdrop of the early Victorian era. This is the first in a series, and I look forward to seeing Machelle continue to kick butt as she explores the new freedoms that the Victorian era brings. This era is one of my favorites for romantic suspense because of all the new technology, science and cultural ideas that it presents and all of that is in this book. So much fun!
At the same time Machelle is evolving, we see glimpses of Adrian's past, which is a mystery of it's own and extends beyond his personal past to that of his ancestors as well.
I also enjoyed the introduction to Machelle's siblings, whom I hope to see have their own romances and mysteries as well as Adrian's friends. Can't wait for the next book!
