An easy read and funny enough, but way too many pop culture references that are not described enough for me to catch on to. It is also a couple years old by now, but i’d be interested in reading a similar book at the end of the shows run.
First, if you have never seen Riverdale or if you are not caught up on current events, this book contains spoilers. Ryan Bloomquist, and Samantha Gold compile a delightful full color investigation into the tv show Riverdale. Peppered with Riverdale setting photos, fun facts, and filming tidbits. Though, there are no photos of the cast of Riverdale or their comic counterparts. This book gives the general scoop of each major character in the show, with a bulleted list of their crimes. The majority of this book feels like a character roasting, listing all the character’s faults and mistakes made on the show. In these descriptions there are a lot of general references to the events of the show. This tends to be a bit confusing if you are not an avid watcher, or redundant for fans of the show. A reference list referring to specific episodes, would have been helpful. Overall, this book is a fun conversation with the Riverdale fan community.
Riverdale is one of my guilty pleasures. It’s campy and soapy and bizarre and a total escape. Clearly the authors feel the same way! This book was a love letter to the series in the best ways possible.
Perfect for fans of the Riverdale series on the CW. This book does a pretty in-depth analysis of a lot of the characters in the book. It is not the full series though as it was written in the middle of the series. So there are questions and speculations in the book that have been answered later in the series. It is still an interesting read if you love the series and want to get more in-depth into the characters and places throughout the series.
