SEAL Team Six #7

SEAL Team Six: Hunt the Viper

Rate this book
Don Mann and Ralph Pezzullo's shockingly authentic military thriller sends Thomas Crocker and his SEAL Team Six brothers to confront a notorious ISIS general, The Viper, during the occupation of Aleppo, Syria.

Despite the efforts of the Assad government and its Russian and Turkish allies, Syria is succumbing to the Islamic State. While Crocker and his SEAL Team Six comrades try to help a small Kurdish border town organize a resistance army, he finds an unexpected connection with Severine, a French epidemiologist working for Doctors Without Borders.

As Severine and her colleagues establish a makeshift hospital in besieged Aleppo, Crocker counsels caution. He knows too well that their NGO status will be no protection from the Viper, a notoriously vicious ISIS general with a deeply personal hatred of the West. When the Viper's men kidnap one of Severine's American colleagues, Crocker will pull every string at his disposal to launch a rescue mission. But in a situation where the US has no official business, he'll push every boundary of how far he's willing to go -- and how far his SEAL brothers in arms will follow him -- to save innocent lives.

actual book rating: 3.5 stars

It's my first time to read a 7th book in a series ng walang kaalam-alam sa plot and I'm glad I finally picked this up. It talked about global fight topics na need i-address lalo na sa warzones ng Earth esp in the Middle East.

The main protagonist, Thomas, is what I aspire to be. To be of help to other people without expecting in return but making his country proud. The dedication of this book got me first because it's inspiring that the authors called out everyone in the front line wanting fight evil and oppression.

I'm just so glad that nobody in the team died but sadly, Severíne did died (she did not died in vain tho) It's sick to read the pOV of the antagonists who has ulcer in the gum which I had to google and its singaw pala 😭😭😭 ang OA ko pa nag react ng 'ew' non, singaw lang pala. Anw, it's disgusting how they think of the God's word lyk that na to spread evil and punish those na hindi naniniwala sa Kanya, HINDI NAMAN SILA ANG LITERAL NA GOD PERO BAT GANON SILA NA NAG TAKE INITIAVE NA MANG HOSTAGE AT MANG TORTURE NG DI NANINIWALA KAY GOD HAYZ ANG DISGUSTING BC IT HAPPENS IN REAL KASI AND it made me wonder if that's the Quran really wanted to say or they altered it kasi shuta ano ba yon

All in all, I liked it and the reading journey is not badd!! Read it in 4 sittings, I think? I read it in a day.

"SEAL Team Six: Hunt the Viper" eBook was published in 2018 and was written by Don Mann (http://usfrogmann.comand) and Ralph Pezzullo (http://ralphpezzullo.com).  Mr. Mann has authored or co-authored a dozen books, while Mr. Pezzullo has authored or co-authored seventeen. This is the seventh novel in their "SEAL Team Six" series.

I received an ARC of this novel through https://www.netgalley.com in return for a fair and honest review. I categorize this novel as ‘R’ because it contains scenes of Violence and Mature Language. The story is set mostly in the Middle East. The primary character is US Navy SEAL Thomas Crocker.

Crocker and his team are in Syria and are confronted with ISIS combatants. While defending a Syrian city from attack, he meets the young French epidemiologist Severine Tessier risking her life there as a volunteer with Doctors Without Borders. She and Crocker connect.

Months later, a colleague of Tessier's is kidnapped by ISIS forces. Her imminent execution is announced. Tessier reached out to Crocker for help to rescue her colleague. While officially told NO, Crocker and his team make a desperate attempt to rescue the girl before she is executed. Tessier mounts her own search for her young colleague. It is a race to see if either will find the girl before she is executed.

I thoroughly enjoyed the 6.4 hours I spent reading this 320 page modern Special Ops thriller.  I liked this novel as the story had more of a realistic feel to it than many of this genre. I like the cover art. I give this novel a 4.5 (rounded up to a 5) out of 5.

I am usually not a big fan of military thrillers but this title opened my eyes. So much so that I will be adding the rest of the series to my TBR list. Here team leader Tom Crocker and his mates are in Iraq, fighting the good fight. Their mission is to resue a French helicopter crew that has crashed in Syria. The mission is dangerous and reality hits home when they run into a number of ISIS soldiers. After a fierce battle, they get close to a high-value asset, Samir al- Sufi, The Viper. The Viper captures a civilian doctor and the hostage faces an ugly death. Crocker and his buddies attempt a dangerous and thrilling rescue which results in multiple casualties. The action is forceful and violent and the war scenes are electric.

If you've ever watched Strike Back on Cinemax, Seal Team Six, Hunt the Viper, is the written version. Great non-stop action plus insight into all sides of the conflicts. Tom Crocker and his men are in Northern Syria near the Turkish Border fighting ISIS when Sheik al-Sufi, aka The Viper, kidnaps an American nurse, Dayna Hood, working with Doctors Without Borders. Her friend and co-worker, Severine Tessier, a French Entomologist who has close feelings for Crocker tries to find her before she is executed by The Viper. Crocker and his men go against direct orders to stay away from the conflict until more intel is found on the whereabouts of Hood, but of course, they know if they wait even a second she could be dead. You'll have to read this fast action book to find out what happens.

This wasn't as good as the previous books. It wasn't bad either. Crocker is again leading his team to find and rid the area of ISIS members. It didn't feel that this was cohesive unit like in the previous book. Yes they worked well together but it wasn't as fun to read about them like before. This book does take a sad ending. I also think it's time for Crocker to retire. If you have liked the other books in this series you will still like this one.

The first book in the series I am mildly conflicted about. I've always enjoyed the idea that our man Crocker was more complicated than the typical alpha male protagonist that populate action thrillers. The action and plot are as good as the other books in this series. I don't want to give anything away, but (you knew that was coming) the ending felt rushed and unsatisfying IMHO. As my son says when he's trying to be diplomatic about his Mother's cooking, "It wasn't half bad."

I won this as a ARC as part of a goodreads giveaway. I enjoyed reading it. It is my first book by this author. I liked this novel as the story had more of a realistic feel to it than many of this genre. Sometimes though while reading this type of story, it would help to have map pages to refer to and show relevant locations mentioned in the story.

I enjoyed this more than the previous novel in the series. There was more character development and the need to provide extraneous technical details was lessened. The storyline was timely as well with the current situation in Syria still ongoing.
These are a great and fast read if you like military techno thrillers

Čteno v českém překladu Lov Zmije

Zatím poslední díl lapálií Seala Toma Crokera a jeho jednotky. Opět situovaný do Sýrie.

I've liked the Seal Team Six series overall. This installment was good, but I wouldn't rank it as the best in the series. Tom Crocker once again plays the hero of the story. The special forces action and rogue nature of his team hold true. However Hunt the Viper lacks some of the character depth the other books had. It's still a 4 star delivery from Mann and Pezzullo.

Not as good as 1-4

Disappointed. I felt this book focused more on the enemy and their religion. I found myself skimming last all the false religion stuff. Not as good as one through four.

I've read a few of this series, but this one seemed to flow less easily than the others. I don't plan to read any more, and only read this one (skimmed, really) because I already had it.

I love the SEAL Team Six/Thomas Crocker series and when there wasn't a book released last year, I worried that Din Mann and Ralph Pezullo wouldn't be continuing the stories. Glad that I was wrong, and the duo bounce back with Crocker and his Black Cell unit taking on an ISIS commander and rescuing an American hostages. Slow start, it has to be said, but a roaring finish. I love how they balance Crocker's missions with his life back at home. Hope we don't have to wait two years for another SEAL Team Six installment.

"SEAL Team Six: Hunt the Viper" is book 7 in the series by Don Mann and Ralph Pezzullo.

Without a doubt, this military htriller is a page-turner. As you read, you could actually see the novel coming alive on the large screen!

Tom Crocker and his team of Seals are in Iraqi Kurdistan to rescue the survivors of a French helicopter crash. It is no easy mission due to the insurgents who want to take over the village. The Viper who leads the group of terrorists is the main threat. Doctors without Borders are there to help the people in the village.. This book makes you feel as if you are there. War, death, innocents and sorrow, but also courage, hope, selflessness and love. This book makes you think. It takes special people to do what has to be done in times of war and crisis. It is a book that should be read, more than once. I received this book from Net Galley for an honest review.

Very good book from a great author. I have read previous books from the series and all have been exceptionall. This is a story about Tom Crocker and the fight against ISIS as well as the horrors of Syria. They are facing an ISIS commander al Sufi and this book moves at a breakneck pace. Highly recommend to anyone who loves realistic military action while also not downplaying the bureaucracy involved.
