I enjoyed both stories, however, I did not enjoy carrying a book so large around as I read it. This is a publishing problem, each book stands alone. There was no need to combine them under one title.

This book is actually two older books packed together and republished. I think it’s a little misleading because I expected two new stories and found that I have read one of the two. The first book with in this book is called A Bride’s Portrait of Dodge City, Kansas by Erica Vetsch. It was originally published in 2011. You can read my review of this book HERE.

The 2nd book is called A Bride’s Sweet Surprise in Sauers, Indiana by Ramona K. Cevil. It was originally published in 2012. Regina is the youngest daughter of a German farmer. Her older sisters married for love but her father wants the farm to go to another German so he finds her a husband who is. He is the son of a friend from the old country. Neither Regina or Diedrich(her intended) want to get married and once they realize they both feel the same way they hatch a plan to change their parents minds. Yet as they get to know each other they both start to question why they don’t want to marry after all. Then a family secret emerges that threatens to rip both family’s apart.

What I liked: The story was fun. I have read other arranged marriage books but this one was a little different and I liked it. It was not all sunshine and roses but I really liked how the characters interacted with each other. They were very likeable.

What I did not like: Regina’s oldest sister comes back to live with her family for a while and there is a side story with this and I really did not like it. The book could have easily been fine without it and the way it ended that part of the story was kind of fast and did not feel like it fit.

Overall this was a good book and quite enjoyable. The first story which I read back in 2011 was also good so overall this is a great book to pick up and you get two great stories in one. My only complaint is I did not realize the stories were just reprinted books bound together and not first run stories.

Two great inspiring and exciting stories in one Great Plains Brides is definitely worth a try. While a little long with some unnecessary plot twists it was nevertheless enjoyable.
