The Contract
I don't usually read M/M books, but since the author was Claire Thompson, I decided to give it a chance and I was glad I did. I soon forgot that these were all men and was absorbed by the human dynamics and an insight into a different perspective of BDSM.
There was intrigue and skullduggery fed by jealousy, there was education and there was a beautiful love story that warms the heart. If you are into M/M this is a must read and if you are more M/F I would encourage you to try, you won't be disappointed.
Cowboy Poet
This is a love story, but to me it is more, it is an exploration of the human psyche. Many of us have secrets about things we are ashamed of, and the longer we keep them, the worse they seem to us, and that is the case with Tyler. Coming from rough, tough cowboy country with an apparently red neck father, being gay is bad enough, but being a masochistic submissive makes Tyler feel completely ashamed. One of the ranch hands takes advantage and abuses Tyler to the point he is forced to leave the ranch and work as a journalist in the city. Clint, is the stereotypic cowboy and the characters so often played by Sam Elliott are brought to mid. Clint has the calm demeanor and self awareness that Tyler needs and as their relationship unfolds, Tyler is able to come to terms with his sexuality. The reaction of Tyler's family when he finally tells them is perfect and the way Wayne is dealt with is the way all bullies should be dealt with.
The only reason I gave this book 4 stars and not 5 is that the "mystery" was weak to my mind and could have gone on longer before being resolved.
Texas Surrender
This is a raw, gritty romance until the end when love develops. Both J.D. and Avery struggle in different ways, Avery is in denial and with the biggest chip on his shoulder. He is afraid of himself and is very insecure in his life. J.D. has been knocked back in both his love life and his career, but he is secure in his sexuality. A family tragedy brings these two unlikely people together and J. D.'s experience and instant desire eventually allows him to win Avery's trust and submission. It is this character development that Claire Thompson does so well, the reader completely understands how and why the characters evolve as they do, and of course there is a happy ending that is always plausible.
Sub For Hire
I think this is one of the most erotic of the M/M romances written by Claire Thompson. Initially, I thought it would be about Josh and Sam, and in some ways it was, but not the way I thought. Michael seemed distant but he had reason to be wary and the deep sense of trust and emotion that develops between them made me tingle. There was a sense of education throughout the book, but not in a preachy way rather as a natural sensitive and erotic part of Josh's journey.
Heart Thief
I really thought I was not going to like this book as I couldn't stand Glenn and every time he called Luke "boy", I thought of 'Heat of the Night' and all the racist negative, attitudes of the South. Sawyer on the other hand was lovely, perhaps because of who he was influenced by what he had been through, but his insight was just what Luke needed. The reader's emotions are testament to Claire Thompson's skill in character development and her ability to draw the reader into the emotions of the book.
Switch
This is a very different book but no less satisfying. While it is a love story, it is also a powerful insight into the journey of self discovery for one man. Dane was firmly of the belief that he was a successful businessman and a Dominant and in his mind they are inextricably linked. He had to be a Dom because he was a strong man. Nathan, who was completely sure of both his identity and sexuality knew that Dane was a submissive and this book is Nathan's story of releasing Dane's submissiveness and their unfolding love affair. There are very few other characters and to bring others into the relationship would divert from the psychological depth of the story. It is not a traditional page turner, there are no intrigues or diversions and none are needed.

Falling in love
Six rather hot stories about falling in love, often in challenging circumstances. The stories are engaging and entertaining. I did have an issue with abrupt endings though. Granted, issues were mostly resolved leading one to believe in a hea. But, in my humble opinion, epilogues would have enhanced, or at least provided a more definitive ending. Instead, issues resolved, hug, kiss, next story. Although a definite happy-for-now, not a definite happy-ever-after leaving one to wonder if the author was hampered by word count restrictions, or just preferred leaving the reader to decide. I guess it works, but I found it jarring to turn the page, looking for more of the story I am reading, only to discover a new story entirely. Otherwise, a good collection of hot stories.

I'd give these stories a solid 3.5. Why not more? They were all true 'nice' romances and even though I'm a hetro female they were all really romantic. They were not however outstanding, just a saucy BDSM type Mills and Boon. Would recommend if you are looking for a light easy read.
