I have read several books by Joel Osteen and love every one of them. This book is the first I have read by Victoria and I was so thrilled to find it just as encouraging as his.

Exceptional You is a book loaded with stories and messages that make it easy to understand God's love for us. This book focuses on us and our confidence in growing ourselves through God's belief in us.

It is not written with men or women in mind. It is for any one, any age, that needs help understanding the level of love God holds in His heart for us and why we need to understand and believe in ourselves the same as He does.

We all have gifts and we were brought here to find and use those gifts for the glory of God. Victoria uses many references from scripture to show us those that lacked the belief in themselves, yet went on to show how they prospered physically or spiritually once they committed to and believed the Lord.

This is a perfect book for anyone that needs a reminder about who's child they are and what God has done for us. He believes in our abilities because He gave us those abilities. We give back honor and thanks when we use those them to our best ability.

The end of each chapter is a check list of sorts to remind you of the truths about God and to remember the stories and scripture she uses. I love this part!

Who do you know that would love a book like this? You have to check it out!

As with all of Victoria's books, I loved the extravagant encouragement I found throughout all the pages. Her personal stories made me think, gave me a desire to love the person God made me to be AND made me laugh!

The biggest impact this book has made in my every day life is that it has caused me to become intentional about how I am living. So many times the circumstances of my life seem to take center stage and dictate how my day goes (positive or negative). This book reminds me that I have the power of choice as to how I will respond to my circumstances knowing that I am Exceptional because God made me that way and has chosen me as His own! It's uplifting and practical and I have truly been able to apply the points on a daily basis.

It has been a long winter in many parts of the country. Where I live is no exception. At the same time, we have had some extra challenges in our family that have been discouraging at times. With everything combined, I was ready for something positive and encouraging to read. Exceptional You! by Victoria Osteen has been balm to my tired soul and it could be a blessing for you too.

Exceptional You! has a subtitle of "7 Ways to Live Encouraged, Empowered, and Intentional." As you would expect this book is divided into an introduction with seven sections: Know That you are Chosen, Lift Up Your Eyes, Keep your Memory Box Full, Travel Light, Love Well, live in the Now and Power Up. Each section has two chapters detailing how to live in that special way. Each chapter also has a summary at the end with the main points of that chapter to easily refer back to, which I especially like.

I found Exceptional You! to be full of practical and encouraging stories and advice on how to live a full life for Christ in our modern world. I can't say that these are all new ideas, but they are all good refreshers that we often forget and need to read now and again. I know they were good for me to read at this time when I was starting to get down from a lot of bad weather and some life challenges. I appreciated how Victoria shared some of the hard things she has gone through and how God has used those things to cause her to look to Him or to live differently. She also shares some uplifting stories. I especially liked her story about the silver box in chapter 5. She continually points readers to passages and verses in Scripture and reminds them that God is watching over them. I marked several passages to go back to and re-read when I think I need them. For me, Exceptional You! is a good book to keep in my library for those times I need to remember.

I received this book from the publisher. I was not required to write a positive review. #sponsoredbyfaithwords

This is a very encouraging book. Osteen shares seven practices she does to keep her moving in her exceptional self. When applied, she says, these practices will keep us encouraged, empowered, and inspired along the way. She includes Bible stories and personal stories to illustrate the practices.

I like her practices. They are firmly rooted in the Bible and are very positive. Osteen begins with our affirming we a chosen by God. He knows us, all of us, and loves us. That is a good practice for battling those thoughts of not being loved or not being good enough. Osteen also reminds us that God has plans for us. We have potential but we must say “yes” to what God has for us.

I like Osteen's emphasis on our thoughts. We need to pay attention to them and learn how to encourage ourselves. We cannot rely on someone else. We must also know where we are to focus our thoughts, reminding ourselves of God's blessings and the good memories we have.

I like Osteen's call to positive action. One of her practices is to be sure to bless a person every day. And a practice that surprised me was to appreciate what we have right now. Sometimes we are so focused on what we are expecting God to do in our lives we miss what He is doing right now.

This is an encouraging book for women in general. It might appeal more to upper middle class women since Osteen includes stories of successful and wealthy people. Women in lower economic situations might be a bit intimidated.

I received a complimentary egalley of this book from the publisher. My comments are an independent and honest review.

If You Don’t Feel Exceptional, You Need to Read This Book

Let’s be honest. From time to time, even the most positive person feels discouraged. Victoria Osteen has written a Biblical and encouraging book, EXCEPTIONAL YOU! Subtitled “7 ways to live encouraged, empowered and intentional,” the storytelling and writing in this book is excellent.

For example, in an early chapter focused on keeping your eyes on the promises of God, she writes, “When you feel down and discouraged, you need to pay attention to what you are thinking. Just as I rearranged my furniture, we need to rearrange our thinking so we can see things from a new perspective. So often we don’t pay attention to the way our thoughts affect our attitudes. Don’t let your thoughts push you around; push our thoughts around and be made new in the attitude of your mind. Scripture says put on a fresh attitude everyday.” (Page 38)

I enjoyed EXCEPTIONAL YOU! and read it cover to cover. I highly recommend this excellent book.

I have been a fan of Pastor Joel Osteen and his preaching for years now and have enjoyed his podcasts and books. This was my first time reading a book by his wife, Victoria who is co-pastor, and she is just as positive, inspirational, and uplifting . I thoroughly enjoyed every word and loved all of her real-life stories. I look forward to reading more books by Victoria. I thank Netgalley for the opportunity to read and review this book.

Exceptional You! was exactly the book I needed in the month of April. I was a part of the Hachette FaithWorks book club for this book and there were interesting discussions of it online. The subtitle of the book is “7 Ways to Live Encouraged, Empowered, and Intentional.”

Victoria Osteen is the co-pastor of Lakewood Church in Houston with her husband Joel. In this book, Victoria discusses taking a step back and thinking about yourself in a new way. She discusses how God would want you to not only strengthen your faith, but for you to love yourself and put your best step forward. She discusses seven ways to become extraordinary:
1. Know that You are Chosen
2. Lift Up Your Eyes
3. Keep Your Memory Box Full
4. Travel Light
5. Love Well
6. Live in the Now
7. Power Up

The book was broken up into these seven sections. Each section had a couple of chapters on how to put this practice into use in your life. Each chapter had a personal story in Victoria’s life, an example from the Bible, and then thoughts on how you can implement it in your life. Each chapter ended in “Exceptional Thoughts” which were highlights from the chapter that you can use as a list to think about implementing in your own life. An example exceptional thought is “When opportunities come my way, I won’t let my fear of failure or my insecurities or my lack of experiences drown out the yes God put in my heart. I will stay connected to Christ, my power source, and walk through the doors of opportunity He opens for me.”

I was surprisingly laid off from my job in March. I had been recruited by the company a year before, and had just received a performance raise in January. I was busy at work and didn’t see it coming. Overall my section of the company was down in numbers so they let me go very abruptly. I was feeling very down on myself, but reading this boast helped me to think positively about myself. It was a great book for this trying time in my life.

Favorite Quotes:
“Reaching new levels isn’t always easy. Sometimes God will use people, new experiences, and even uncharted territory to nudge us out of our comfort zone.”

Honestly, I bookmarked about every page of this book, there were so many good inspirational quotes. I’m not going to type them all here – I suggest reading this one yourself!

Overall, Exceptional You! is a book that helps you to take a good look at yourself and how you can put your best foot forward using your faith as a guide.

Exceptional You! by Pastor Victoria Osteen is an outstanding book, filled with hope, encouragement, and practical wisdom. I found it captivating, easy to read, and hard to put down. Victoria writes in a casual style that is easy to follow along with and understand. I could almost hear her speaking the words to me as I worked my way through the chapters.

I love the way she takes everyday life examples and uses them to demonstrate deeper spiritual truths that empower the reader to move forward into the identity God has called them to walk in. I found many parts of the book to be transparent and revealing into the person and character of the author. It’s almost as if she becomes a trusted friend within the pages.

The book is divided into 7 core principles, and each principle has 2 main points (chapters) that she discusses and teaches from in greater detail. At the end of each chapter, she includes powerful “Exceptional You Thoughts” that the reader can use daily to influence their journey into the exceptional.

I have been using the “Exceptional You Thoughts” regularly and see them as seeds of truth that are being planted in my spirit. When I speak them out each day, it is as if those seeds are being watered by my audible voice, and change is beginning to happen. The seeds are breaking through and showing evidence of transformation in my spirit.

There are so many solid truths in this book that it is difficult to pick just one to share, but I think I most enjoyed the acorn story and the red umbrella story … they teach powerful principles that speak to me personally. The acorn is just a small thing—but when nurtured, cultivated and cared for, it produces a great big oak tree that has an expansive reach (or influence) that increases over time. And that red umbrella on the beach—it reminds us to check in with God on a regular basis so that we can stay in alignment with him and not veer too far off course.

I can’t say enough about this book. I love it. It is transformational, powerful, life-giving, and empowering. I think everyone should get a copy for yourself and a friend. Read it and share it with others. It’s that good.

I’ve read a number of books by Joel and Victoria Osteen, so I was excited to read Victoria’s latest. I’m always encouraged by them, and this one didn’t disappoint.

Exceptional You focuses on how we see ourselves versus how we should see ourselves: through God’s eyes. To Him, we are anything but ordinary. We’re exceptional and a masterpiece, expertly gifted by Him.

The book is written so you feel that you’re chatting with a friend, sharing stories and encouraging one another. The book is organized into seven sections:

• Know That You Are Chosen
• Lift Up Your Eyes
• Keep Your Memory Box Full
• Travel Light
• Love Well
• Live in the Now
• Power Up

Each chapter ends with bullet points (“Exceptional Thoughts”) highlighting key items from the chapter. Personal stories, Biblical examples, and Scripture verses are woven throughout. Overall, it provides the reader with a lot of food for thought. I have numerous notes that I’ll return to when I need a dose of encouragement, as there are so many solid nuggets of truths in this book, many of which remind the reader that words have power.

Here are a few of my favorite quotes:

• “Where you’re going is much more important than where you’ve been.”
• “You cannot undo your past, but you can do something about your present.”
• “Don’t let your own voice of doubt drown out the voice of God.”
• “Take your worry list and make it your prayer list.”
• “You have something to offer that no one else can give.”
• “The happiest people are those who appreciate the blessings in their lives and don’t underestimate their value.”
• “Life is fragile. Find reasons to be grateful. They are always there is you look for them.”

Years ago, while perusing the ever popular Pinterest, I came across a gift idea that really stuck with me. It was a series of envelopes entitled “Open me when [insert circumstance/emotion]” and in it contained a letter, a small gift, etc. that would encourage, inspire, and/or empower the recipient. .
.
This gift idea is exactly what popped into mind while reading Victoria Osteen’s latest book “Exceptional You!”
.
.
Each page is written with the intention of encouraging you, inspiring you, and empowering you to live the exceptional life you were created to live. .
.
In her book, @victoriaosteen explains how the word encourage comes from the Old French words encoragier, which means to strengthen (p.68). Through the use of stories, scripture, and self-declaring statements, you will find yourself strengthened. Strengthened to dream again, believe again, and embrace whatever season you find yourself in-knowing and being reminded that the exceptional you is within you right here, right now. You don’t need anyone else’s permission to be exceptional. The invite is here and the choice is yours. Will you R.S.V.P. today?

This book is your personal “open me* when _______” gift.
Open me* when you need encouragement.
Open me* when you need a dose of inspiration.
Open me* when you need to be reminded of how much you are loved, treasured, and cared about.
Open me* when you need to refresh your perspective.
Open me* when you’ve had a great day.
Open me* when you’ve had a not so great day.
Open me* when you are ready to be Exceptional You.

'Exceptional You!’ should be on your reading list for 2019! This book will help you build the self-confidence and boldness to live your most exceptional life!
I love that Victoria shares 7 practical keys to live the best life you are destined to live now. She shows you in simple ways to apply these keys to your everyday life. I believe if we intentionally use them daily, we are destined to succeed!

My favorite things about this book were that it reminded me that I am God’s child and I am royalty. That I was uniquely chosen by the almighty God. That we all have a crown and the we should wear it proudly because we are sons and daughters of a king. ‘Exceptional You!’ gives you great advice in a chapter 6 (Encourage Yourself), sometimes in life we must encourage ourselves and that’s OK because when we can do that with God by our side, the sky is the limit!! Victoria shows you great ways to do that every day with her Exceptional Thoughts at the end of each chapter! These by far are my favorite part! They are daily positive thoughts to shift your mind from negative to positive!

If you are looking for the right tools to kick start your best year and you want more boldness and confidence this is the book for you! 'Exceptional You!' Will encourage you to embrace your purpose and empower you to face anything!

Encouraging and inspiring are two words that describe this book perfectly. This is the first book I’ve read by Victoria Osteen, although I have heard her speak and admire the Osteen family’s ministry.

Exceptional You reveals how we can see ourselves through God’s eyes, rather than our own. We are each one of God’s masterpieces and He sees us as much more than ordinary. He knows our strengths, talents, and gifts, and wants us to use them to the best of our abilities.

I love Victoria’s positive, conversational tone. She presents 7 ways we can live exceptionally, in practical and authentic ways. The book is neatly organized with two chapters devoted to each of the seven sections. A bonus segment at the end of each chapter titled, Exceptional Thoughts, is one of my favorite features. These segments provide bullet point ideas on how to apply what is stressed in the chapter.

Firmly rooted in biblical principles, Exceptional You serves as an encourager—a cheerleader of sorts—empowering us to live an intentional and exceptional life.

This is one of my favorite books by far! It was so encouraging, inspiring, and refreshing to read. It changed my perspective of how I see life and how I see myself. Every time I read a new chapter in this book, it felt like God was speaking directly to me through these pages! He is definitely using Pastor Victoria's words to change people's lives for the best! There is so much encouragement and truth in this book and I pray that every person who reads it knows how much they are loved by God! I enjoyed every single part of this book, but I'd have to say chapter 3, "Set Your Eyes On The Promises" (in Section II: "Lift Up Your Eyes") is my favorite. Pastor Victoria speaks about taking your eyes off of the problem and putting your focus on GOD - He will take care of everything and get you to where you need to go. Beautiful days are coming!

I recommend this book to everyone that wants to become a better person, love their life a little more, and see themselves the way God sees them. If you read this, you'll be SO glad you did! Have a blessed day!!

As a Christian I have a great deal of respect for the Osteen Ministries and have found them to provide great spiritual teaching and comfort over the years. This new book by Victoria Osteen shows us how to be exceptional, how to believe in God's plan and provides Biblical teachings that both uplift our spirits and are sensible for applying to our everyday lives. I appreciate the positive message that we are valued and matter to God. Even a non believer can gain wisdom from this book. I love that I feel uplifted and valued as I read her books and recognize how I can be a better and wiser Christian through believing in myself and the work God does in me. This is a must read for all Christians and a great book to refer to often for Biblical knowledge. This would make a wonderful gift for your Christian family and friends. This is a book I highly recommend for all Christians and those seeking the word of God .

I didn't really know what to expect from Victoria in regards to her book. My son received her set of children's books a few years ago and absolutely loved them. With the things I was going through, fears and bad memories that were plaguing me, and challenges that kept piling up, I was excited to see her book pop up, just out of mere curiosity.

Just in reading the first chapter and focusing on implementing the end-of-chapter items..I felt like I was coming out of the funk I was in. There are some big things that I wasn't bold enough to strive for, but after reading her book and replaying those words in my mind- I know can make some exceptional things happen.

The book is written in a comfortable, informal format. It's like reading a conversation, and it has a good flow to it.I thought that it would be a "women's" book, but it is suitable for men, women, teens- literally anyone that is open to being inspired and as the book says "fixing their crown". Great read, I recommend it.

From the moment I picked up this book, I knew I was in for a treat! The beautiful photo on the front exudes joy.

Victoria Osteen gives a fresh perspective on how to deal with issues that we all face at various times. She uses stories from the Bible and her own personal stories to portray her message of perseverance through her encouragement. Her warmth with which she writes really draws you in and makes you feel as if you are having a conversation with a dear friend.

This book flows so well and is therefore easy to read. I stayed engaged the entire time; finding myself smiling with delight as well as my eyes filling with tears at the heartfelt love and life lessons that she shares.

I highly recommend this book for anyone needing some thought-provoking, practical advice that they can apply and for all of us who need to be reminded how valuable and precious we are to the Lord.

While I have heard of Joel Osteen, this is the first book I ever came across by his wife. I found her very open, personal way of writing and sharing her own experiences to be very helpful. The book is filled with good advice and encouraging words to live in a way that fully trusts God. He wants His children to have hope and a future.

Of the seven ways she suggests to live encouraged, empowered and intentional, I found the idea that we sabotage ourselves when our thoughts are full of self-putdowns to be something that really needs to change in my life. I do this, and I am sure others do to. The thought that we are self-prophesying things that aren’t good for us was an eye-opener.

This book is one I will highly recommend. I also noticed that there is a study guide on the market to go along with the book.

If you’re looking to feel empowered to walk in your purpose in a bold way, this book is for you!

Victoria unpacks 7 practical and easy ways for you to live your most exceptional life and be the exceptional YOU that God made you to be.

My biggest takeaway was her love well chapter! When we are going through challenges loving others can seem impossible but the reward is SO great. I feel encouraged to push through my challenges and to extend love to all despite my circumstances.

I am so thankful for the wisdom in this book. I promise you will not be disappointed and will walk away with a new sense of purpose and encouragement.

Victoria’s book is absolutely amazing and it is hard to put down! Her words are inspiring and motivating and to be honest exactly what I needed right now. I have been sharing highlights of each chapter with my husband and my mother along the way. I loved, “If we could do it by ourselves, it wouldn’t take faith. And God has amazing things in store for you.” And I appreciated learning about fighting the undercurrents.

It is a MUST read and I am ready for her next book already. I am thinking of who in my life would love their very own copy. It is going to make for an excellent gift! I would highly encourage you to order your copy of Exceptional You today!

This book helps us to know that we are God's children and we are all loved. We need to learn and remember that Life is not about the finish line but about the journey. Staying positive, being optimistic, looking at all our options and ensuring to take the route in which we will succeed. We all have the ability to define our own success. Do your best as your best is always good enough.

An inspirational book with numerous examples and Bible references. The example that stays with me is the woman who took a delivery to another woman who appeared bogged down looking after four children. That was not how the first woman saw her life own becoming. However, she later learned that this woman went to become a writer and speaker.
