Two bumbling criminals attempt attempt to steal a car, but end up unknowingly causing two different people, a private detective and a ruthless mobster, to chase them in search of a murder they did not commit. Jack Marker, the private detective, tries to find the husband of a trophy wife, and ends up chasing the two criminals while also hallucinating in a drug infused delirium state. The comical and absurd story describes a world in which criminals view those with 'normal' jobs as living a dangerous life, more dangerous than their own criminal underworld.

Lucas Schmidt was born in Wichita, Kansas and lived there for two years. He then grew up in the hill country of San Antonio, Texas. When he was in high school, he started writing short stories and eventually novels. After graduating from Texas State University, he worked for a nonprofit and e-learning company as a copyeditor and copywriter while he continued to write books under his real name, Lucas Schmidt, and pen names. He currently writes full-time and lives just outside of Austin, Texas.
