I couldn't stop reading this book, which is terrible because it's not a short book at all. I can confidently say that besides sleeping I was pretty much reading this book continuously for 4 days straight. Driving? Working? Text to speech, baby, it can be done!

I literally couldn't read this book fast enough. My eyes kept moving faster across the page before my brain could catch up. I actually had an urge to EAT the book just to get the whole thing in my head somehow. It's like having your favorite comfort foods for breakfast, lunch, AND dinner, each better than the last. That's how much this book delighted me. All the music descriptions also got me super itchy to listen to some epic music while reading, but it doesn't work with text to speech simultaneously, which pained me during work.

So why the love? Fang Zhao isn't the most scintillating of MCs, personality-wise. He's very staid. Extremely so. Yet I love him, adore him, which surprised me actually. He's just a really decent person, a good grandpa. The few moments where he loses his composure are lovely. To the outside world, he seems to change little the whole time, but his inner world is rich and does develop. He grieved, he vented, he went from holding the past in his entire being to still remembering it in his heart but jumping wholeheartedly into the future that he wanted, not incidentally but purposefully. He actively made it happen, slowly but surely.

The side characters are freaking amazing, a colorful and distinctive bunch, and h i l a r i o u s. I laughed out loud every other minute. Special mention for Curly Hair, the cutest, silliest dog ever. What a star he is!

The plot focus jumped all over the place, and yet I ate it up, all of it. Makes perfect sense to me. The classic faceslapping was done so well and in such good nature that it never irritated. There was little of the mean, small-minded spirit usually featured. It was extremely satisfying and refreshing to read instead. There is a huge number of books that feature an OP protagonist, but how many of them bring joy the whole time? This book treads where they have not, at least for me. It gave me nothing but a happy, cozy feeling for the entire book. What a wonderful work! I have and will re-read this title many times.

Thank you so much to the translator for a spectacular job!!

What a long journey. It took me about 5 days to finish this book.😁

This web novel has 500+ chapters, per chapter is about 2 pages worth, so more or less 1000 pages? I didn't realized it was sooo long BUT worth it.👍

This is the story of Fang Zhao. This is a reincarnation, sci-fi and fantasy themed book. So Fang Zhao died during an apocalyptic war and reincarnated after 500 years. This is his journey as he try to leave his mark on history and enjoy the things he was unable to do on his previous life.

World building alone is already 5 star worthy for me. I don't usually like over powered mcs but this one amazingly worked for me.

This one has lots of clichés, face slappings and comedic undertone to it which are common on web novels. I totally enjoyed reading this.❤ I lost a lot of sleep trying to finish this.😅

I love that it has composing, gaming, acting and military themes on it. Our mc is very versatile.😂

A very enjoyable read recommended for fans of web novels.👍❤

I love this book and have read it 3 times. It's likely that I'll be reading it again as a pick-me-up to destress from work. Would love to have an actual physical book (english) though :D

Book Review: Superstars of Tomorrow

Good morning beautiful people. I’m back again with another book review. I just finished reading ‘Superstars of Tomorrow’ authored by Lazy Cliché. Its genre spans from action, comedy, fantasy, mature, sci-fi, and slice of life.

The synopsis is as follows; Well-known Composer Fang Zhao was in the most glorious stage of his career when the Apocalypse arrived; After finally experiencing the bitter difficulties of a thousand dangers, when the Apocalypse was simmering down to an end, he collapsed; When he opened his eyes, he was reborn in a New World, 500 years after the end of the apocalypse, in the body of a student who had been dumped barely after graduation, who had been cheated of his hard work barely after he started working…

Armed with the experience of living through an apocalyptic age and his profession as a composer before that period, Fang Zhao uses his talent, wits, and knowledge to make his mark in the entertainment industry of the future.

This novel is simply amazing. The main character is pretty cool. The main character, Fang Zhao, is very laid back but still pulls out the OP protagonist card beautifully. It’s also more of a laidback read because this novel does not have too many surprises. I love the immersive and descriptive approach of the author when it comes to world-building. It’s like I’m transported into this captivating futuristic world. I do get confused sometimes when it involves musical jargon and knowledge, given that I have no musical background. But, still, I was able to tide through those chapters pretty well.

I also love the NO ROMANCE approach of the author. It gives you the meaning of life, the peace in being single, the beauty in living alone, the joy of travelling to look for inspiration immersing in your thoughts and feelings, writing them into musical scores and words.
The downside of this novel though is the abrupt ending. I strongly feel that the author should write a better ending for Fang Zhao and Curly Hair. The start is so solid that I feel like there’s still room for a better ending. It doesn’t feel right to just leave Curly Hair as a pet that Fang Zhao had to take care of. There’s more untapped potential for both the MC and Curly Hair. But, I still love this novel, anyways. It’s worth it. I hope that you’ll give this a try too.

A story about a man from apocalyptic age reborn a few hundred years later in the same world. He is reborn in a music composer's body. He used to be a music composer who had to use weapons to fight monsters when the apocalypse started. So in these relatively peaceful times he gets the chance to use his music talent again. The story is fun and the MC is not over the top or arrogant like most CN novels. It has everything from spaceships, talking dog to paparazzi and terrorists. There is plenty of action and so far no romance at all. A fun read on a slow day. Only drawback is the update speed. The author lazy cliche really lives up to his name. The translation team is forced to slow down their updates from 10chp/week to 1chp/week or sometimes even worse, 1 chp every 2 weeks because the author isn't releasing much chapters. I've stopped reading during last year's October due to the slow update but when i'm back to have a look as of 17/4/2020, there's barely any improvements on the release frequency. Only 30+ chapters during the past 6/7 months, and the story is just getting started. At this rate, I think it'll take at least a few more years for the story to conclude. Overall, it's a very high quality story and definitely worth a read, but you'll need to have all the patience to wait for the releases.

It's a sci-fi that got me excited right off the bat.

It is both serious and with elements of comedy, I couldn't help laughing at some moments.
Without realising it, I reached the latest updates and had to persevere through the wait while the novel was being completely translated.

Pacing is much faster than Chronicles of Primordial Wars and a very different world, but it gives off a similar feeling.

Chinese novels can be very wordy/lengthy and sometimes you get bored midway through but this is very engaging. I think it could have developed further.

Overall, I just like the works of this author.

honestly, this is my first ever scifi novel that got me hooked on reading more scifi novel in the first place lol. The story is about Fan Zhao who got reborn from an apocalyptic world to 500 years into the future. His only goal is to create more musics, but the story progress further as he explore the world of military, acting, producing movies, reality show, games, etc. And yep he's op af... but that what makes it even more fun to read! Reading how even the bosses respect him so much for bringing large amount of money every time, everywhere, and everything he does is too satisfying.

God I cried so many times throughout this novel. All the hardship he went through in his first life shown through all the peace and happiness he gains in his second life hits so hard. The author is amazing at pulling together multiple long plot lines in such a fresh and satisfying manner while always keeping Fang Zhao's character steady. Multiple different world-builing plots make everything seem so real and alive. The ending is mildly rushed but this story hits so hard across the board.

Surprisingly engaging for an OP transmigration novel! A lot of variety for our protagonist (there's the initial arc, a gaming arc, a military arc, etc.) and the side characters were fun. The ending was a bit meh -- I lost a lot of steam after chapter 420ish -- but overall a good read.

Better than IRAS. The main character also acts his actual age despite becoming younger. It is rather unique for the protagonist to be grandfatherly rather than the usual arrogant reckless 'grandmasters'.

This would easily be a 3.5-4 star book if it wasn’t for the overly wordy custom in chinese web novels. Even despite that, this book is extraordinary. It starts rather lackluster and the “filler” sometimes goes on for too long, but the actual content is really great. The best parts are unfortunately only hints towards a wider more supernatural/mystery or action oriented plot (as an addition to the main theme, not a substitution). If these hints never really play out my rating would go down to 2 stars.

At one point the story arcs seemed to start to become interconnected and the pace of the story really picked up. The many side characters had purpose and interacted together to build something great. If this continued, I feel that the author would have written a 5 star web novel. Unfortunately, once the acting arc began, these interconnected pieces became less meaningful and/or fell apart.

Incomplete: Chapter 449

Reread:

Contrary to what I felt previously the supernatural elements are the least interesting now. I really loved the aimless 'filler' content, the celebrity progression, and the emphasis on positivity in this book. I'm disappointed that this was incomplete so close to the end, but I'm glad I finally got a chance to finish it.

For the filler, what I already read previously wasn't annoying. However, once I caught up, some of the random plot threads were difficult to enjoy. Perhaps knowing exactly how they start and end helped me to enjoy them despite them detracting from the overall plot.
