9/10. Spoilers ahead. I was not expecting anything like this. I am not sure what I was expecting, sure, but either way, the whole book was fenomenal. Whenever I thought the story was going in a certain direction, it changed with one simple twist. Just training his body, bam, a coup happened. Running away from the country, pum, magic encountered. Studying in a noble school, sent to Ramsoda. Whenever I thought Angele was going to settle, he gained different ambitions. When I thought he was not going to have enough time to acomplish his goals, he gained abigger life span. I thought the wizards only had the ability to become rank 2 wizards at best, then the cental continent change everything. Many other things changed drastically. I am still surprised with Henn suddenly deciding to go. I seriously thought at some point that the end of the book would be a fight between Henn/Angele and the other wizard, Ooh how wrong I was!, but I digress
TWW is a roller coaster of emotions. It is a pletora of genres. It is a soup of ingredients one would never try to mix together but it somehow is delicious. The timeskips were annoying at times, but since the story would not have anything interesting happening in that time and the sense of time I have is not the same for Angele, it was maybe for the best.
The ending, even though I felt it rushed, was quite appropriate. The two main things I didn’t like were the sexual innuendos and scenes, specially with underaged (sometimes very young) people, and the lack of permanent involvement of other characters in the stories. In the context of people with power, I guess the wizards do tend to become quite lascivious and aggressive. And to be fair, Angele pretty much became celibate until almost the end of the novel. The lack of permanent characters was quite depressing sometimes. Whenever you got a special connection with a character, they died or were in another country never to be seen again. Again, I understand why this is the case. Whenever Angele felt lonely or sad, I could relate. I knew I would never see them again as Angele often said.
Many parts I didn’t understand either due to my lack of imagining fantastic images, the translation or my lack of vocabulary (since spanish is my mother tongue and the translation was in english and sometimes a little bit wrong).
I certainly felt many emotions. I felt happy, sad, scared, excited, disgusted and calm. I sometimes got a little bit bored, but with how long the story is, it is really a compliment. I truly recommend this novel but I know not everyone will like it.
