There's an ancient saying in Great Ruins, ‘Don’t go outside when it’s dark.’ In Great Ruins, the old, weak and disabled elders of Disabled Elderly Village picked up an infant by the riverside and named him Qin Mu, raising him up with blood and sweat. This day, as the night descended and the darkness shrouded Great Ruins, Qin Mu left home... Become a villain undulating in the spring breeze! That's what Blind told him. This is the rise of Qin Mu's road to becoming a villain!
Chapter 802/1100? I really liked this, enough to sink 60 hours into it anyway. (These chapters are unusually long) This is xianxia with light comedy, great world building, and unique and interesting side characters. It has the same feeling as A Will Eternal, but in ToHG there is more world improvement and more interesting side characters (though it's been a while since I read AWE).
Characters: 4/5 I really liked them This has light comedy, and each side character, whether enemy or friend, has a funny quirk. The mount, Fatty Dragon, loves to eat and is rather pitiful, the disabled elders are all funny.
World: 4/5 Top notch There are many varied settings, and each of them is frequently visited and keeps the relevant side characters. This is done much better than other xianxia where the mc just gets transported somewhere else and has to build up new relationships with everyone around them. This was very enjoyable, letting the story continue in more and better settings. The entire world is tied together with a very obviously pre-planned backstory that is complex and mysterious. This is much better than many other novels, where in chapter 200 after the author realizes that this is making him money, he shoehorns in 33 more heavens for the mc to defeat.
Story: 3/5 I liked it It was nice and engaging. I've set it down because I've gotten tired of reading in general, and not because I have any complaint with this book. The mc is interesting and goes to interesting places. There are multiple plot points that keep the reader engaged, from the mc beating people up, saving others, creating trouble for everyone, shamelessly recruiting for his sect, and us finding out about the state of the world and its past.
This novel is written really well, but most of the interesting bits are just bait to keep reading. I’m over 100 chapters in and there isn’t any plot. This feels like a 4 star book/5 star web novel but nothing is happening. I’m dropping this until it is completely translated at the very least.
Website : qidian china Views : 7.93 million Rating : 8.3(1253) Chapters : 472 Status : ongoing Word count: 1.40 million Rank : 7 Right now it's really popular in qidian.
I can't believe I read like 2000 chapters of this before realizing it's literally the same plot recycled every 200-400 chapters but with different characters.
95% of the book is technical descriptions of fights. Not much of an idea. If you enjoy Chinese epic TV serials, you'll likely enjoy this book as well:)
