I liked the writing and liked the basic premise of the story. What I didn't like was the sense that the hero has taken over the heroine's entire life. Luke is the golden boy who apparently can do no wrong. He comes from a well off family, is good looking, smart, and is a crusader. He goes off to India/Asia and reports on environmental disasters, corporate bad guys, etc. Della is his sister's friend. She grew up in a semi abusive, disadvantaged home and his family took her in and apparently even looked into adoption (even though she was already 14 when the girls became friends). She now has no family (her parents have died) is understandably concerned about making money, affording her house payments, etc. She has had a crush on Luke since they were teens. He's been out of the country working, marries someone in India, has a whole life and Della meanwhile is not really dating, working too hard, and been ill which causes her to become infertile. When Luke comes back home, he is getting a divorce and is planning to work for an international charity locally. Della is dealing with horrible clients but hoping to get a promotion. He writes an expose of her client, she gets fired from her job, and he can't figure out why she's upset? Yes, the client is really horrible, but he didn't say anything to her about the story he was writing before it got published. Then he decides to apologize by going out and basically buying her a new garden. So, he's a crusader, but he has no trouble throwing his family's money around and seems to say that because she has to work to pay her bills that she's compromised herself. It's not clear what dear old dad did to make so much money, but I guess it didn't pollute. So the big conflict is of course around having children. He wants a family (in fact that's why he and his wife broke up), since she's infertile she pushes him away. After the reconciliation they decide to adopt, but it is the child he'd already wanted to adopt. So she ends up working at his dream job (they are running the charity) and having his dream family. She's been subsumed into his life.

Was good going...author took us through over 3/4 through the book building the passion and then literally right smack dab in the middle of the love scene left you hanging out to dry. Very disappointing!
Friends-to-lovers romance complicated slightly by the fact that the heroine is working for the polluting industrialist that the hero writes articles against.
I am reading its translation into Arabic, the cover picture gives a different attitude from within, or maybe because it is a translation and the company wants an Arabic country overspread
