A lovely explanation of the 5 elements: Water, Wood Fire, Earth, Metal. A nice look at what happens during an acupuncture session if you are seeing someone doing 5 element acupuncture, not TCM.
Not only is Dianne one of my favorite people on Earth, but she is also my aunt. I have had this book in my possession for most of my life. When I became an acupuncturist 26 years ago, it became my bible. It is easy to reference, and it allows my patients to better understand their treatments.
The first book on this subject that really made sense to me. The language is beautiful and clear, and the chapters are set up in an organized way. She uses imagery to explain the 5 types of chi flow, which works well for me since I'm so image-oriented myself. It's also a very thin volume - easy to get through quickly and feel like you've gotten a good explanation of the concepts. Very satisfying.
was her doctoral thesis from study with worsley, i believe- a thoughtful and interesting little book and i think, a good place to start if you are interested in acupuncture but do not want the meridian theory yet....
