HUH
Well
This sucks.

Let me tell you why.

1. there is no communication between the main characters. NONE. A ten year misunderstanding could have been solved in one conversation!
2. Rape/Sexual abuse. the main girl initiates sex with main guy when he's drunk. The main guy sexually abuses and rapes the main girl when he gets jealous. The main guy is always grabbing at the main girl to stop her from doing something.
3. Everyone is stupid. Please for goodness sake just SPEAK!

BEWARE of SPOILER

The drama adaptation ended on a low note from me. The webnovel was a bit better. If only it's not 973 chapters long. It's a rinse and repeat theme full of misunderstanding. I don't know where I got the energy to preserver such a long and annoying story. My advice, watch the drama except for the last episode. For that, just endure the few chapters of the webnovel. Or, there's a forum dedicated in spoiling this story. Just go there and lessen your misery.

"It’s the story about two people, very pretty Qiao Anhao and the most handsome guy of the nation, Lu Jinnian, who fell in love with each other on a rainy afternoon in their school days. However, they never got to confess about their feelings to each other. They chase each other in school and in professional world (both are in entertainment industry), never letting their true feelings out.

Through a series of misunderstandings and circumstances, Qiao Anhao gets married to Lu Jinnian but they keep thinking that the other person has a third party in their hearts. The story follows both of them, their families and friends and how finally, they get to realize that they are made for each other."

p/s: It's in quote because the synopsis is not from me.

p/p/s: The drama's name is Pretty Man which you can find on Youtube if it's still there. Sorry, the comment section is not working for me at the moment.

Updated 13th May 2020: There's a webcomic for this novel. The artwork was amazing. So, check that out. But, it's not free read. The drama Pretty Man Season 1 that ended on a low note from me was followed with Season 2 with a different actress. And I like Season 2 more because the actress look like she's the same age with the actor.

I really enjoyed this one but it can be sooooooo frustrating. There are just too many miscommunication and misunderstanding between the two leads. Love the drawing for this comic. The female lead is beautifully drawn.

NO, just no. This is not a sweet love story. He raped her a few times, she also raped him once. It does not matter that they loved each other, it was still rape.

Emotional roller coaster. It touched me so much. I have never read such an emotional book 😭 But there were a couple of abusive scenes in the book that I didn't like. It was my first book of author Ye Fei Ye and after this I read all of her other books and enjoyed them too.

**Warning: this text may contain spoilers** Generic Asian romance. Entertaining but at the same time I found certain parts, like the casual sexual abuse disturbing.

One of the most painful webcomics I’ve read in Mangatoon. It has an amateur storyline but really promising and worth reading.

My one sentence review for this would be.... "All's well that ends well". Yes, because this way too much twisted love story. So much that it will make reader wander whether the main couple are going to be together or not. But thankfully, they do😇

Romance wise this is so beautiful as when the odds are against them, their love still blooms at the fullest with the seed of true love 💘❤.

I love the loyalty and undying love of both the characters towards each other. And wonder how?? As there's no trust between them but they love each other unconditionally 😅😅 I think this what they calls true fiction.

It do made me cry like a baby and I am so satisfied with the whole story. 🤩🤩

This was a really cheerful, heart-warming read even to someone who don't like romance at all.

* I read the webtoon version of this novel which was available on Webcomics App but now it is not. Idk why...? Maybe Webcomics gave up the copyright license or what. But it was available 🥲🥲

I read this book on novelfull and it was the best long few days of my life! Ye Fei Ye did an amazing job keeping me hooked since the beginning all the way to the end! Just when you think it is safe- something else happens. I absolutely loved the chemistry between the Qiao Anhao & Lu Jinnian, as well as Qioa Anxia & Cheng Yang and also between Xu Jiamu & Song Xiangsi.
Their love story was very moving, I laughed, I cried, I swooned... If I could give it more than 5 stars I would!

Why did I read 970+ chapters? I don't know. Temporary insanity, maybe?

Why does this have a 3.9 star rating on Goodreads? Don't people actually know what a healthy relationship should look like? A very concerning problem.

This is the most unrealistic and meaningless book I have ever read. (This coming from me, a fantasy fiction superfan, means something)

Casual rape? Yes.
Domestic abuse? Yes.
No Chemistry? Yes.
Zero communication? Yes.
Plotholes? Yes. Yes. Yes.

Anything nice to offer? Nope.
Page turner? Unfortunately yes.

This book has also been made into a comic book and a tv series. HOW?! And more importantly, WHY???? Has the standard fallen that low?

This book makes me so frustrated because the main characters always don't communicate, which results in miscommunication. All the problems would have been solved by chapter 1 and not by the end of the book lol but the only reason I kept reading on is just to see when will the miscommunication finally be resolved.

I forgot I dropped this a long time ago. It depicts themes I never liked (e.g., rape, abuse, violence, patriarchy, lack of consent, and overdramatic BS). I don't understand the number of writers and readers enjoying this trope but, I will rate this down, and the rest of the books I'll encounter with similar content because these repetitive themes need to stop.

I just finished reading the comic version on the Webnovel app and plan to read the translated novel sometime in the future. There's a couple synopses floating around and one of them is totally misleading as to what this story is about, but I think it's also the more popular one to grab people's attention.

Overall, I enjoyed the story. It definitely has its plotholes and to me, the whole story is driven by one simple thing: lack of communication or miscommunication, which can be extremely frustrating for some readers. There were a couple incidences that I really wish were done differently, especially in the first half of the story because it didn't seem to fit the male character's personality/core self and they made me uncomfortable as a female.

The comic version's artwork is very beautiful and helped to keep me engaged in the story. I'd say it was one of the reasons I kept reading. (Plus I really just wanted to know what was going to happen!) I'm looking forward to reading the novel version because I'm anticipating more descriptions and inner thoughts, but I will miss seeing the characters drawn out as well...

The comic was well-paced and I just couldn't stop reading! The fact that I've only gotten 2-3 hours of sleep the last couple nights from binge-reading and not being able to stop attests to that haha.

This is actually my second time reading a manhua and I still asked myself why it took me this long to read a second one lol.

In normal circumstances, I could have hate this story because it's one big MISUNDERSTANDING, well, make it into a bold one. But I dunno, I never once thought of ditching it even if it meant ditching a complete 8 hours sleep. The drawings were just so beautiful. I don't I really can't say what I really like about this story, I just love it alright hahaha.

I love it but why just 4 stars? Well, a lot of things I hated in a story is in here, except the amnesia thing (thank goodness), so I guess it was because of that hahaha.

That ending is just so sweet after that whole rollercoaster of misunderstanding ride.

It was painful. The EQ levels of the main and secondary characters are too unbelievably low. The entire premise of the storyline is based on repetitive failures to communicate by more than one couple. The first 600 chapters were painful with the main characters being clueless. Ditto for the last 300 chapters with the second and third couples.

SA is more common than water face slapping in a Korean drama. Too many “abuse is my love language” chapters. The author made abuse a feature for the overbearing CEO characters. Totally unnecessary and repulsive. 3/5 is generous.

I had read this few months ago and now rating here (actually I didn't know webtoons review are here on goodreads ,just got to know ) . This comic was really emotional that i wanted to read all chapters very fast so I could see the happy ending. So i completed it in one week (that were alot of heart breaking moments that i was thinking my heart will come out of my body).
But was really nice reading :)

I don't know but I loved it....
Main leads loved each other for 13 years and everything they've done in their life is only for each other sake without knowing they love each other... People may think they're obsessive and hate them but in my opinion they are one of the best..... And kinda mature as well... Love the ending.. Although sometimes I thought why the hell is there so much misunderstanding... But life is all about misunderstanding I guess... I finally again I loved it.. Thanks author

This book was so frustrating and angering to read for the whole first half. I read the first few chapters on the webnovels app, then found the whole thing on a website that didn’t make me read it a tiny bit at a time. Overall I ended up enjoying the book, but only gave 3 stars as it is frustrating throughout.

And this is the first ever novel that got me into Chinese novels. And my list went on and on. . .

As much as this is somehow. . .well a little unpredictable, there are so many times that I wanted to stop reading but Idk I finished it. Beware as there are just too many antagonists in here. The best part should be the second pair's story. . .at the end. They broke my heart into pieces.

Yep, I just had to reread this and be put into a rollercoaster of emotions once again. This was one of the very first webcomics I've ever read and it has given me the same feelings it did. Loved the story flow, and basically got me reminiscing my high school days when I read more stories from this type of plot. Would have to go through my other faves this year!

I wanted to like it more than I did but the fact that the sexual abuse and domestic violence were constantly glazed over in the story was not okay. I didn't like the weak, pushover personality of the lead female in the story.

I feel like this story is just a strong reflection of misogynistic Chinese culture where they find this type of behavior acceptable. I suppose in that sense, the story was rather authentic, esp when playing through how social media works, esp in Mainland China.

Stories like these with the ridiculously rich, handsome men glorify and romanticize abusive relationships and creates unrealistic standards for partners.

This was basically like reading through the script of the of a C-drama or K-drama. So it was very entertaining but not Nobel prize winning literature.

I never knew that a romantic story can keep at an edge till the end, even better than a crime novel. But the translation has to improve a lot. Love the story
