Alison is back to share summer with James.

The problem is that James' lawyer says that they are going to fight his effort to adopt her.

James has to pull in his natural proclivity to punch something until it gives in with the government.

Unfortunately for the government, James' friends have his back.

The Drow Queen makes an unexpected appearance, fighting James in the courtroom.

If James is able to adopt Alison, will he leave everyone else alone?

For Alison, she thought this was going to be an easy summer, but she had no idea what James wanted her to learn. Once she does, will she still want James as her father?

NOTE: This book contains cursing. Perhaps humorous cursing, but cursing nevertheless. If this offends you, I don't suggest reading this book.

Just when you thought it get any better!

Michael you rascal you used some of your hodu to mind meld with me. With each of the previous 8 books (and Shay/Alison) I had high hopes that this time would come soon.
Great way to get Alison into the family business.
She has chance to more of what is like to have loving dad & mom (oops aunt Shay)

Can't wait for Shay to have all the girls with her (Alison Lily and Izzie) what kind of antics those teens could get up to with Mom (oops Shay)

Thanks for a great series. Your books make my day at work go by so fast . Listen to a book or to the audible version. IT'S great to work in walking refrigerator I listen my books and before you know it 10 hours have flown by.

Thank You

A more enjoyable read than the previous book and it was nice to have more of Alison back in the story.
It will be interesting to see where the story goes now that the ‘Drow’ are no longer the big threat.

kindle unlimited, the JIT {just in time/arc readers} evidently don't check for spelling, grammar, clarity, nor continuity, as there were isses with all of that causing rereading different parts to figure out what sentences even meant, and the books continue to be the 'split' timeline and/or viewpoint from different ones or even the connected series ones, and rarely make sense because of having already read them what has, now, become totally out of order, and once again the blurb is typo-ed, poorly constructed, and off the mark as far as what the actual story is about, so bad it's the first time have given less than 4 or 5 to any of the Browstone, so tired of the Indiana Jones 'huge build up that goes nowhere, just shoot the bad guy' bull, it's called 'jumping the shark' and never works for tv or book

I'd been determined to make this ninth book of the Brownstone series my final, and 318th, book of 2023.

Unfortunately, the New Year celebrations put a kibosh on that so, instead, it's the first book I've finished in 2024!

Happy New Year, folks!

As for this book, I really enjoyed it. It was wonderful to see just how many people that James had helped, doing what they could, to make him look like the good father material which, of course, he is!

But, in the end, his deeds spoke for themselves, and Alison made it crystal clear that she'd not accept anyone else as a Father!

The whole book was riveting, but I have to confess that the ending was perfect - I'll not tell you why, but I'll just encourage you all to read the whole series, however you possibly can, as it's worth it!

This made a perfect start to the second ARC of the Brownstones' stories and, although it's now silly o'clock in the morning, I looked at my reading list, and realised the next book to read is book three of Alison Brownstone's Series, School of Necessary Magic, 'Wary is Her Love' .

I'm going to be good, and set
my Kindle ready with this book, for me to start reading it later on today and, once I've done that, I'll catch you on the flip side, and let you all know what I think!

Must read - enough said o_O

Another great read. I love the perfect mix of the brownstone family and the other great characters created in this world. Funny, action packed with a kickass love for BBQ. I mean every time I finish ready one of the books from TUBMB I'm always hungry for BBQ. if there is anything to critique about the books it's that they are to darn! Short!! The chapters are to short, I want more book!! I read it in on afternoon. (Non stop that Is.. it's just that good) and now I'm counting down until my next instalment (*eye roll* Fix) please make them longer chapters or a longer book. I'm always said when I seek a specific chapter coming up that I know signals my book is about to end :( as a smart lad once said "please sir, can I have some more?" ;]

And extraordinarily awesome Siri’s

And extraordinarily awesome series with a great cast of characters. Approximate 20 years in the future give or take magic has returned to our world. The role now has enhanced threats people with magic others beings from another world that is magic that I’ve come to earth as well. There is a bounty Hunter that deals with enhanced threats. James brown stone. He takes care of all the really bad bounties out there. In a world we’re magic people and humans live together. And action-packed urban fantasy thrill ride. One of a multiple group of Series all in the same magical world with occasional crossover characters and intertwined stories. You will not be disappointed check it out

I love, love, LOVE Brownstone!

The first chapter cracked me right up! Talk about laughing out loud. Michael sure has an amazing way with words. (Hhmmm... I wonder if his wife will be reading this book???)

The things in this book are just priceless! If you are going to read it, then be prepared to do a lot of laughing. If you've found this book first, then you really need to go back to Feared by Hell and work your way through to best appreciate the humour and the action.

Michael has truly outdone himself with this one, which is saying something! I'm hanging out for book #10 like a child waits for Christmas...

Dramatic without the over-the-top action is a nice change of pace, though there is still a little action in there. Mostly the drama is seen through the lens of a family in the making. James Brownstone gets a chance to see what people think and who is willing to stand by his side.

Not a ton of POV changes, but the ones that are done are done well and at the right times. It is interesting to get to see through the lens of Alison for a change. She is definitely a character worth following on her own.

Overall, one of the best of this series. While not the most action-packed, the one with the most heart thus far. I would highly recommend giving this a read when you have the chance.

If you're a fan of James Brownstone you won't want to miss this story. While it's not the typical action-packed, all go no brake beat down that Brownstone is known for, it is packed full of laughs like sardines in a barrel. Michael has done a wonderful job of relating a tale which is sure to inspire anger in any father's, or prospective father's, heart as implacable foes strive to block the one thing Brownstone wants... to be Allison's dad. Someone should have told the politicians of the US Senate about Brownstone

Brownstone Family Summer

Alison, James, and Shay get together in a family tribulation. Why does the government want to block James from adopting Alison? James finds that many people he did not expect, have his back. Alison can't avoid the training for life that James and Shay put her through. Even teenage whining doesn't work, especially with Shay. I like the three series, and particularly like this mashup of the series. I like the action, humor, and story line. The book kept me enthralled to the end. I anxiously await the next book.

damn good read

Loved the story, the growth of Alison, the furtherance of making a family, the use of everyone's skills, the change of direction for Lt. Hall and Tyler, the overthrow of the Drow queen, etc.
I just enjoy these books, and Michael's style, snarkiness, and wit obviously appeal to me, since I'm still trying to keep up with virtually everything he's had a hand in since first finding the BA/Kurtherian to read (and I still have some of the offshoots i haven't even looked at yet. Thankfully Amazon helps with identifying the books I've already read.

Really enjoyed

I've read 9 books in the Mr Brownstown series, and have really enjoyed every one. There is great action, characters are complicated, but not so much as to stop the rhythm of the kick ass ask questions later, Mr James m***********g Brownstown. I would recommend this series of books to any age group. I think there is something in these books for any age to enjoy. Mr. Anderle has done a fantastic job. So far, I haven't read anything by Anderle or a collaboration with another author, that I haven't fully enjoyed.

Oh this one was the best so far!

I loved all the drama surrounding the adoption. The evil Drow queen just made everything even better. And of course, little Alison wanted James to adopt her. We know James couldn't just let the Drow queen sit around plotting a way to take Alison to Oriceran, under rule. He didn't, but it is not how you might think. Now Alison is hoping that Shay and James will marry, so Shay would be her mom. I hope so too. They make a very loving, if unusual, family.

The best and funniest book yet.

Brownstone commiserates with Tyler in the Black Sun bar and a whole lot of criminals and non-criminals over the fact that women are a mystery to all males no matter who they are. Alison starts training with Shay and learns that magic isn't always the correct tool for situations. Brownstone discovers that he is more well known than even he imagined. Can't wait until next book comes out.

Fantastic and amazing

Watching Allison grow in this book was amazing. Typical teenage grumbling to realizing what is best for herself was fun!

Watching poor Brownstone have to sit through all the gate without being able to take matters into his own hands was hard but we'll worth sitting through as his associates come forth every single one to have his back when he needs the most help was almost read inducing.

Just an amazing read.

Alison has a new group of bad guys after her, the US government!

A greedy US senator agrees to help the Drow Queen use the US court system to keep Brownstone from adopting Alison. Bad idea, VERY bad idea! A very different take on a Brownstone story. But, a good one. Read this story and the rest of the Brownstone books, you WILL be glad did! (And, there's even mud wrestling and barbeque for desert in this story. What more could you ask for?!)

Finally Summer Vacation!

It feels like I have been waiting for this book forever....in MA time lines...maybe 6 months and 35 other books. It is wonderful to see this urban family not only grow in number but also in strength and character arcs. Now that vacay is over when can we plan a Brownstone wedding?

Brownstone with no beat down?

I was wondering if I was reading the wrong book until the end! Alison got to shine and show she will be an exciting character even after the school series. Brownstone got to show he’s more than just an alien ass kicker, he’s a good dad. My big question is when is Shay going to reveal her elf?

Awesome

As usual Brownstone and family blend together to make might and magic work. James eternal question about who he is and what he is speaks to the eternal questions we all ask ourselves, an I a good person? Sinners are what we are, but is that not why Jesus saved us all? James gives hope to all who aren't perfect or traditionally good that good has many definitions.

More strategy, less brute force

Brownstone is growing into a family man, and an organization. He is also, almost accidentally, building a network of support that also supports itself. They and he are becoming a growing force for good.
At the end of the day he is also a growing raw force.

Such a good series of books!

These books really do just get better and better! Shay shows a "softer" side which is really nice to see. And the battle of Alison 's adoption being played out in and out of the courts becomes tense. Above all it is nice to see Brownstone feeling and acting like a true dad.

Summer Vacay!

Allison is home for summer .... vacation? A vacation to most kids turns into Brownstone boot camp. Not only her father, but also her favorite Aunt and the entire Brownstone agency get involved in helping Allison become more independent, if she likes it or not. The adoption hits some snags and James finds out he has a lot of friends, some are quite unexpected!

This book was a critical point for Brownstone, Alison and Shay.
The book was all about adoption which is actually useful, I was so nervous even knowing how it would turn out. I read this in about 2 hours, you can burn through these books easily.
Alison's becoming very powerful and we finally have Alison meet Laena.
It was more enjoyable then the previous 2 books.

As always, this was fantastic! I love this series and this book was great but different. No bounties and very little of the usual action until the end and then it was no holds barred!

Wait for it...

Having read through most of the KU books, and all of the Brownstone assorted spinoffs, it was fascinating to see so many various threads coalesce into a kickass multi-point of view tapestry that highlights rather than competes against itself.
