Starting a new job - or a new life - is never easy.
Tina White, the new resident witch in Western Woods, is just starting to settle into a routine when it's all blown right to bits. Sara, her roommate, has finally gotten a job. But when her new boss literally dies on her, Sara is petrified that she's not only going to lose her job, but that she's going to end up in jail.
Promising Sara that they're not going to let that happen, Tina joins her other roommates in working to clear Sara's name. But between trying to solve the murder, working with Amy to figure out what coven she's from and organizing a party to try and get different species of paranormals interacting with each other, Tina's definitely juggling a lot.
Can she keep all the balls in the air before everything comes crashing down on her?
Two Peas in a Potion is the second book in the Western Woods mystery series of full-length, humerous paranormal cozy mystery novels.
Samantha Silver lives in British Columbia, Canada, along with her husband and seventeen-year-old dog named Terra.
When she's not writing cozy mysteries, Samantha loves travelling (she's most recently been to Egypt, Jordan and Florida) skiing, eating Dairy Queen, and complaining about how hard running is.
They had just recovered from the last adventure with one of her roomies getting a new job. This however seemed to be in jeopardy now. Her latest client, to use her broom taxi service, has ended up dead - whilst she was flying him to his next appointment! Worried that her new job would now be at task the girls decide to investigate the elf lawyer's death. Who had the means to kill him? Why do it now, just as he had sold of his shares in the partnership and decided to retire? The more they find out the more suspects they uncover and the more she finds the society segregation restrictive. Can she do anything about it? A decent plot. Okay the actual sleuthing wasn't terrific but the characters stories as they unfolded carried this.
These little mysteries are addicting. At least this book didn't have any identity crises. Everyone's name stayed the same. ;) Again, there isn't really any suspense. The mystery is the primary plot. Although, the other bits are so much fun to read!
I am so glad I happened across them. By the way, the series is available through the Kindle Lending Library for Prime members.
It's in the details. The story is pleasant enough to read. The characters have a lot of room for growth, but some one is missing the details and my brain is screaming. Sara hands Tina the spoon twice. Tina never puts something important back where she found it. In the first book, she never quit her job or told her landlord she was moving out. These are just a few of the ones that stick in my brain. There are more. It may not bother some of you, but it bothers me. I could see myself liking these books if she'd just get an editor.
The town is still talking about the last murder in Western Woods, while Tina is settling in to her new life as a witch with her new friends. Thanks, in part, to their help in solving the previous mystery Sara has found herself a new job as a driver for the law firm in town. She’s the fastest on a broom around and her talent has finally paid off with a good job she can be proud of… right up until her client, a lawyer, slumps over dead on the back of her broom – and another mystery to be solved is presented to our witches.
I had fun with Two Peas in a Potion. We learn more about the town and its residents. Tina comes up with a way to get the different species to interact with each other… keeping everyone separate is just silly and so many opportunities are lost because of it. And we get to watch these witch friends solve another murder mystery. What’s not to enjoy about that? If you love Cozy Paranormal Mystery stories then you need to check out the Western Woods Mystery series. Interesting cases, a wide variety of paranormals to get to know and just a good time well spent.
I read this title through my Kindle Unlimited subscription.
Tow Peas in a Potion is the second book in the new Western Woods Mystery series.
Tina is new to the paranormal world, only recently finding out that she is a witch and moving to Western Woods. There are just some things that bother her about the paranormal world, the most important being that certain jobs and tasks are reserved for certain types of paranormals, and the fact that each type tends to stay to themselves. She is determined to do what she can to change it, but first, her roommate Sara is in trouble.
Sara is an amazing flyer, and finally found a job ferrying lawyers to appointments, but this morning her first fare has dropped dead. To make matters worse it was a popular elf, who are basically immortal so to have one drop dead is big news.
Tina and her roommates, Sara, Ellie and Amy end up investigating and trying to clear Sara's name.
This is a cute new series on witchcraft that is different than most of the stories on the market. The segregation in the paranormal world is something that is unusual for the books, and the isolation from the human world is another.
Tina's continuing to live and learn about her witchy powers in Western Woods. Her friends are splitting the teaching role between them although broomstick flying lessons are temporarily suspended as Sara finally has a job working at the law office transporting elves to meetings and delivering time crucial documents.
Unfortunately on Sara's first day it all goes wrong when Loromir dies as Sara is transporting him. A whole new case is underway as Tina rallies the rest of her housemates to help Sara clear her name.
It's solved a little too conveniently but it is still entertaining as Tina tries to get the paranormal world to mingle and not be so rigid with their rules about which species can do which job.
When Sara is found at the scene of a murder, Tina and her friends get together to try and prove her innocence. Tina is getting on well in the magical lands, learning how to use her magic, and making friends with other paranormals. An enjoyable series, with an interesting alternate reality, and magical beings around every corner. Recommended for paranormal cozy mystery lovers.
But every book I read is the same witch just finds her magic or happens go stumble upon a dead body and then solves the mystery every single book. No matter the author. The only changes are how they die and the setting, like an island, on a ship, in a different plain, in the south, the west coast ECT. With so many good authors can't you come up with an original idea?
Loving this new series! Book two is just as good as the first one. I love that Tina has no idea about being a witch so the “paranormal” society rules just seem alien to her so she wants to change that. Looking forward to eventually finding out why she was adopted and what coven she is from! Now I’m off to read book 3 🙂
Book 2 picks up nicely where the first left off. I liked there was no big time jump. This story is nicely paced with an adequate amount of intrigue. The story offers a spin on something the real world deals with every day. Relationships between cultures.
I look forward to seeing how much Tina’s magical skills progress.
Another cute and entertaining installment in the series. The mystery was well-done and I was satisfied with the reveal. Tina had to use some of her magic at the end as well, showing her growth. I continue to like her friends, and they are all distinct enough to know who's speaking when. I'm interested to know where the storyline with bringing all the different paranormal races together will go.
And extremely entertaining which is cozy mystery series. Great cast of characters a fun and entertaining cozy mystery in every book. Follow long as our new which learns magic find trouble and then find her way out of it. A very entertaining and funny story
Tina decides she can change the world! Her new world of paranormal Western Woods at any rate and in between trying to clear her roommate as a murder suspect. Another fun entry in the series with great characters, an interesting mystery and a teeny bit of a romantic spark.
My opinion hasn't changed from the first book. I believe this series is meant for young/teenagers. Good characters and plot. Although, pretty much the same as the first book. Will finish out the series because that's what I do.
The characters are really starting to develop and Samantha's spin on the murder mystery supernatural genre is fresh and really enjoyable. I'd highly recommend it.
Characters are getting a little more believable, but still seem too black or white, good or evil. The level of knowledge of the human world is in sharp contrast to knowledge of human culture.
I love the characters in this series. They are lovable and the author does an outstanding job geiving each of the their own personality. The stories just flow, before you know it you are done. Great Reading Everyone!
When an elf dies on the back of Sara's broom, while she is transporting him across town, she is on the suspect list. Tina, Amy, and Ellie try to help clear Sara's name.
I really enjoyed seeing Tina growing more confident with magic as well as seeing how the four friends help each other out. I like Kyran . He and Tina have the human world in common. Looking forward to seeing whatever comes next. Great series.
Western Woods Mysteries is a very well written series that will keep you interested the whole series though. I can't wait until I can read the next book.
Great storylines and characters. I really enjoy Samantha Silver different storylines and characters in her different series. Always interesting and worth the read.
I think I like this book the witch was smart absolved the murder. I also like her familiar he pretty cute and smart i hope she is she to change the town
A great cozy paranormal mystery. Tina is still trying to figure out what kind of witch she is. There is another murder in town and she helps solve the murder.
Is it enough that it’s always been done this way, who made that decision anyway? Is it even important, you decide. In the midst of all this mystery and intrigue you will find the town in somewhat of an uproar. You should find this well written story and enjoyable read and a nice comfy cozy mystery.
