When magic wreaks havoc in Whitby, it makes Lyra the most desirable wolf in the country. As if she didn’t have enough to deal with running her pub Moonlight Inn, pretending she doesn’t love her alpha Casimir, and dealing with the other two members of her pack: quiet and mysterious Jack and total pain in the ass Gray, Lyra’s best friend.
Now wolves are coming far and wide to claim her as their mate, and they won’t take no for an answer. The only way to fight them off? Claim her own mates before they get their claws into her.
Mated is the first book in a new reverse harem urban fantasy romance series. Expect sexy scenes, supernatural dangers, and tender romance. Welcome to the Moonlight.
Leigh Kelsey is the author of romance and reverse harem books for anyone with a soft spot for steely women and the tortured men who love them. No matter what stories she's writing - vampires or shifters or bad boys - they all share a common thread of love, heart, and action. She is the author of the Lili Kazana series, the Moonlight Inn series, the Dead Space stand alone, and the Blacktower Prison for Supernaturals series, plus many more books.
I wanted to like this book and gave it more time than I usually would with one that didn’t catch my interest immediately. However, there were just so many things wrong with the story from the beginning. A 4 wolf pack with only one female, yet until she was “in-season” the guys didn’t really seem to notice her. A rogue wolf shows up wanting to claim Lyra and one of the guys comes to her defense while she cowers. I feel like I just expected more from a female werewolf, especially one that is in a pack with all guys. I couldn’t finish this book and that really bummed me out.
I was able to read this whole series in one swoop. I absolutely love this series. It was something I was not expecting but I do enjoy where it went. There still seems to be more left to resolve but I did enjoy how this group finally comes together. Though more things happen along the way. There is more to the story than you would expect.
To be truthful, I gave up at 66%. I am not a fan of how the story plays out, or how stupid the characters are.
When we start Mated, the emotions, if you want to call them emotions, are (mostly) already there. I read romance for the romance. The love and emotions are what drive me to flip to the next page. In Mated, I don't see anyone falling in love.
Lyra is having physical attraction to Cas, the alpha. Cas says he feels the pull of her being his mate. Cas is an idiot. Instead of marking territory the normal way, by scratching the area and scent marking, he bleeds, which makes no sense for two reasons. One: blood means wounded means easy target. Okay, so it's a fantasy and not necessarily meant to be realistic, but it still makes sense. Two: if trespassers were to come across him as he was about to pass out from his marking, how would he defend his territory? It's not like he tells anyone what he's doing. Lyra just happens to find him about to pass out.
Gray is confusing. He sucks up to Lyra one minute with food because he doesn't want her mad at him, but turns around and talks like an ass. I don't understand him, and this is 66% through.
Jack is a sweetheart that fawns over Lyra, but he's afraid of rejection, I think. He's insecure. The thing is, Lyra doesn't think of him in a romantic way until Cas presents her with an option to take all three of them as mates. Then she thinks, "yeah sure," and then he's all of a sudden hot? Noooo....
Their interactions are not something I can appreciate.
So if emotions aren't what you need to get through, I won't say to pass this up. The plot is interesting.

Let me start by saying that my opinion changed quite a bit now that I finished the book and if someone someone would have asked me what I thought at even 2/3 of my reading it, I probably wouldn’t have recommended it.
Don’t get me wrong, it’s not that bad at first - it kept me interested enough to continue reading and I’m quite picky - but it wasn’t more than “good enough”. Now, why do I say that? There were a few grammar issues, a few phrases that were weird and a little bit difficult to understand (that may be because I am not a native English speaker and generally having read more books in US English that UK English 🤷♀️) but nothing too disruptive. The thing that bordered me the most and why it didn’t went past “good enough” for a big part of the book is that I felt like both the characters and some of the events were not detailed enough or not focused on as much as it should have for the picture to be complete and more importantly, to feel real.
Having said all that, by the time I got to the last page, I was completely engrossed in the story, it is 3 in the morning and I am contemplating starting the next one and skipping sleep completely 😜
The story is good and has a lot of potential. I’m really hoping the next books in the series keep improving.
On the surface, the FMC seems tough, but simply having a smart mouth does not a bad ass make.
In reality she's a very human-like werewolf. She cowers from danger, acts more like a damsel in distress and needs constant comforting and validation from the men. She's got snark but that's about it.
The men are just okay. We don't get much about them to be honest, particularly Jack, who one minute she has no interest in and the next they're full on into each other as mates.
Also, friends to lovers or "instant mates" is fine but readers do still expect to see the development of the relationship between the lovers in the story. This novel had none of that. One minute they were pack brothers and sister, the next they were mates. It felt like the story was over before it had even begun.
I plan to read book 2 to see where this is going. Hopefully the character development and plot will improve some.
This is a great start to the series, a paranormal reverse harem with a feisty female lead character and a refreshingly additive story which I had trouble putting down to sleep as I made the mistake of beginning the book after work. Well written, the characters well developed with amazingly strong chemistry, the storyline is engaging, filled with action, mystery, intrigue, friendship, sexy hot scenes and a few twists and turns followed by the cliffhanger ending. I cannot wait to find out what happens next and I am looking forward to reading more books by Leigh Kelsey.

Okay so.. I have a lot of mixed feelings about this book. The FMC started off bad ass and then as soon as sges mated her entire personality changes. Also we dont really meet the guys before shes mates them, like we do but only briefly so it's weird. And the problem of other shifters sniffing her out seems more like an inconvenience, why did they have to mate and it doesnt fix anything. In fact the longest they go in between visits is before their mated! This story seems lost to me, I'm hoping maybe theres more in the sequel to add to the plot otherwise theres just not alot here.
Apparently this is set in the same world as the Vampire Games series, but I have not read that series. This series starts with a church exploding causing some kind of release of magic which affects Lyra and seems to be drawing lone wolves to her. Her 3 packmates propose a solution. I liked Lyra - she is fierce. I love that her relationships with each of the guys are different. A lot of their attraction is based on their history together, so they have already established relationships. I am curious to see where this series is going and what the deal is with the new powers that were unleashed.
I enjoyed the storyline and characters. Lyra is part of a small pack and some strange events occur which push them to become mates as well. Danger surrounds them.
I like that while Lyra told the majority of the story, you also got the story from the point of view of other characters. It helped me understand and connect to them easier.
The book ends with a cliffhanger and there are more books in the series.
I really liked this book. The plot line is intriguing especially after the revelations near the end of it. The relationship between the FMC and her mates had already been established so it it seem too quick for them to mate, it was more of a natural progression of the relationship between the, rather than anything else. I can’t wait to read the next book after the appearance of the new character at the end.
This book just hit the spot. I’d been looking for a werewolf romance and this was like the elevated version of that. It has a good burn to it but also a lot of story. I feel like there is still so much to learn about these characters and I can’t wait. And the twist and turns really keep you wrapped up in the story. I can’t wait to continue the series.

Mated is a sexy RH shifter romance with an intriguing story. There are good twists and turns. Characters have personalities that are interesting and distinct. This is a quick and easy read. Lyra, the FMC, is a strong character in personality and actions. THis is an enjoyable read and I am very excited to continue the story into the next book. I am voluntarily leaving an unbiased, honest review.
This is a book about werewolves living in a town full of paranormals. They run the bar. This is Lyra and her packmates story. It tells of their bonding and the danger that threatens them. It is part of a series of books telling the story. You can read this as a stand alone. I thought the characters were very good. I enjoyed the story and would recommend it.

This was the first book of a serial I plan to read as soon as they come out! It's kind of hard to accurately rate a story that's just a few chapters, but I liked the characters, and how it started off. Even gets a bit steamy by the end! Looking for more world building, and backstory in future installments. Will definitely keep following!!
Wow what a way to start a series. Lyra surrounded by her friends and pack. She lives with three men all hot and Lyra is so in trouble.. she has come into season and along with an incident her scent is now scattered all over the place. She must make a choice.. can she make the right one who will she choose....loved this book. So off to read the next one.
I received Mated: Moonlight Inn, book 1, from the author/publisher (via BookFunnel). The gifting did not determine the review/rating, which reflects my honest opinion. A good short story (possibly a prequel?) but not a lot of background or detailed explanation to sustain a series. Good characters and I enjoyed the plot.
A quick read full of adventure, mystery, and steam!
I had never read anything by this author but thought this series sounded good. I'm glad I tried it bc it was full of adventure, mystery, and steam in a quick read kind of way! Now I know that the vampire books come before, I'm going to read them next, before finishing this series! I will be back to it!
This was terribly written and painful to read. The grammar issues alone were enough to make me cringe. Then add in an ill-planned story line? Awful. I honestly felt I started at the middle of a story with how the book begins and then things progress at an unconvincing rate...and it’s super short too.
I will not be finishing the series due to how terrible this was.
This was quite an easy book to read and was a page turner. The story line was quite gritty and the characters matched; they were all believable and likable. The plot was well developed through the story and I cannot wait for the next in the series. Really enjoyable and I would recommend.

A good start to this series. The story will hold your attention till the end. It took me a bit slow for me in the beginning but I stuck with it and held my attention. The characters were great and have great chemistry. Looking to see what the next book will be like
Great story, romance without too much heat, lots of mystery and exciting from start to finish would have liked to finish the entire story but will have to wait and read the next book
Very quick read from beginning to end. You won’t know it till you read the end. It sucks you right through the story. The FMC is strong, but has her weak moments which makes it more believable. I do would like to see more of her spunk than the crippling fear she lets take her under every time.
I really enjoyed the characters in this book, as well as the length of the chapters. Perfect for reading on breaks at work. I recommend for mature readers due to scenes of intimacy and some language.

The mc is rough around the edges. The story pick up after the end of another series the author wrote. I liked the story but didn't feel fully invested in the series. I don't think I will continue it right now.
I think compatibility is important, and didn't feel the chemistry, also I like the plot, but... It wasn't the execution of the idea that I thought it would be or like... So....
3.5 stars- had to round up. Its not a bad storyline, it just ended weird. It gives off The Order (Netflix) vibes and especially the Lyra and Lillith characters. I think the next instalment will be soon, but after I finish some others first.
Her sudden attraction to the other men in her group just didn't ring true. I understood her feelings for the alpha but not for the other two. It just seemed too convenient.
