It is absolutely necessary to read before this one, Jacob's War, written in 2012, which is the first book of this series, otherwise you will not understand anything.
I really liked this book despite some imperfections that I would develop later.
This is a sequel, so ATF agent Allison Jacob, that we find in the previous book, is led to follow burning and delicate files. A new recruit, Tag Becket seems to have feelings for AJ's second-in-command, Grace Fields. All these operations are not without danger, and all of them risk their lives to bring justice back to life.
Okay the story is run smoothly, and the suspense pretty well preserved. We find here characters from the previous book, hence the interest of reading the previous one.
The cover of the first book is, in my opinion much better.
Now this book is of course a good book, but I expected much better for the romance between Tag and Grace as the synopsis, disappointed by that, we believe that ... but no ....
And as usual, I don't know if this is recurrent with Bold Stokes Books, but the end is again too fast, and it looks like the author thought there was not enough Tag and Grace. And boom we rush that in the end. It becomes bored those book ends that seem to catch up with what has not been done before.
Allison, who was already the main character in Jacob's War, is also here. The synopsis talks about the interest of Tag for Grace, but then, for me, it stays in the background and I find it damaging. I would have much appreciated, a background of Allison in favor of the romance between Tag and Grace. It bothered me a lot. Beta and editors of BSB do something... Please.
In short, a good read, but read the first. I recommend buying this book without any reservations.
