El manga comienza en el siglo XXVI, en una tierra devastada que prácticamente sirve de basurero para la gente de salem, una ciudad flotante donde los privilegiados emigraron, y narra la historia de gally, una cyborg (o más bien su cabeza) que aparece en un desarmadero sin memoria hasta que la reconstruye ido, un científico idealista pero pragmático que le da un nuevo cuerpo. A gally se le complica un poco su nueva vida cuando descubre que ido es también un cazarrecompenzas (de algún lado hay que juntar pa' los repuestos) y decide hacerlo ella también, ya que -aún amnésica- mantiene intactos sus reflejos y memoria muscular y es una desaforada luchadora. Al tiempo que hace amigos y enemigos, que querrán llevarla a la ciudad del cielo o descuartizarla según el caso, gally va descubriendo cómo funciona el mundo y cuál será su lugar en el mismo. O en otro.

Between alita's execution and her remake as the angel of tiphares is a ten year period, i learn that this volume! i am not sure if it was mentioned last volume and i forgot or something.
What is the secret of tiphares that made doctor ido erase his own memory?
I hope alita kills desty nova.
I also hope that we tie all loose ends in the next and last volume.
We learn that Tiphares is so formidable they don't even need alita to beat the barjack, they beat them themselves easily, they were never in danger from the barjack cannon, they made 10 more efficient copies of alita, its just a no contest at this point.

After two disappointing (but not too much) volumes, emotions and thrills abound in another top-score one with Alita battling against herself and the return of lots of the best characters in the saga (some just for a lone but intense image).
And the long waited meeting of the Battle Angel with her father figure Ido is not going to be the one you was expecting for.
Just wait and see.

The penultimate volume in the original manga series. Continues to be a bit disjointed and trippy, in that 80s manga way, but the plot is finally pulling together some loose threads and building towards a conclusion, while continuing to portray characters rather weirdly compared to their previous behavior.
Zalem has created a bunch of robot copies of Alita, with AI brains uploaded with all her fighting skills. The first one kicks Alita's ass, and she is shocked and dismayed to learn that Zalem always considered her expendable and replaceable. (Really, Al?) Missing an arm and a leg, she presses on, seeking Desty Nova, who has already begun experimenting on his hapless son, Kaos.
Meanwhile, Den has built his ginormous train cannon that will fire a ginormous artillery shell at Zalem. It never occurred to our genius revolutionary that Zalem might have defenses prepared against the eventuality of a bunch of grounddwellers pointing a big gun at them.
Alita has a psychic ki battle with the cyberghost of her old frenemy, Jasugun.
It's all kind of weird and still alternately cute, gory, and touching, the author still drops characters and plot lines whenever he doesn't know what to do with them, but next volume is the finale. Whee!

There's so much going on in this volume, and all of it is so damn good! Alita finally tracks down Ido, and comes face to face with Desty Nova. Her handlers on Tiphares reveal their true colors. The war between the Barjack and Tiphares comes to a conclusive head. And it's all told in the framework of a beautifully action-packed tragedy. Hopes are dashed, backs are stabbed, deals are brokered, and lives are saved--or lost, depending. This story arc is building to one hell of a climax.
Yes, some of the exposition is a bit heavy, particularly toward the beginning, but it's almost necessary in order to get to the truly ground-shaking developments later on. After a somewhat lacking volume seven, Battle Angel Alita is back in full stride as it races toward the final volume--at least, until things pick up again in Last Order. But that's a review for another time.

This review covers Volumes 1 to 9.
I decided to dive into the manga after watching Alita: Battle Angel, as the movie’s premise showed a lot of promise. The manga is definitely action-packed, but the art style isn’t really my thing. I wanted to like it, but it feels unpolished, and the pacing and execution just didn’t work for me. I struggled to stay grounded in the story, and a lot of my questions went unanswered. We barely scratch the surface of the world and its characters, and some things just don’t make much sense.
Sadly, I don’t think I’ll be continuing with the series.

Δεν ξεκίνησα τον όγδοο τόμο του Battle Angel Alita με τα θετικότερα των συναισθημάτων. Μετά τον μέτριο έκτο και τον απογοητευτικό έβδομο τόμο ένιωθα μεγάλη απαισιοδοξία. Όπως όμως έγραψα και στην τελευταία μου κριτική δεν υπήρχε περίπτωση να τα παρατήσω αφού έχω πλησιάσει στην πηγή και θέλω να πιω το νερό της. Και ευτυχώς για μένα είχα αρκετά κίνητρα για να σκύψω και να γευτώ το νεράκι. Αυτά ήταν:
α) η καλή βαθμολογία που έδωσα στο πρώτο μέρος του manga
β) η πεποίθηση μου ότι ο Kishiro είναι καλός σε αυτό που κάνει
γ) η μικρή φλόγα ελπίδας μέσα μου που έλεγε πως θα την ανατρέψει την ιστορία
δ) η ανάγκη μου να μάθω το τέλος της Αλίτα και
ε) η περιέργεια μου για το αν ο mangaka θα δώσει κάποιες απαντήσεις όσον αφορά τη δημιουργία του κόσμου του.
Με όλους αυτούς τους λόγους στη φαρέτρα μου έπιασα το όγδοο μέρος της ιστορίας που έχει ως βασική πρωταγωνίστρια την Αλίτα. Ένα κορίτσι με σώμα από μέταλλο και ψυχή από ατσάλι που αισθάνεται περισσότερο άνθρωπος και από τους ίδιους τους ανθρώπους. Το cyborg αυτό έχει ένα μεγάλο στόχο. Να βρει τον εαυτό της. Να ανακαλύψει τις ρίζες της, και να καταλάβει ποια πραγματικά είναι. Το ταξίδι προς τις απαντήσεις δεν είναι εύκολο. Μέχρι τώρα την έφερε αντιμέτωπη με:
α) τον δυστοπικό κόσμο της Scrapyard
β) το επάγγελμα του κυνηγού κεφαλών
γ) την ουτοπία του Tiphares που καταστρέφει αγάπες και όνειρα
δ) τις πίστες του Motorball
ε) τους σκληρούς αντιπάλους Makaku και Jashugan
ζ) τους επιστήμονες Daisuke Ido και Desty Nova
η) τη μοναξιά, την απομόνωση και τις άδικες κατηγορίες για εγκλήματα που έκαναν άλλοι
θ) την ομάδα πρακτόρων TUNED
ι) την επαναστατική ομάδα Barjack
κ) τον μαχητή αλλά και ονειροπόλο Figure Four
λ) τον πειρατή των ερτζιανών Kaos
Όλα αυτές οι συναντήσεις της προκάλεσαν ανάμεικτα συναισθήματα: χαρά, αισιοδοξία, γέλιο, λύπη, θλίψη, κλάμα, θυμό, συμπόνια, φρίκη, ταλαιπωρία, νευρικότητα, απογοήτευση, πάθος, επιθυμία, λαχτάρα, ελπίδα. Και όλες αυτές οι εμπειρίες την οδήγησαν στην ωριμότητα μυαλού και ψυχής και στο ξεκλείδωμα μέρους του παρελθόντος της. Η Αλίτα στον προτελευταίο αυτό τόμο βρίσκεται σε μια κρίσιμη στιγμή του ταξιδιού της αφού είναι ένα βήμα πριν εκπληρώσει το καθήκον της προς το Tiphares. Πρέπει όμως να βιαστεί αφού η ομάδα Barjack έχει ήδη θέσει σε εφαρμογή το σχέδιο της που περιλαμβάνει την πτώση μιας τυραννίας και την ανάδειξη μιας άλλη. Ο βασιλιάς πέθανε…ζήτω ο βασιλιάς!!
Ο όγδοος τόμος τιτλοφορείται Fallen Angel και δεν μπορώ να μην παραδεχτώ πως ένιωσα έντονο μέσα μου το αίσθημα της περιέργειας διαβάζοντας τον τίτλο. Επειδή όμως έχω καεί στο λάδι και σχεδόν όλες μου οι θεωρίες έχουν πάει στον κουβά δεν το σκέφτηκα παραπάνω. Μέτρησα τις σελίδες του και αφού έκανα μια γρήγορη ανάγνωση στα προκαταρκτικά του ξεκίνησα την ανάγνωση. Για να βρεθώ μπροστά σε συνεχόμενες ανατροπές. Κάθε νέα σελίδα ήταν και μια νέα ανακάλυψη με την εξέλιξη της ιστορίας να πηγαίνει σε μονοπάτια που δεν είχα φανταστεί. Αντιπαθητικοί στα μάτια μου χαρακτήρες έγιναν συμπαθητικοί, άλλοι συνέχισαν να είναι αγαπημένοι μου και άλλοι μου προκάλεσαν από έκπληξη ή αηδία έως και φρίκη. Ο Kishiro είχε μεγάλα κέφια σχεδιάζοντας και γράφοντας τον τόμο αυτό και κατάφερε να φέρει τούμπα όλη την υπόθεση. Στις προηγούμενες κριτικές μιλούσα περιληπτικά για το κάθε κεφάλαιο ξεχωριστά βάζοντας του και βαθμολογία. Εδώ μην περιμένετε να δείτε ξεχωριστή βαθμολογία για το κάθε κεφάλαιο. Και αυτό γιατί όλα παίρνουν ακριβώς τον ίδιο βαθμό: 5/5.

The last broadcast. Fight 1: Promise. Δύο σκηνές έχει το πρώτο κεφάλαιο του τόμου:
Στο Tiphares η Lou ανακαλύπτει πως πλέον δεν είναι μόνη της αφού τα γραφεία της υπηρεσίας έχουν γεμίσει με υπαλλήλους. Παράλληλα μας επιτρέπει να ακούσουμε τις εσωτερικές της σκέψεις και περιληπτικά εξηγεί στο κοινό τί συνέβη μετά το τέλος του προηγούμενου τόμου. Η ομάδα του Den προελαύνει προς τη Scrapyard έχοντας καταλάβει 14 φάρμες με τα εργοστάσια να μην έχουν ενημερώσει τον πληθυσμό της πόλης για τον κίνδυνο που πλησιάζει. Και αυτό γιατί φοβούνται την αναρχία που μπορεί να επικρατήσει και τον κίνδυνο η ουτοπία να πάψει να τροφοδοτείται. Οι κάτοικοι της συνεχίζουν τις ζωές τους χωρίς να έχουν ιδέα για τον Den και τα σχέδια θανάτου του.
2. Αλίτα και Kaos ετοιμάζονται για την τελευταία μετάδοση της πειρατικής εκπομπής του δεύτερου. Πλέον δεν είναι αντίπαλοι ή εχθροί. Ο Kaos έχει καταλάβει τί του συμβαίνει και πως συνδέεται με τον Den. Ξέρει πως για αυτό φταίει ο πατέρας του τον οποίο και έχει αποφασίσει να αντιμετωπίσει καταπρόσωπο. Πριν από αυτό όμως πρέπει να είναι ειλικρινής προς όλους εκείνους που τόσο καιρό τον άκουγαν και τον πίστευαν. Έτσι κάνει μια τελευταία εκπομπή στην οποία παραδέχεται τα λάθη του και ζητά από τον Den να σταματήσει τις επιχειρήσεις. Το χυμένο αίμα δεν πρέπει να ξεπλυθεί ��ε νέο αίμα. Η λύση δεν είναι αυτή. Η λύση έχει το όνομα μιας άλλης λέξης: της ένωσης.
Κάθε σελίδα του κεφαλαίου ήταν και μια νέα ανακάλυψη για μένα. Ένα νέο άνοιγμα του στόματος και πέσιμο του σαγονιού. Δεν περίμενα να μεταφερθούμε λίγες μέρες πιο μπροστά από το φινάλε του έβδομου τόμου και σε καμία περίπτωση δεν ανέμενα η αντιπάθεια μου για τον Kaos να μετατραπεί σε λύπη και συμπάθεια. Για μένα ο Kaos πλησίαζε στην τρέλα τον πατέρα του. Μου ήταν αντιπαθής. Και ξαφνικά μέσα σε λίγες σελίδες ο Kishiro κατάφερε να ανατρέψει τα αρνητικά μου συναισθήματα και να τα κάνει θετικά! Το έχω ξαναπεί και σε άλλη κριτική. Θέλει πραγματικό ταλέντο και μεγάλη εξυπνάδα ένας δημιουργός να καταφέρει κάτι τέτοιο. Δεν είναι ακατόρθωτο αλλά δεν είναι και εύκολο. Και όταν αυτό συμβαίνει και μάλιστα μέσα σε λίγες σελίδες τότε ο θαυμασμός μου για εκείνον μεγαλώνει. Ο Kishiro μου είχε δείξει ότι το έχει με τις ανατροπές στην ιστορία, με τη δημιουργία προβληματισμών και το τεστάρισμα των ορίων της ηθικής. Αλλά δεν περίμενα ανατροπή συναισθημάτων! Αυτό ήταν μεγάλη έκπληξη! Για την οποία τον χειροκροτώ. Έκπληξη επίσης ήταν το μικρό χρονικό άλμα και το ότι ο πόλεμος είναι ένα βήμα πριν ξεκινήσει. Η μεγαλύτερη βέβαια έκπληξη α που ανέβασε την αδρεναλίνη μου στα ύψη ήταν το τέλος του κεφαλαίου και το πίσω μέρος ενός κεφαλιού που τόσο πολύ μου είχε λείψει.
Chasing Kaos. Fight 2: Good-byes. Καθόλη τη διάρκεια του κεφαλαίου είχα βουρκώσει και με δυσκολία συγκρατούσα τα δάκρυα μου. Τα οποία και άφησα να κυλήσουν με το τέλος του. Ο τίτλος του δείχνει και την ιστορία. Δύο αντίο συμβαίνουν εδώ. Το ένα αφορά τον Στο φινάλε η Αλίτα ξεσπά και κλαίει και μαζί της έκλαιγα και εγώ.
Solid State Fight. 3: Evolution. Δεν είχαν καλά καλά στεγνώσει τα δάκρυα και ο εγκέφαλος μου εκτινάχθηκε με τα όσα συμβαίνουν εδώ.
1. Ο Bigot είναι ο δεύτερος πιο μισητός χαρακτήρας. Μετά τον Nova δικαιωματικά του ανήκει η δεύτερη θέση στο βάθρο. Το κάθαρμα.
2.3. Η Lou είναι η καλύτερη εκεί πέρα. Η φιλία της είναι πιο σημαντική από τη δουλειά. Βοήθησε την Αλίτα αλλά τί θα συμβεί τώρα σε εκείνη; Τι θα της κάνει το σκουλήκι ο Bigot;;

The thousands faces of Madness. Fight 4: Revolution. One man show είναι το κεφάλαιο αυτό. Ο μεγάλος κακός εμφανίζεται και δείχνει τις προθέσεις του. Η τρέλα του έχει φτάσει σε τέτοια επίπεδα που δε διστάζει να κακοποιήσει ψυχολογικά τον ίδιο του τον γιο. Έχει ξεπεράσει κάθε όριο ενώ με εκνευρίζει αφάνταστα η λογική «εγώ δεν έκανα τίποτα κακό. Μόνος σου επέλεξες το δρόμο σου και έγινες κακός. Δε φταίω. Εγώ απλώς σου έδειξα το διπλό μονοπάτι και εσύ διάλεξες το δρόμο που θα πάρεις» Τι μας λες; Σοβαρά;; Πολύ ωραία τα έχει τακτοποιήσει στο μυαλό του ώστε να αθωώνει τον εαυτό του για το κακό που προκαλεί. Το ότι εκμεταλλεύονταν και κακοποιούσε ψυχολογικά ψυχές πονεμένες και κατεστραμμένες, το ότι τις έσπρωχνε στα όρια τους πατώντας πάνω στα βάσανα τους, το ότι ζωντανεύει μυαλά που ζητούν μόνο εκδίκηση και τα εξαπολύει σε αθώους όλα αυτά δεν τον κάνουν υπεύθυνο για τους θανάτους αθώων! Αυτός είναι η κινητήριος δύναμη, αυτός είναι που πιέζει και χειραγωγεί. Αυτός βάζει το δαχτυλάκι του και κάνει ότι μπορεί ώστε η κατεστραμμένη ψυχή να πάρει το δρόμο που αυτός θέλει. Καθίκι.
Barjack Chronicles Fight 5: Death Embrace. Η μεγάλη μάχη έφτασε. Tiphares εναντίον Barjack και στη μέση η Scrapyard να κρατά την αναπνοή της. Τυραννία εναντίον τυραννίας. Νικητής ο λιγότερος υπερόπτης και φαντασμένος. Τη μάχη τη βλέπουμε μέσα από την οπτική του
Ouroboros Fight 6: Dream and Steel. Να που ο Kishiro με έκανε να μάθω τη σημασία μιας λέξης που δε γνώριζα και που έχει μάλιστα ελληνικές ρίζες! Ουροβόρος είναι το φίδι που για αρκετούς φιλόσοφους είναι το σύμβολο της καταστροφής και της δημιουργίας το οποίο και καταπίνει την ουρά του. Για τους Αλχημιστές ο κύκλος που δημιουργεί όσο καταπίνει την ουρά του απεικονίζει τον κύκλο του όλου, κάποια στιγμή το φίδι θα φτάσει στο τέλος του κύκλου για να εκτιναχθεί και να ξεκινήσει πάλι από την αρχή. Συμβολίζει ακόμα τον συνειδητό με τον υποσυνείδητο νου. Όλα αυτά τα ενστερνίζεται ο
Ένας ακόμα τόμος μένει για την ολοκλήρωση του Battle Angel Alita. Δεν το πιστεύω ότι είμαι ένα βήμα πριν το φινάλε. Τρέμω για τους αγαπημένους μου χαρακτήρες και εύχομαι οι κακ��ί να λάβουν την τιμωρία που τους αξίζει. Το Fallen Angel είναι για μένα ο καλύτερος τόμος του manga. Έχει ανατροπές σε κάθε του σελίδα, νιώθεις ένταση και την αδρεναλίνη στο αίμα σου ενώ τα συναισθήματα χτυπούν κόκκινο. Ο ένατος τόμος είναι ήδη τοποθετημένος στο κομοδίνο μου. Δεν ξέρω αν θα καταφέρει να με παρασύρει όπως ο όγδοος, δεν ξέρω τι μου επιφυλάσσει και πως θα νιώσω αλλά εμπιστεύομαι τον Kishiro και τις αποφάσεις του. Με έχει πείσει πλέον ότι ξέρει τι κάνει και ότι έχει σχεδιάσει προσεκτικά την ιστορία και τις εξελίξεις σε αυτή.

Μέτρησα τις σελίδες του και αφού έκανα μια γρήγορη ανάγνωση στα προκαταρκτικά του ξεκίνησα την ανάγνωση. Για να βρεθώ μπροστά σε συνεχόμενες ανατροπές. Κάθε νέα σελίδα ήταν και μια νέα ανακάλυψη με την εξέλιξη της ιστορίας να πηγαίνει σε μονοπάτια που δεν είχα φανταστεί. Αντιπαθητικοί στα μάτια μου χαρακτήρες έγιναν συμπαθητικοί, άλλοι συνέχισαν να είναι αγαπημένοι μου και άλλοι μου προκάλεσαν από έκπληξη ή αηδία έως και φρίκη. Ο Kishiro είχε μεγάλα κέφια σχεδιάζοντας και γράφοντας τον τόμο αυτό και κατάφερε να φέρει τούμπα όλη την υπόθεση. Στις προηγούμενες κριτικές μιλούσα περιληπτικά για το κάθε κεφάλαιο ξεχωριστά βάζοντας του και βαθμολογία. Εδώ μην περιμένετε να δείτε ξεχωριστή βαθμολογία για το κάθε κεφάλαιο. Και αυτό γιατί όλα παίρνουν ακριβώς τον ίδιο βαθμό: 5/5.

The last broadcast. Fight 1: Promise. Δύο σκηνές έχει το πρώτο κεφάλαιο του τόμου:
Στο Tiphares η Lou ανακαλύπτει πως πλέον δεν είναι μόνη της αφού τα γραφεία της υπηρεσίας έχουν γεμίσει με υπαλλήλους. Παράλληλα μας επιτρέπει να ακούσουμε τις εσωτερικές της σκέψεις και περιληπτικά εξηγεί στο κοινό τί συνέβη μετά το τέλος του προηγούμενου τόμου. Η ομάδα του Den προελαύνει προς τη Scrapyard έχοντας καταλάβει 14 φάρμες με τα εργοστάσια να μην έχουν ενημερώσει τον πληθυσμό της πόλης για τον κίνδυνο που πλησιάζει. Και αυτό γιατί φοβούνται την αναρχία που μπορεί να επικρατήσει και τον κίνδυνο η ουτοπία να πάψει να τροφοδοτείται. Οι κάτοικοι της συνεχίζουν τις ζωές τους χωρίς να έχουν ιδέα για τον Den και τα σχέδια θανάτου του.
2. Αλίτα και Kaos ετοιμάζονται για την τελευταία μετάδοση της πειρατικής εκπομπής του δεύτερου. Πλέον δεν είναι αντίπαλοι ή εχθροί. Ο Kaos έχει καταλάβει τί του συμβαίνει και πως συνδέεται με τον Den. Ξέρει πως για αυτό φταίει ο πατέρας του τον οποίο και έχει αποφασίσει να αντιμετωπίσει καταπρόσωπο. Πριν από αυτό όμως πρέπει να είναι ειλικρινής προς όλους εκείνους που τόσο καιρό τον άκουγαν και τον πίστευαν. Έτσι κάνει μια τελευταία εκπομπή στην οποία παραδέχεται τα λάθη του και ζητά από τον Den να σταματήσει τις επιχειρήσεις. Το χυμένο αίμα δεν πρέπει να ξεπλυθεί ��ε νέο αίμα. Η λύση δεν είναι αυτή. Η λύση έχει το όνομα μιας άλλης λέξης: της ένωσης.
Κάθε σελίδα του κεφαλαίου ήταν και μια νέα ανακάλυψη για μένα. Ένα νέο άνοιγμα του στόματος και πέσιμο του σαγονιού. Δεν περίμενα να μεταφερθούμε λίγες μέρες πιο μπροστά από το φινάλε του έβδομου τόμου και σε καμία περίπτωση δεν ανέμενα η αντιπάθεια μου για τον Kaos να μετατραπεί σε λύπη και συμπάθεια. Για μένα ο Kaos πλησίαζε στην τρέλα τον πατέρα του. Μου ήταν αντιπαθής. Και ξαφνικά μέσα σε λίγες σελίδες ο Kishiro κατάφερε να ανατρέψει τα αρνητικά μου συναισθήματα και να τα κάνει θετικά! Το έχω ξαναπεί και σε άλλη κριτική. Θέλει πραγματικό ταλέντο και μεγάλη εξυπνάδα ένας δημιουργός να καταφέρει κάτι τέτοιο. Δεν είναι ακατόρθωτο αλλά δεν είναι και εύκολο. Και όταν αυτό συμβαίνει και μάλιστα μέσα σε λίγες σελίδες τότε ο θαυμασμός μου για εκείνον μεγαλώνει. Ο Kishiro μου είχε δείξει ότι το έχει με τις ανατροπές στην ιστορία, με τη δημιουργία προβληματισμών και το τεστάρισμα των ορίων της ηθικής. Αλλά δεν περίμενα ανατροπή συναισθημάτων! Αυτό ήταν μεγάλη έκπληξη! Για την οποία τον χειροκροτώ. Έκπληξη επίσης ήταν το μικρό χρονικό άλμα και το ότι ο πόλεμος είναι ένα βήμα πριν ξεκινήσει. Η μεγαλύτερη βέβαια έκπληξη α που ανέβασε την αδρεναλίνη μου στα ύψη ήταν το τέλος του κεφαλαίου και το πίσω μέρος ενός κεφαλιού που τόσο πολύ μου είχε λείψει.
Chasing Kaos. Fight 2: Good-byes. Καθόλη τη διάρκεια του κεφαλαίου είχα βουρκώσει και με δυσκολία συγκρατούσα τα δάκρυα μου. Τα οποία και άφησα να κυλήσουν με το τέλος του. Ο τίτλος του δείχνει και την ιστορία. Δύο αντίο συμβαίνουν εδώ. Το ένα αφορά τον Στο φινάλε η Αλίτα ξεσπά και κλαίει και μαζί της έκλαιγα και εγώ.
Solid State Fight. 3: Evolution. Δεν είχαν καλά καλά στεγνώσει τα δάκρυα και ο εγκέφαλος μου εκτινάχθηκε με τα όσα συμβαίνουν εδώ.
1. Ο Bigot είναι ο δεύτερος πιο μισητός χαρακτήρας. Μετά τον Nova δικαιωματικά του ανήκει η δεύτερη θέση στο βάθρο. Το κάθαρμα.
2.3. Η Lou είναι η καλύτερη εκεί πέρα. Η φιλία της είναι πιο σημαντική από τη δουλειά. Βοήθησε την Αλίτα αλλά τί θα συμβεί τώρα σε εκείνη; Τι θα της κάνει το σκουλήκι ο Bigot;;

The thousands faces of Madness. Fight 4: Revolution. One man show είναι το κεφάλαιο αυτό. Ο μεγάλος κακός εμφανίζεται και δείχνει τις προθέσεις του. Η τρέλα του έχει φτάσει σε τέτοια επίπεδα που δε διστάζει να κακοποιήσει ψυχολογικά τον ίδιο του τον γιο. Έχει ξεπεράσει κάθε όριο ενώ με εκνευρίζει αφάνταστα η λογική «εγώ δεν έκανα τίποτα κακό. Μόνος σου επέλεξες το δρόμο σου και έγινες κακός. Δε φταίω. Εγώ απλώς σου έδειξα το διπλό μονοπάτι και εσύ διάλεξες το δρόμο που θα πάρεις» Τι μας λες; Σοβαρά;; Πολύ ωραία τα έχει τακτοποιήσει στο μυαλό του ώστε να αθωώνει τον εαυτό του για το κακό που προκαλεί. Το ότι εκμεταλλεύονταν και κακοποιούσε ψυχολογικά ψυχές πονεμένες και κατεστραμμένες, το ότι τις έσπρωχνε στα όρια τους πατώντας πάνω στα βάσανα τους, το ότι ζωντανεύει μυαλά που ζητούν μόνο εκδίκηση και τα εξαπολύει σε αθώους όλα αυτά δεν τον κάνουν υπεύθυνο για τους θανάτους αθώων! Αυτός είναι η κινητήριος δύναμη, αυτός είναι που πιέζει και χειραγωγεί. Αυτός βάζει το δαχτυλάκι του και κάνει ότι μπορεί ώστε η κατεστραμμένη ψυχή να πάρει το δρόμο που αυτός θέλει. Καθίκι.
Barjack Chronicles Fight 5: Death Embrace. Η μεγάλη μάχη έφτασε. Tiphares εναντίον Barjack και στη μέση η Scrapyard να κρατά την αναπνοή της. Τυραννία εναντίον τυραννίας. Νικητής ο λιγότερος υπερόπτης και φαντασμένος. Τη μάχη τη βλέπουμε μέσα από την οπτική του
Ouroboros Fight 6: Dream and Steel. Να που ο Kishiro με έκανε να μάθω τη σημασία μιας λέξης που δε γνώριζα και που έχει μάλιστα ελληνικές ρίζες! Ουροβόρος είναι το φίδι που για αρκετούς φιλόσοφους είναι το σύμβολο της καταστροφής και της δημιουργίας το οποίο και καταπίνει την ουρά του. Για τους Αλχημιστές ο κύκλος που δημιουργεί όσο καταπίνει την ουρά του απεικονίζει τον κύκλο του όλου, κάποια στιγμή το φίδι θα φτάσει στο τέλος του κύκλου για να εκτιναχθεί και να ξεκινήσει πάλι από την αρχή. Συμβολίζει ακόμα τον συνειδητό με τον υποσυνείδητο νου. Όλα αυτά τα ενστερνίζεται ο
Ένας ακόμα τόμος μένει για την ολοκλήρωση του Battle Angel Alita. Δεν το πιστεύω ότι είμαι ένα βήμα πριν το φινάλε. Τρέμω για τους αγαπημένους μου χαρακτήρες και εύχομαι οι κακ��ί να λάβουν την τιμωρία που τους αξίζει. Το Fallen Angel είναι για μένα ο καλύτερος τόμος του manga. Έχει ανατροπές σε κάθε του σελίδα, νιώθεις ένταση και την αδρεναλίνη στο αίμα σου ενώ τα συναισθήματα χτυπούν κόκκινο. Ο ένατος τόμος είναι ήδη τοποθετημένος στο κομοδίνο μου. Δεν ξέρω αν θα καταφέρει να με παρασύρει όπως ο όγδοος, δεν ξέρω τι μου επιφυλάσσει και πως θα νιώσω αλλά εμπιστεύομαι τον Kishiro και τις αποφάσεις του. Με έχει πείσει πλέον ότι ξέρει τι κάνει και ότι έχει σχεδιάσει προσεκτικά την ιστορία και τις εξελίξεις σε αυτή.

La rebelió de Barjack contra la ciutat de Salem arriba a la seua fi en el penúltim volum d’aquesta sèrie d’aventures de ciència ficció ciberpunk post-apocalíptica. Però a Gally encara li quedarà pendent l’enfrontament final contra els seus enemics. Un cop més la lleialtat dels seus amics, la seua capacitat de superació i la seua lluita interna entre la seua naturalesa humana i robòtica, definiran els fets i com aquests es resolen. Una bona història i un dibuix excel·lent, com ho han estat en tota la sèrie.

Este volumen del manga es uno de los mejores en cuanto a desarrollo, pero que trastabilla al querer ver una coordinación en evolución emocional y humano.
Nos acercamos hacia el final de la historia, y la misma se ve envuelta en dudas y eventos de difícil explicación, Kaos debe hacer frente al destino que comparte con Den, si son tan humanos e independientes como creyeron ser o son tan parte uno del otro como jamás imaginaron. Por otro lado, Gally dispuesta a cumplir con su misión debe hacer frente hacia el pasado que no conoce, y para ello Kaos la invita a ver a quien dejo atrás, cual será el destino de estos y los demás personajes que envuelven la historia de Battle Angel Alita.
Para comenzar sigo con la misma idea; esta Gally me desconcierta, sin embargo, he entendido el porque de esto, los años pasan y las personas cambian, y quizás esto fue uno de los elementos que el autor quiso incluir, la distancia emocional y física paga un precio, y debes de aprender a vivir con ello. El evento con el profesor Ido es uno de los que más marca la historia, no la recuerda, no sabe quien es, pero siente un genuino afecto por ella, este episodio es frustrante, no sabemos las razones de este cambio, pero es uno de los más dolorosos para Gally, el profesor Ido significa mucho para ella, y perderlo de la nada ha derrumbado lo que alguna vez quiso recuperar.
Por otro lado, si bien Kaos es uno de los personajes principales de este arco, se me hizo bastante flojo, lo único rescatable es que no es tan dueño de su capacidad como de su propia libertad, y esto se lo hace saber el mismo padre que quiso atrapar y por el cual fue atrapado, irónico la verdad, es como un ser capturado en su propia trampa, y no habiendo sucedido aquello, se da cuenta que no puede ayudar a Gally como esperaba, cosa que para su inteligencia y capacidades no tomo en cuenta.
En este mundo no hay cordura o demencia, aquí solo yacen las mil caras de la locura, todas las formas psicológicas del ser son en realidad diversos grados de locura. Más allá de los límites del autoconocimiento se encuentran las vastas planicies de la libertad sin límites
El punto de máxima tensión ha sido atrapar al profesor Desty Nova, uno de los personajes más desagradables de la historia pero, que en realidad es uno de los más interesantes, su atractivo no está en su personalidad sino en su genialidad, la cual tiene voluntad propia y lo hace caer en sus propias trampas. Al encerrar a Gally en el Ouroboros, no se da cuenta que no logra atraparla como desea, sino que le entrega una de las habilidades más importantes para la historia de la protagonista, el desarrollo de la resiliencia, en este sueño Jashugun le insiste en pelear y demostrar en que ha cambiado, la derrota es continua, sin embargo, en un momento, Gally le demuestra su determinación, en el cual nada ni nadie la hará desistir de su propósito.
Los humanos tienen limitaciones y el propósito de las batallas... es lograr alcanzar las alturas con tus propios límites, ¡Duda!, ¡Preguntaté!, ¡Allí es donde encontrarás el camino!
Puedes volverte muchos más fuerte Gally...pero recuerda ¡la verdadera fuerza no viene de la habilidad de combate...la fuerza viene de vivir con dignidad y respeto propio!
Un manga con una historia genial, con su arco de desarrollo, pero que si le hubiera entregado profundidad a sus personajes, otra historia sería.

Las cosas comienzan a alinearse para el final y comienza a hacerse evidente que no habrá muchas respuestas en esta serie.
Este volumen está acompañado por el reencuentro tan esperado entre dos personajes. Debo de admitir que nunca pensé que el status de Gally cambiara tanto. Ha sido uno de los protagonistas de manga que más transformación ha tenido porque va a terminar en un lugar completamente distinto a dónde comenzó. Me agrada ver como algunas de las relaciones del personaje terminan mal, no es algo tan común de ver y es muy bueno que pase porque en el mundo real las cosas no son eternas, eso lo podemos apreciar mucho en este volumen.
De nuevo tratan de cambiar la relación que Gally tiene con Zalem y aunque ahora sí parece que las cosas se están acomodando para un final, me siguen sin quedar claros los motivos de Gally y no entiendo porque no tiene el deseo de incendiar todo a su alrededor.
El enfrentamiento en este volumen es un poco spoiler, así que sólo diré que aunque fue bastante entretenido y con mucha tensión, ya me lo veía venir.
Me gustó mucho que un capítulo estuviera narrado por un pseudo reportero del bando de Den Barjack. Este personaje parece un tipo de persona pero mientras narra su capítulo se vuelve más y más perturbador.
En general es un buen volumen, comienza a cerrar cosas antes del volumen final.

Finally revisiting this series after an unintended reading hiatus. We return to Alita performing a mission she doesn't want to but doesn't have much of a choice about. And it doesn't help that the man directing her actions is also actively working against her, seemingly just for the heck of it. Bad guys be bad and all that.
The big revelation at the core of this book is the fact that the efforts to learn from Alita have made tremendous progress to the point of leading to some very dangerous possibilities. And while Alita is still obliged to complete the mission, I can imagine that she'll also need to find a way out of this or to find a way to prepare for the bad things ahead - at least if she's being smart about things. But by being the person on the ground, there's a lot she's probably not privy to and that will lead to problems further down the road for sure.
Great fight scenes as usual and I'm pretty keen to see where all this will go. Not so excited about the Kaos/Den angle, but who knows really? This series has demonstrated more than once that they have some pretty interesting ideas.

It seems I made a fool of my myself. After watching the movie “Alita: Battle Angel” and realizing it did not have enough appeal to get a sequence, I decided to read the nine comics in order to uncover the great mystery about the city of Zalem. I went from one nonsensical adventure to another, never fully understanding the concept behind the story and never caring very much about it. Definitely, cyberpunk anime is not one of my favorite genres. Only at the very end of the whole set, as part of a non-canonical afterword, I finally got the answer I so craved. Not particularly convincing, but it would be a fair closure for the never made movie. So, if you, dear reader, only wants to know how the movie would end, do not waste your time reading the nine issues. Save yourself US$ 50.00 and go directly to the afterword at the end of the last one.

Zalem has created replicas of Alita to use as secret weapons. Alita must fight against the clones and Desty Nova. This volume was quite interesting. We have an epic fight against the clones. Alita is also trying to rescue Kaos from Desty Nova. Lots of action packed scenes like usual but this one also had a lot of sadness. Alita is finally reunited with Ido. I can’t wait to see what is going to happen next, especially since it is the last volume.

Overwhelming amount of action. Such powerful sketch - it feels like watching the actions in real time. The story is not the best in Battle Angel series.

Alita must face the secret plan Tiphares has had for her after saving her from destruction.
When the book changed its setting to the lands beyond the scrap yard, I wasn't enjoying the story as much. I found that there is so much new potential for new stories, that Yukito Kishiro was straying from the original story of Alita's past. And in some ways he kind of still is in this volume. However, this volume was really good, and I found myself enjoying it, and reading it very quickly as its hard to put down.
Tiphares is building a small battalion of Alita's based off of the dna(?) that they gathered from Alita when they found her and fixed/upgraded her. And when she faces off against the first one, she finds out she is way in over her head, as she is defeated badly. I really enjoyed the scene where Alita's handler basically sacrifices herself, or her career at least, in order for Alita to not die. It showed the connection these two characters have established over the few volumes for us, but years for them. I also like that Kishiro has moved so forward in time. It gives the book a sense of history and gives Alita experience that she will need to move forward.
Another great thing about this volume is the art. Kishiro's line work is awesome in this one. His way of showing movement and action has definitely got better and better as the title progressed, and you can really see all the skill he has acquired in this volume.
All the storylines seem to converge here, and it leaves off on a cliffhanger, so I'm eager to see how Kishiro wraps things up.

All the storylines seem to converge here, and it leaves off on a cliffhanger, so I'm eager to see how Kishiro wraps things up.

Noticeable improvement over the last volume, though nowhere near the series at its peak towards the beginning. Still could not give less of a shit about Kaos, and find him an active drain on the book, but fortunately, he had less to do with the plot of this volume than he did in v7. It still feels rushed - Lou's only been around for a volume and - we barely got to know her and their relationship did not feel like it had had time to reach that point.
The big thing about this series is that it feels like it should be 50-75% longer, like we skipped four volumes worth of content to get where we are now, and the manga is just going 'trust me bro, this is where Alita's at now'. Nothing really feels earned or connected as a result. Alita is portrayed as this weary fighter who's been stuck in a purgatory of combat for a decade, but we didn't see any of that, it's just a ten year timeskip.
So why is this a 4/5? It's a 7.5/10 in my eyes and I'm choosing to be generous and round up - a C. Not great, but there are some truly spectacular moments - the Heng cannon reveal chapter, the A-2 through A-10 models and their new roles in the story, Alita's time in the Ouroboros machine - they all come towards the latter half of the volume, but they're spectacular, and they feel like a breath of fresh air bringing this series back towards it was at the start. Just cool, dynamic, wild action with some solid emotion attached to it.

По насыщенности этот том дает фору предыдущим. Стремятся к финалу сразу несколько линий: Идо, разбойники, контролеры из небесного города, поиски неуловимого врага. Раскрывается пара тем, о которых раньше догадывался, но терпеливо ждал пояснений. Местами все банально (контролеры такие контролеры, что сил нет), местами сплошное разочарование (мои опасения в прошлом томе воплотились в самой неприглядной форме), а местами накрывает самая настоящая меланхолия (потому что помнить всегда больнее, чем забывать). Вот такой непростой том, в котором гармонично переплетаются драма, экшн и безумие.

Well, in this issue Alita faces off against a robot double of herself, the A-2, which proves even more powerful than she is. The only reason she defeats it is because Lou blasts the Zalem computer that controls it. I love that Lou gets in a hit here.
Alita finally finds Ido, who is now living with a robot girl who looks a lot like Alita and can do he Panzer whatever fighting art... so she is another pseudo clone of Alita. However, Ido can’t remember who Alita is because he erased his own memory after discovering a diabolical secret of Zalem. This is a great way to build up tension.
Another Alita clone attacks and coordinates the destruction of the rebel’s led by Den. However, one robot dog manages to destroy this Alita clone. Right. This is a plot device I have seen so many times, wherein an enemy is introduced as incredibly powerful and an army is built of that enemy, but after the first is defeated, all the rest are weak as heck.
Alita later gets trapped in a dream world, but is able to escape just because at the last minute via another uninspiring unexplained plot development.
Still, overall entertaining volume.

Curieusement, je trouve que ce tome est peut-être le plus faible de la série, alors qu'il est quand même très chouette.
Plusieurs choses me font penser ça.
D'abord, l'histoire est portée par plusieurs intervenants, ce qui la disperse (contrairement à tous les tomes précédents qui ne parlaient que de Gally) sans pour autant lui apporter de points de vue réellement complémentaires : la destruction du canon Heng est "juste" l'occasion pour l'auteur de nous livrer quelques planches (effectivement incroyables) dans lesquelles le voyeurisme d'un des personnages semble faire écho à celui de l'auteur, qui veut nous montrer cette destruction alors que l'histoire de Gally a pivoté.
Ensuite, je ne suis pas complètement convaincu par le combat entre Gally et son clone (et surtout par sa résolution qui semble un peu trop "deus ex machina" à mon goût).
Ce sont toutefois des reproches mineurs : le destin de Gally reste incroyable, et la plupart des planches transpirent la sensibilité.
Un petit coup de mou, donc, avant une conclusion que je sais être fabuleuse.

Ya llegando al final de la odisea de Gally, después de la gran revelación sobre kaos, solo queda hacer las siguientes preguntas ¿Podrá Gally ganar a su Archienemigo Desty Nova? ¿Se encontrará con Ido? Por lo menos una de estas será respondido.
Lo que me gustó fue lo de la rebelión y el climax final de todo eso.
Con solo un tomo que me falta, siento que todavía no puede ser el final, hay tantas preguntas que deben ser contestadas, el pasado de Gally, los secretos de Salem, cosa que me parecen para mucho mucho que recoger.
Pero bueno hay que tener paciencia en este manga que por su dibujo y su narrativa es una obra maestra.
Sin más que decir solo espero que esté no sea el final sino el inicio de algo más.
Lo que me gustó fue lo de la rebelión y el climax final de todo eso.

Der Band beginnt stark, wird dann aber irgendwie ein bisschen wirr.
Dass Zalem Alita ausnutzt, ist ja klar. Dass sie aber einfach so ihr Ebenbild nachbauen können, finde ich nervig. Alita ist ja irgendwie einzigartig, dadurch dass sie scheinbar vom Mars kam und eine uralte Kampfkunst beherrscht.
Auf der anderen Seite hat Ido sie ja damals auf dem Schrottplatz gefunden und all der Schrott kommt aus Zalem. War Alita also schonmal dort? Dem Geheimnis von Zalem sind wir leider noch keine Deut näher gekommen.
Schade, dass Ido nicht mehr der Alte ist.
Zum Schluss sind wir dann endlich bei Nova. Eine abgekämpfte Alita gibt nicht auf!

Bir sonraki ciltte final yapacak ama bu kadar kötü bir kurulum varken pek umudum yok. Siberpunk olarak başlayan hikayede bu tür adına bir şey görmüyoruz artık. Daha fazla android yapmakla olmuyor bu tür. Artık tipik bir kıyamet sonrası dünyasına dönüştü tüm hikaye. İsyancıların yönetimi indirmeye çalıştığı, çöllerde geçen bir hikaye var elimizde. İsyancılar yıllarca hazırlanıp silah yapıyor ve ilk atışlarında başarısız olup dağılıyor. Öte yandan Gally'nin İdo'yu arayış hikayesi vardı elimizde. O da yalap şalap bir son buldu. Bir sonraki cilt ne anlatacak artık bilemiyorum. Kaos ve Nova üzerinden bir şey olacak gibi dursa da hikayede ilgimi çeken bir şey kalmadı.

coming to a head
Thankfully steps into a direction I enjoy a bit more but still just fun.
I really doubt the culmination of the story is going to be overly satisfying. Maybe I was in the wrong headspace to tackle this series.
But there’s an oddity to the pacing of this whole thing. Like it goes from slow to fast but never in the direction you feel like it should. In the aggregate I think it would benefit from just slowing down on the plot and it would make the minor characters and their digressions feel a bit more integral to the story and themes.
Thankfully steps into a direction I enjoy a bit more but still just fun.

Esta es otra parte de la historia de la que recordaba escenas con claridad, y tiene muchas revelaciones y momentos interesantes. El arte continúa siendo excelente, y los personajes son increíbles. Siempre recuerdo lo impactante que me resulto Den la primera vez que leí esto, lo terrorífico que me resultaba Desty Nova... En ese momento no sabía lo cerca que estaba del final, apenas unos capítulos y se termina.

Ce riche volume nous offre beaucoup d’action (sans toutefois avoir un excès de combat) et de révélations. L’histoire progresse à grand pas et les personnages évoluent beaucoup. Tout se précipite et l’on sent que la fin du récit approche! Le talent graphique de Kishiro excelle bien (et de mieux en mieux) à exprimer tant l’action que les sentiments. Une très bonne lecture.

July 16, 2020Chaos and Desty Nova, the Bar Jack... and inbetween Alita and Zalem. This book was crazy and I think I liked the prior book(s) more. We have a lot of fighting, hope and destroyed hope. We lost Ido (but at least Alita got some closure), kind of lost Koyomi and almost lost Alita herself. She showed how strong she is, again, and at the end we're left wondering how she will fight Desty Nova.

This is one of the few books, and few manga series, where at one point I had to put the book down and 'walk it off' a bit: It was that emotionally shocking. But due to the understanding company of my coworkers (who have been through the same), I walked it off, finished the book, and immediately began the ninth and final book in this particular series!
