An interesting compilation of sci-fi and fantasy stories with twist in the tale. I liked how most of the stories allow the reader to create their own ending.
Some of the stories were better than others but overall, I really enjoyed each quite a bit. My favorite? It touched my heart: THE CALLER. But then there was another THE MAN-EATER that made me go look up the author to find other works! Actually, I think one of the author's also sent me looking for more and I discovered a great blog, 'Lawyers, Guns & Money.' I think the author or primary contributor was again Christopher Nuttall! Or maybe it was PP Corcoran? Whatever ....READ THE BOOK AND CHECK OUT *ALL* THE AUTHORS 💞💞 You'll be glad you did!
All in all, lots of superb short stories with terrific leads to other equally great other types of reading material. Pretty cool! I'll be ready to buy the next one edited by Mr. Nuttall. I just hope his health steadily improves!
only 4 of the 17 stories were written by women. most of the stories were standard issue sexist junk but i really enjoyed the one about cryogenic freezing and a couple of radical space tales.
Starts with a bang in the dystopian heart of american capitalism and ends with a hopeful tale of soldiers turning the cards on their abusers.
Speaking of capitalism in one of the stories it repeatedly says 'capitism' which I am guessing is an oopsie.
The stories are all relatively good which is nice though some punch way above their weight class.
You have scary, hopeful, and incredibly sad heroism mixed in with cryonic life and death, custodians of the starlanes, and Callers and cullers. Warm hearted AI mothers sinning in the vastness of space and brilliant, deadly, and cold hearted village of the damned children ready to conquer.
The book feels fresh with the writers all being new to me or at least I didn't recognize any overt styles or names.
