International bestselling author Jackie Collins returns with another fast-paced and unforgettable tale of dangerous passion and suspense, both a prequel and sequel to her New York Times bestseller Lethal Seduction.
Family secrets and hidden lives come to haunt Madison Castelli, the sexy, vivacious, and talented writer last seen in Jackie Collins's Lethal Seduction . As she digs into her father's past, trying to resolve the mystery that surrounds her mother's death many years before, Madison finds herself falling into a vortex of lust, greed, and deception, as eventually her quest of discovery turns into a race for her life. Fast-paced, sexy, and full of the glamour that pervades Jackie Collins's novels, Deadly Embrace is sure to please her fans and earn her many more.
There have been many imitators, but only Jackie Collins can tell you what really goes on in the fastest lane of all. From Beverly Hills bedrooms to a raunchy prowl along the streets of Hollywood; from glittering rock parties and concerts to stretch limos and the mansions of power brokers-Jackie Collins chronicles the real truth from the inside looking out.
Jackie Collins has been called a "raunchy moralist" by the late director Louis Malle and "Hollywood's own Marcel Proust" by Vanity Fair magazine. With over 500 million copies of her books sold in more than forty countries, and with some 30 New York Times bestsellers to her credit, Jackie Collins is one of the world's top-selling novelists. She is known for giving her readers an unrivalled insider's knowledge of Hollywood and the glamorous lives and loves of the rich, famous, and infamous. "I write about real people in disguise," she says. "If anything, my characters are toned down-the truth is much more bizarre."
Think about a frog, jumping around in a very disorderly manner thinking it's jumping on a perfectly designed pattern. That is Deadly embrace..
It made me tired, thankfully I read it while reading another book so I was lucky not to get sucked into the glittery Vegas panties and past, present, future drama. On another note, it's Jackie Collins. What else to expect but drama?
This will be the final book that I read of Jackie Collins as this is the last of hers that I haven’t read and thus the collection is complete, As an author Collins writing style is synonymous with her readers, I have thoroughly enjoyed my adventures going through her books over the years.
This book was a pleasant surprise for me, I found it wonderful, it starts off with two different timelines with two different characters to collide together near the end, you grow up with these characters, Dani and Michael, and really feel like you’re there. When I read the blurb on this my initial thought was not another Madison Castelli book, but actually, the focus isn’t on her but how she came to be. Her father who is hinted in Madisons other books take centre stage, and of course it is packed with the usual Collins ingredients. There is so much drama it becomes this page turner that you cannot put down.
Fun packed drama, read this in the sun it’s a brilliant pool side read!
The book The Deadly Embrace is about a lady who finds out the most appalling story about her father. The setting starts off in New York then shifts to California, and then Nevada, and Madison Castelli is the main character. Madison’s father has been accused for two murderous crimes and he has vanished, out to kill more, to get revenge on his worst enemies. Meanwhile everything else is in a disaster in Madison’s life, he boyfriend is missing, her step-mom friend gets shot and Madison is going crazy. Madison’s biggest external conflict is being affected by all of this stress, with her work, etc. Madison’s biggest internal conflict thinking about staying in L.A. with her best friend Natalie and forget all about helping her father, or got to Las Vegas to stop her father.
During this book I made a text-to-text connection. Madison’s Father’s past remind me of a book called I’ll Be Seeing You by Mary Higgins Clark. Just like Madison, Meghan is trying to find her father, and to see if he really did murder someone. In both text, both characters learn about their parents past.
I’d rate this book five stars. It was very suspenseful, action packed. I liked how I always kept me reading. I’d recommend this book to people that love suspense and action together.
Wow. I’m not sure where to start. So I liked this book to start with. I wasn’t sure what to expect but it had some interesting characters, some interesting plot lines and I was enjoying it for the trash candy that it is. Then things started to go downhill. In the present day chapters there was just too much going on. There were too many different plot lines and they got way too dramatic with too much gratuitous sex and I just was losing interest. There were some seriously problematic and unhealthy relationships in this book. Seriously. I wanted to like Michael but at the same time he strung Dani along for over 30 years and I don’t know why she waited for him and just forgave him for everything. And Dean who was supposed to be the “nice” guy was a possessive asshole. At one point he tells her if she doesn’t put out he’s going to lose interest so she feels obligated to sleep with him. Seriously? Then the end was just a mess. Everything wraps up way too quickly and there are some things that were never really fully seen through that I was very confused about. Probably my first and last Jackie Collins.
What a book! Jackie Collins never disappoints! It feels like ages since I read "Lethal Seduction", the book before this - but when I picked up this book it didn't feel like I'd been away from these characters. I recommend this book to anyone, even if they haven't read "Lethal Seduction." This follow up is a roller coaster of page turning glamour, sex, action and shock. The ending was sudden but perfect :)
This book had so many things going on. But of all, the subplot I dislike the most was the present time. It was a bit flat, it didn't convinced me at all.
Dani's story and Michael's story were a little interesting thou, I mean their separate stories. But when combined, was also a bit flat.
There were also good points, so I will still read other Collins books.
Deze lag nog op zolder om eens uit te lezen. Een typisch goedkope roman. Veel verhaallijnen die uiteindelijk samen komen. Ondanks de oppervlakkigheid wil je toch graag weten hoe het eindigt.
I finished my last book earlier than expected. This book was at work, so I started reading it. I have to laugh because I have never read a Jackie Collins book before but I have read a few chapters and the plot is as I expected. We'll see. An adequate book to read but all too predictable outcomes.
This is my second Jackie Collins book and I didn't enjoy is as much as the first (Chances). I know this is book 2 of a series so maybe I should have read book 1 first. I found that i was reading for the sake of finishing rather than reading to enjoy. I found the characters weren't as fleshed out as they could have been and I wasn't really that interested in the "present day" bit about the hostages in the restaurant. Also there was the strange story of Dani's childhood at the start but it never really gets mentioned ever again, I was expecting the father to come bursting through the door any second! Overall, Deadly Embrace fell a bit flat for me. I'll happily try some more of her books though.
From such a brutal background to becoming a renowned artist and mother of two beautiful kids; Vincent and Sarah to finally marrying the man of her dream, the father of her two children, Michael; Danny was for me a purpose-driving woman who despite her unfavorable background especially the way and manner surrounding her birth. She did not only become successful on her own, but she also ensures her kids live a good life that completely negates her own childhood experiences. Michael on the other hand was amazing with his courage, ambition and focus. Despite all the challenges he faced, he got his wishes at the end of it all; a family his father failed at.
I love Jackie Collins she my favourite and I read most of her books. This was a very good read and read it in 4 days so hook on it she always keeps you wanting to read more

Not a book I'd normally read but running low of books under the circumstances. Found it a little confusing moving between present and the past and different people's side of the story. Another hopeless romance but this time with lots of violence . Passed the time but not convinced I'll read anymore of her books
...this is the most hilariously campy, bad, Godfather Part 2 parody that includes A LOT of triggering material, drugs being snorted out of unmentionable places, shootouts in restaurants, villainous lesbians, showgirls, unnecessary flashbacks, and diving from hotel windows into swimming pools. Not a good book at all but not a bad read, particularly at the pool yourself.
I have to give this one zero stars. If we hadn't jumped all over the place with who was telling the story and actually put all of the past together instead of having a chapter of present time and then like 6 of the past, it might have been a good book. I just found I couldn't get invested in the story like I normally do since I didn't get a chance to really connect with any of them.

I love Jackie Collins books oh so much. They're always fun to read and you get easily hooked. Her character development is perfect. This book didn't end the greatest (seemed a tad rushed); BUT, I still really enjoyed it.
Good book, nice, fast reading and obviously relaxing. The only thing was Emily. That part stayed mysterious. The part where Madison was included could have been shorter. It was unnecessarily lengthy and the end was a little shaky. But overall it's a good read for a relaxing weekend.
Ahhhh love Jackie Collins. Just couldn’t get into this one. Choppy for me and a lot of jumping around and the characters were all over. Couldn’t connect with any of them and this book didn’t have the zing that some others had.
A fun easy summer read, which is exactly what I needed. Did the Audio, not real impressed with the author as the narrator, but it seems that she narrates most of her own books. Not sure if it's a deal breaker or not, might try one more and see.
Loved this Jackie Collins book. She never dissappoints when I need something fun and light to read.
The story was so engaging. I wanted Dani & Michael to marry so badly. The characters were a lot to keep up with it. But this was a good one. JC always delivers.I miss her so much. RIP Jackie.
