**Explicit Language & Sex/Adult Situations /18+** Riley Michaels fought to be born, and the struggle never quite ended. The only son of Shea and Ryan Michaels, he has spent his entire twenty years attempting not to walk in his father’s shoes, except in taking over the family veterinarian business. Riley’s days are consumed with books, school, and work. He’s also harboring a secret—one no one will understand, especially his dad. Now his life has become even more complicated. His world of tranquility will be shaken and his resolve tested. Gabriella Tobin knows nothing about Riley, but everything about his father. She is attractive, hardworking, and has never wanted for anything. Being treated like a princess every day made each moment effortless, but now that she knows the truth, nothing can quell the ache in her heart. Her entire life is a lie. Working as a veterinarian is satisfying, but that alone can’t extinguish the grief she’s suffered the last year. Now, at thirty and looking for a change of scenery as well as an escape, she thinks Alaska may be the answer. But Gabe too holds a secret so dark it could destroy everyone around her.
This is a really hard review for me to write. I’m so conflicted when it comes to an author writing a book/books featuring children of a couple from a book I’ve previously read and loved. On one hand I think, yes, give me all the next generation goodness! But then the other hand is like no thank you, I’m happy with how things were left with the couple and I don’t really want to see what’s happening years down the road. When Ms. Cyr announced she was writing a book based on the son of the couple from one of my favorite indie romances ever, Bite & Release, I was equal parts excited and leery. Shea Michaels is in my Book Boyfriend Hall of Fame, so the thought of getting to see more of him, plus meeting his son Riley, had me thrilled but apprehensive at the same time.
Sadly, Riley's story fell a little short for me. I never felt a real connection between Riley and Gabe and that made it hard for me to be invested in their story. I thought Riley was darling and would give him all the stars if I could. But unfortunately, I never warmed up to Gabe, at all. And it’s not that I just didn’t warm up to her, I honestly didn’t like her. To me, she wasn’t deserving of Riley, even after the secrets came out and everything was cleared up.
It’s so difficult when you really like one of the main characters in a book, but can’t bring yourself to care about the other one- it totally takes me out of the story. Unfortunately, that’s what happened with with this one. Gabe is just one of those characters who I really could not connect with and as much as I wanted to love this book I was left feeling very indifferent when I finished reading. I hate that I felt this way about Riley's book, I really do, but it just didn't work for me like I hoped.
Where do I start. Shea is Alaska’s infamous manwhore know by all, so will his son be any different? Riley swears he will not be anything like his father, he spends most of his time at school, work, or with his nose in the books. Partying and girls are not his priority. He has no desire to live up to Shea Michaels reputation even though all the gals thinks he should, Riley is way to sexy not to.....right? When mom and dad decide to leave Alaska to retire, Riley is forced to have a licensed veterinarian come in and run the clinic for the next three years, or until he gets his license. But did dad play a sick joke on him? Does Riley even plan to keep the doctor around? And why would anyone leave sunny California. Or dark, dreary, cold Alaska? As normal Cory gives us a wonderful, nonstop read.
I absolutely adored the original Bite And Release since it was first released and it’s follow up, Bite and Release 2 really completed the story about the depth of love that Ryan and Shea have for each other. These two books were compelling yet heart-breaking reading. Shea’s tormented upbringing at the hands of his father is not something that he talked about with their children, nor is the extent to which he slept around since the age of 13 or his reputation as a manwhore in their local town in Alaska.
In contrast, Bite and Release 3, Riley’s story is a little less intense, yet every bit as addictive to read as I wanted to find out about where Ryan and Shea were at, and what their son Riley, at 20 was up to. Riley doesn’t want to become his father, or repeat his father’s mistakes. In fact I was surprised at how far he went in his absolute refusal to not become his father – holy crap! As a trainee vet working towards being fully licensed, Riley requires the supervision of a qualified vet until he finishes school, so when Ryan and Shea look at relocating themselves from freezing Alaska to Sunny Florida, Shea employs Dr Gabe Tobin who has a stellar resume and six years of experience.
When Dr Gabrielle Tobin arrives, the chemistry is off the charts between them, and Riley can’t believe the attraction that he has towards this woman who has a little more life experience than he has. He’s not quite sure what to make of it, but that’s okay, Gabe is quite forward in her approach in pursuing Riley. At times I felt she was a little persistent in her pursuit, but, as the book moved through, I understood why. And, I have to say there certainly was a plot twist that came out of left field for sure!!!
I have missed Cory Cyr’s writing style, with it’s adventurous, intensely sexy, smouldering chemistry and outrageous dialogue, so to say that I’m rapt she’s back with a book release is an understatement! I recommend this as a 5 Star read, and hope you enjoy it as much as I did.
I need some peppermint tea to settle the butterflies in my tummy. Riley is nothing short of sweet with dose of sultry sexy that set my heart soaring and my stomach into a trembling mess of warm and fuzzy torture. I had no clue what to expect when it came to opening the book featuring Shea and Ryan's son, but wow! He is just as sweet as sin with a touch of innocence that made his story and falling in love unique. I loved absolutely everything about him! While admittedly I didn't jive with Gabe (the heroine), not particularly finding it easy to identify with her, it was definitely a ride seeing the two of them find their happy ending and I'm glad I was able to see her growth of character in the end. I found that Riley brought out the best in her once they began their journey of forever together. I was honestly surprised by the drama found in the book. Sometimes, it's easy to guess where a story is going, but in this case not so much. I was floored by Gabe's behavior and the catalyst that brought her to Alaska. Luckily, her and Riley found peace despite the circumstances. The presence of Shea and Ryan was a welcome addition to the story as well; I never tire of those two and their amazing chemistry as well as love and devotion. Add in the pooch, and well, four-legged friends always enhance any story, yes? Truly, what a wonderful come back by the talented Cory D. Cyr! She deserves a huge hug and pat on the back for all of her dedication, hard work, and passion because it gave us another great read!
The third and final installment of the Bite and Release trilogy is absolutely wonderful! The Michael's family is one of my absolute favorite book family's! My love for them started with Ryan and Shea in the original Bite and Release and Ms Cyr did not disappoint with Riley's story!
The book starts out with Riley's parents retiring from Alaska to Florida and handing down the family's business to their son, Riley. While Riley is still in college they had to bring on a lisenced veterinarian to handle the clinic until Riley graduated and could take over. Little did they all know, an evil secret from their past was about to follow the new hire into their happy lives. Gabe brings experience both in the clinic and in the bedroom, but can Riley distinguish between love and lust, and will he ever live up to the expectations his dad has set for him?
I must say, I am a huge fan of Riley. He may even be one of my new book boyfriends! With that being said, I'm not really sold on Gabe. She is kind of crazy to be honest. I never could connect with her. Her character fell a little flat for me in an otherwise wonderful book, which is the reason for the 4 star rating instead of 5 stars.
While this is the third book in the series, I highly recommend reading Bite and Release and The Reason I Breathe, both by Cory Cyr, to better understand a few of the parts of the story in Riley's book. Amazing series and Bute and Release: Riley, was the perfect ending do for a perfect family!
Oh my stars. What turns out to an explosion of secrets, also turns out to be an unexpected moment of finding love at a crazy moment in your life. First, I have adored Ryan and Shea from the start, so seeing Riley all grown up was amazing to see and Cyr did a brilliant job bringing his character to life. He is strong and passionate about everything and everyone in his life. He fights for what he believes in and doesn’t bow to anyone. Enter Gabe. She to me is a wild card. Especially when things are revealed. I almost wanted to hate her at times because I felt she was taking advantage of Riley but when you see things from her end, her emotions are just as wrapped up when it comes to him as well. I loved their banter and how they played off of each other. I adored how Riley would not back down when things got all twisted and even stood up to the ones that brought him into this life. There are moments of closure as well in this book from the first few books which I felt was brilliant as well. Overall, I loved this book so much. I am so glad Cyr is back with her words because they are raw and passionate. Her stories keep you on your toes and this one is no different. I honestly could not put this book down and struggled to do my day to day stuff once I started. AKA my daughter did not get lunch that day! If you are fan of this author, trust me, you need this book in your life and we all need a Riley to go with your Shea!
I was so excited when I found out that Cory Cyr had finished B&R 3 and that it was Riley’s book. I loved Shea and Ryan so much and couldn’t wait to devour Riley’s story. And what an amazing story it was.
Riley is 20 years old now and is nothing like his Dad. Except for his love of animals. That’s why he is taking over the family business while Shea and Ryan retire to Florida. Still in school working on his Vet degree, Riley needs another Vet to help while he goes to school. Shea hires Gabe Toblin. What Riley and Shea didn’t know was this wasn’t a Mr it was Miss.
Sparks fly when these two meet and Riley soon realizes that Gabe is special to him. He’s got a big secret he’s kept from everyone. And Gabe also has her own secrets. When the tension grows and things change these secrets could be their downfall. But buckle up y’all cause it gets bumpy but in the end love preservers.
I enjoyed everything about this book. The characters, storyline, the sexy times, all of it. Cory Cyr has given us a story that will stick with us long after the last page is read.
After reading Bite & Release 1 and 2, I could not wait to get my hands on this beauty when I discovered it was being released. And once again Cory Cyr has wowed me.
She grabbed my attention from the first couple of pages and didn’t let go.
As much as I adore Shea Michaels, I fell even harder for his son, Riley. He wasn’t at all what I was expecting. He was so much better. It’s hard not to love him.
I wasn’t sure about Gabe at first, I knew she was keeping secrets and something bothered me about her, but after it was all said and done, I really did like her. She was very aggressive in going after what she wanted, and that was Riley. And boy did she get him!
The chemistry between Riley and Gabe was off the charts hot! I couldn’t get enough of them. And the storyline sucked me in and I devoured this book faster than I wanted, but I couldn’t put it down.
This is a definite must read, but you have to read the first two books first to get a better understanding of it. Trust me you won’t be disappointed.
Although this is called Bite and Release 3 it certainly can be read as a stand alone.
This is Riley’s story, the son of a HAF dad who had a way with women when he was Rilwy’s age.
Riley is worried he will never live up to his Dads expectations in both his professional career and personal life.
Then comes Gabe !!!
Cory has a gift at putting words to paper. She is a gifted story teller and I loved this story. The past 12 months has been really difficult personally and trying to write one handed almost impossible . She did it, this book is one of my all time Cory favourites .
What a great book, the final 3 to a series!! I loved Shea and Ryan! With their son staring in book 3, Riley and Gabe, was even more amazing! I haven’t read in a couple of years. Took a too long of a break from reading, but so glad I found this ending, because I read the first two books years ago! Thank you for a great series, and also glad your doing ok, from your accident.
I really enjoyed this story! It was so good. Loved the chemistry between Isabella and Riley even with the age gap. Really loved Ryan and Shea parts and how they are still so in love and their hot chemistry still. Read it from start to finish it was so enjoyable!! Another great book by Cory everyone needs to read this series!!
This was an amazing story of love, revenge gone wrong and a loss of innocence. But more importantly it was about forgiveness and healing. Riley and Gave found love amidst deception and family problems. This is my first book by Cory Cyr and I totally enjoyed it. I will definitely be reading more by her.
I absolutely loved this book. I love this family. I really fell in love with Riley and Gabe! I hate this is the final installment of this family but i will be reading them all over again. If you have not read any of Cory Cyr books you need to get started. They are very addicting and you will not be disappointed.
If you read Bite and Release and The Reason I Breathe, you must read Bite & Release 3. I got the romance I wanted (younger man/older woman), a little anguish, we got to see what Shea and Ryan were up to, and the HEA that we all need. Cory Cyr's books never disappoint.
Wow! Super WOW! this one will keep you on the edge of your seat and totally engrossed. Very intense and explosive with lots of sexual chemistry and twists and turns. Loved reading Riley and Gabe's raw and passionate story.
What can I say but wow. I loved the first two books in this series. This one was great. Shea was always the ultimate book boyfriend but Riley may be the next one. Loved this book. Loved the series.
Woohooo this was an excellent story about Riley. What an amazing character he is. He is kind, mature, motivated, and so much different than his father was. I loved that his parents were in this story as I've missed them.
After reading both Bite & Release predecessors, I was looking forward to reading about Shea and Ryan's hot offspring, Riley Michaels. At 20, Riley is poised to take over his father's veterinarian practice, but cannot take over until he earns his degree. Enter Dr. Tobin, hired by Riley's father Shea to spearhead the operation until Riley's degree is earned. Riley's life consists of books, books, and more books until he meets the elusive Dr. Tobin. With her sights set on Riley, she aggressively pursues him. Both Riley and Dr. Tobin, of course, hold big secrets, ones that can possibly and probably will cause havoc. I did have some issues, but I will allow the reader to draw his or her own conclusions. Overall, a good, entertaining read.
Once upon a time Shea and Ryan Michaels had a bouncing baby boy named Riley Michaels. Would Riley walk in his fathers’ shoes of being a man-whore or would he make up his own rules?
Gabriella- She has a dark secret, but will it ruin everything? Could Riley see past this and have the HEA most people dream about? What role would Shea and Ryan have in their sons newly budding relationship?
To me Gabriella is very likable at first but then this secret was weighing heavily on my mind as I was reading Riley. Is she even right for him? Read Bite & Release 3: Riley and make your own decision!
Riley- It was amazing to get to know Riley! He is so sweet and caring! He may be a little inexperienced, but his personality overrides his lack of experience. Riley is set to take over the family veterinarian business in Alaska, after he finishes college. Riley is still young but very hard working and his love for animals is apparent in his actions and dedication!
Now It’s time for Riley to shine in his own story! I couldn't wait for the highly-anticipated story of Riley to go live and now that is has I’m in awe of his story. I loved Riley from the beginning to the end! What a captivating and intoxicating story!
I love that Riley is set in a familiar place, Alaska. We read about the area in the first installment of Bite & Release, Shea and Ryan’s story. The area sounds truly magnificent, if it wasn't for the frigid temperatures I would be tempted to move there myself!
I love Cory D Cyr’s writing style. Riley is light hearted and funny but could be serious at times! Who would forget about what happened to Shea in his upbringing in the first story of Bite & Release. It also is very hot and sexy! Riley was a real page turner and I would recommend Riley to all my friends that love romance! Especially sensual tales about older women and younger men!
What a beautifully intense story! I was truly invested! I hope you enjoy Bite & Release 3: Riley, as much as I did!!!!
I loved his parents story and I just adored that it continued with their son. When you are battling not turning into your dad but still want the family business to prosper it can be a challenge. Then throw in a women. Riley will have his work cut out for him on this one. You really need to read this and find out all he does!! Both with the dad foot steps and women problems. Doesn’t help that I dislike the women from the getgo. Some females don’t deserve the best of the male pickings. She really throws off the story for me. I will still give this story 5 stars because I loved HIS story, I just would give it a 1 star if it was HER story. I disliked her that much. But this is a great author and just cause I hated her doesn’t mean this was a bad story at all!!
