Hex #1-4

Hex: Entire Series

Rate this book

An Urban Fantasy Box set.: The Sholto Gunn UF Series .

Magic, snark, mayhem, guns and more snark.

“I killed a vampire, sent a demon back to hell, filled in my tax returns and went to church. And that was only this morning. This afternoon I’m going to take on a fallen angel.

So, if you need the impossible done and you have nowhere else to turn, call me. Sholto ‘Hex’ Gunn, warrior mage for hire. But bear in mind, the best don’t come cheap and I don’t do no charity work. Don’t insult me by asking for a discount.”

HEX 1 - A group of dark Mages are looking to muscle in on New York. They reckon it’s about time that darkness ruled.

But they didn’t take into account that Hex might disagree.

The last thing that you wanna do is upset Hex in his home town because he just might decide to start kicking butt and taking names … and one of those names just might be yours!

HEX 2 - Someone is calling up a demon army and Father Cooney has enlisted Hex to stop them. Unfortunately, the demons aren’t the only thing that Hex has to worry about, he’s pissed off a billionaire who has hired a private army to take him out with extreme prejudice.

But what they all didn’t realize is … you push Hex and he pushes back. Real hard.

HEX 3 - Someone is selling illegal magic on the streets so the Dark Brethren have called in Hex to put a stop to it. But this time they may be asking too much. Werebears, fae princes and the Russian mafia are all determined to take Hex down.

But they didn’t figure on the fact that Hex don’t lay down for anyone. And now they’re all wishing that instead of taking on New York’s finest warrior mage, they had just stayed at home with a mug of cocoa and a good book.

Because Hex is on the warpath … and this time he’s real pissed.

HEX 4 - The four horsemen of the Apocalypse have decided to ride. But Hex has decided otherwise. And Hex don’t take kindly to the end of the world. Not on his watch.

But maybe, just maybe, even he can’t win this one.

Sholto ‘Hex’ Gunn – he’s our kind of trouble!

Terrific, fantastic, gotta read!

Fast, fun, full of action. These books were so good that I read them all without stopping! One through four! One bad thing, there are no four, give and six!!! Do yourself a favour, but these books, you will love them! If you like fast action, sorcery, and the offense joke, these books are for you!!

Good read

Very good read. Only couple of downsides for me was how much Hex talks how much an badass he is, I understand it just didn't like it. Some of the spell casting and spell forging seem off but not enough to worry about. If you like Dresden or Nightside give it a try

I enjoyed this series so much, that after I finished it, I started it again! Very amusing, certainly does not not take itself too seriously, and kept ME entertained for hours. The main character Hex is a mage, a very good mage. He acquires a couple of partners along the way, Vusi, and Goat...the goat? You have to read it! Thank you Mr. Zerf, please bring back Hex, Vusi and Goat for another adventure!

Loved the humour, loved the pacing. I'm used to longer "after ending" when a series ends, but, oh well. Recommend it for anyone who enjoys the genre with kick ass characters that don't do much whining and over emotional drama, as well as stories that are partly gory and heavy, but aren't wallowing in the heavy stuff.

Snark. Loads of it

This four book series builds around a guy by the name of sholto gun. Powerful, snarky, and despite everything he tries to make people believe a good guy. I enjoyed the hell out of this.

F$%&ing Awesome

Just finished the four book series and loved it. You don't mess with Sholto Gunn or bad things happen. Slayer of angels, werebears, demon armies, far Miller and far savior but mostly the guardian of humanity. Enough said!

Couldn't put it down

Never read any of this author books before but so glad I did. Every book a page Turner. It has humour, magic and action galore, I do hope there will be stories about Hex and his crew

Excellent

Great fun, the main character has attitude in spades. He kicks butt and takes names, but occasionally gets in a bit too deep. A good read.

The series is sort of like the Junkyard Druid but not. The writing is completely different for a start. The main character gets beat up as much as Colin McCool but is so full of himself that I would temporarily favor the bad guy just to shut up the MC's chant that he's the baddest of the bad. An openly immature MC is actually refreshing.

The sidekick was added very smoothly, I thought but the death of someone close should have had more emotional impact on the character. Then again while the action and dialogue work, the emotional depth isn't as obvious as in some other urban fantasy. It was exciting and the worldviews of the characters was very much like my own. That's always a good thing. Not necessary but good anyway. I really liked this story and this world.
