10.0/10 I don't usually ever give out a 10/10 because in ratings a 10/10 (at least to me) means that I felt that it has affected my life in some sort of way and this book definitely hit me straight in the heart. (although I did read the translated version and maybe the raw Korean version is much better).

LITERALLY my favorite book I've read so far. So entertaining, so full of passion, eccentricity. The beginning was good, the body content was very entertaining, the ending surprising but fulfilling, and a great ending for such a book.

(The book is a slice of life story about an up and coming genius teenage author and his daily life.)

I understand this book isn't for everyone, but if you are even a tiny bit interested I highly encourage you to give it a try and please rate it and review it. This book is crazyyyy good and REALLY (in my opinion) deserves to be known by many other people. The translated english name is "The Great Storyteller" and you can find it on webnovel.com.

Disclaimer: This is the review for chapter 1-90 of "The Great Storry Teller" so far. I sincerely hope I will either keep this feeling until the end or change my mind in a positive way.

---

I love "The Great Storry Teller" and I think it's a very good novel, but I understand why it isn't more popular with foreign reader. The novel suffers the same problem as the manga "Blue Period", even though of course, Blue Period is way more popular: They too focus on the subject of writing/art, and many casual reader can't fully enjoy the novel/manga since they don't understand why the characters suffer too much because of something they just count as a hobby, lead to the conclusion that the story is boring and over-dramatic.

Now, back to "The Great Storry Teller". My very first impression that the story full of writing tips for beginner & focus on the youthful Literature Club was of course, wrong. Ha ha. Now (at chapter 90 so far) the novel mostly focuses on the world of professional writers, with lengthy dialogue that surely won't do well in webtoon form. Sometime I can't help but think "damn, these thing is too heavy for webnovel".

"You're not like Hemingway," Juho thought out loud.

Dong Gil stopped talking for a moment. After a brief silence, he asked, "What does that mean?"

"He had a habit of exaggerating things to cover up his weak, timid personality."

[...]

"After countless people testified that he was a big talker, I didn't know what to think. I couldn't help but feel betrayed. My sensitivity would not leave me alone. I had wanted to be like him, but I didn't want to be like him anymore."

Yeah yeah, I know that feeling *look at J.K.Rowling*

A little note: Juho's first book remind me of Murakami, the second one reminds me of a fuck-up manga I'm currently following and his endless inner dialogue remind me of a lot of Richard Siken's poems.
